Service is sloooooow. They seem to take care of one table at a time in terms of putting in /bring out orders. We waited for about 20 – 30 min for the food to come out. But… Their sausage is fantastic. They make super tender steamed chicken. The beef rolls are bomb. They have probably the best turnip cake I’ve ever had. We will probably skip the soup next time. The beef soup wasn’t bad, but it was just kinda«meh» compared to everything else(which was soooooo good). Do not come here if you are in a hurry. But do come here.

Not sure what other choices there are on the east side for Taiwanese style food but this place serves excellent dishes. The pork liver sausage and beef shank(over rice) was good. So was the beef noodle. Huge portions. Place is clean and bright

You know it’s traditional when you have a young child taking orders and serving, all stereotype aside… the few items I had was really good. My sister and I were on our way shopping but she got hungry and we just drove by EC Kitchen so we decided to stop in for a snack. It had been closed the last couple times I attempted to go due to vandalism. It must have been prime lunch time because the place was busy and people kept coming in, we ended up sitting at the window bar. Shared the green onion pancakes, beef roll, and sweet tofu. My sister had the cold, fresh soymilk and I had a strawberry boba tea. I liked everything but the boba tea – it taste like it was made for the powder stuff which I don’t like, maybe just stick with the regular milk tea. The onion pancake was very crispy and thin, not greasy. The beef roll was flavorful and the wrap was crispy, light. If you don’t like your soy products overtly sweet then this place is for you. The sweetened soy milk is not too sweet and sweet tofu could’ve been sweeter. It’s perfect for the Asian palate.

This is very clean and nice restaurant. Good place for hang out with friend and family. I really like their desert sweet tofu. There are not very taiwanese restaurant in Portland. If you want to eat taiwanese food, you should come here.

The food here is so good! The beef roll is amazing, the sausage pot rice had some of the best Chinese sausage I’ve ever eaten, and the tea egg was so fragrant and savory that it made me think I was back in Taipei for a second. The space is nice, all bright and spacious and colorful, and the staff are really friendly and helpful. When we couldn’t decide between mango or strawberry shaved ice, the guy offered to make us a 50 – 50 split. If you want amazingly tasty and really authentic Taiwanese food, hurry over to Lents and get some tea eggs and sausage right now!

Very good food, nice & friendly service, place is clean & tidy. I love boba milk tea & turnip cake here, braised pork with eggs also delicious. Another thing that make me like this place is restroom have a diaper changing table & very clean. Not all Chinese restaurant have this.

They serve Taiwanese food. My faces are the brined chicken and beef noodle. Somewhat high on the price range and the ambiance resembles a fast food joint. The server is very well mannered and attentive to your needs.

What a gem! This place is amazing! Service is A+!!! The lady serving me was so kind! She made sure I understood what I was ordering and was kind enough to explain everything to me… You don’t see that at all at any Chinese restaurants. Food here is amazing! Everything here is made in house so you know it’s going to be bomb! This also is the cleanest restaurant I’ve seen in this area which is a plus for me.

The space looks clean and nice! The service was 3⁄5. The food was amazing!!! Never seen any place that have food like this place! They used a lot of chinese Spices and herb, also a tons of salt. So if you are not a fan of sodium, reconsider this place!

My fav place for Chinese green onion pancakes. They make them right here none of that thick deep fried pancake they serve at other places. Theirs is thin and crispy just like how it’s suppose to be. They also have yummy tasting bubble tea, soymilk, sweet tofu and shaved ice. It’s all homemade goodness. Place is quite tiny and ran by very kind owners that always make sure food is tasting right. One of my favorite places for a snack.

It was my first time here at this restaurant. I was here with two co-workers for dinner and the appetizers were awesome!!! The bubble tea is the best and should be ordered first before indulging into the entire meal. I had the Taiwanese Noodle Soup and that was really great, but it was very delicious!

I really like this place – and this is coming from someone who is from Houston, the mecca of cheap and delicious Chinese food. Food: As another reviewer mentioned, get the specialty here: house made sausages and braised meat. The sausage is very meaty tasting, without the hard and fatty chunks that most store bought sausages do. Combination plate($ 7.99) includes two meats of your choice, jasmine rice, bok choy, and a small dish of pickled veggies. The beef noodle soup is also good – the beef shank is ridiculously tender and the broth is rich with a natural sweetness from napa cabbage inside. Not a fan of the braised pork rice(卤肉饭) because the cut of meat was leaner than normal, making the dish rather dry and less flavorful than it usually is. I love how everything here tasted home made and less oily than most typical Chinese restaurants. My only complaint is that some of the meats were quite salty. Service: Very friendly and helpful! It was strange that they advertise as a Taiwanese place but the main staff that day was Cantonese… oh well. Environment: Cute yellow house from the outside, bright and clean on the inside. Definitely cleaner and better decorated than most Chinese places I’ve been to. Appreciated this a lot! Overall: I’m a fan! Come by if you’re in the area and craving some comfort Taiwanese food. Bonus: Free WiFi here too.

You’re good to go once you get that this place has a specialty, you should just stick to the specialty. That specialty is… sausage and braised meats. They make it in house and it has essentially three varieties, a classic Chinese pork sausage which is sweet and tastes of rice wine, a Taiwanese sausage which should be pan grilled and a spicy variant of the Taiwanese sausage. I’ve been here a lot and tried almost everything on the menu. It’s just not that great except for the sausage related food. A close second is the braised beef and the braised pork.(these are very different from each other BTW) the bubble tea in original flavor is nice and has a strong spice on it, if you like chai, you should try it. So Order steamed pork bun or the steam sausage bun 2 sides of Taiwan sausage(try both) bbq pork the braised pork meal the beef noodles(if you have company to share). sticky rice if you still need more i’d hold off on the other entrees like their stir fry meat/veggie, or the chowmein until you’ve tried the house specialty.

I wished more Portlanders would frequent this establishment. This is probably the most authentic tasting Taiwanese/Chinese in Portland. They make Chinese and Taiwanese sausages in house and when looking at their ingredients without a lot of the nitrates and fillers that commercial sausages use. I love that they don’t overly season their food and let the quality of the sausage shine. Their fried rice is generous and cheap and is made to order. The fried rice has what the Chinese call Wok Hei… Which is loosely translated as dragons breath from the strong btu output of their kitchen… Something home kitchens can’t recreate. They create a lot of their dishes and ingredients in house and how they serve it at such low prices baffles me given how low the volume they regularly get. The quality is even evident in their chili oil that is made in house which is among the better chili oils in town. The space is always immaculately clean and the service is friendly very attentive. The owner speaks several languages and is very fluent in English. The problems with some of the dishes are a reflection of an ambitious menu for this size of restaurant and their low volume. A lot of the menu is house made but the turnover may not be strong enough to keep certain things fresh enough. If you are well versed in Chinese comfort food from elsewhere in the west coast you’re in good hands here… However if your definition of Chinese food revolves around panda express or fried proteins with name your own sweet sauces then this may not be the place for you. Get their Chinese sausage fried rice and try a few nibbles off their appetizer menu. Soy milk is also made in house and quite tasty.

Pitch perfect Taiwanese snack food. With a lot of Chinese restaurants in the US I have to make compromises: «well, this isn’t as good as you would get in Taiwan but it’s not bad» or «well, it’s good, but it’s about 5x more expensive than it would be.» EC Kitchen has delicious Taiwanese food that would be top-quality even if I were in Taiwan, at good prices, within walking distance from my house. It’s amazing. Individual dishes: Bubble Tea: Good bubble tea, with soft chewy bubbles and insanely sweet. This is exactly how bubble tea is normally made in Taiwan, but in the US we usually make it less sweet so I was thrown. Seriously, order half sugar. Tea Egg: This is the best tea egg I’ve ever had. Delicately spiced, well cooked, delicious. Scallion Pancake: Light and crisp. A bit light on the scallions but still good. Chewy Tofu: This is not my favorite dish, but one of my lunch partners ordered it. It’s well executed! If you like preserved tofu, you’ll like it. Salty Chicken Wings: Moist and delicious. In another place this would have been the highlight, here it was overshadowed by some of the truly amazing dishes. Beef Roll: It’s a good beef roll, but not outstanding. Beef Roll is one of my favorite dishes, and this was only so-so. Sausage Pot Rice: Oh my God this is amazing. The sausage was their house-made pork-chicken sausage, which was a perfect blend of sweet and savory with an aftertaste of wine. Cooked over rice, with the drippings soaking the rice, also delicious and light and fluffy. Side of vegetables(delicious pickles and bok choi.) Just astounding. I can’t wait to try their pork-and-pork-liver sausage. Ginger and Scallion Spinach Noodles: Wholesome and filling. I loved it, but at this point I was filling up so I only ate a few mouthfuls. House-made spinach noodles that just have an amazing texture. Chive Pocket: Delicious, crispy, also huge. A meal in itself. I loved it but as it came at the end of the meal I couldn’t finish it. It’s a great place! Feels good to be able to eat all my favorite Taiwanese dishes again. I’m looking forward to becoming a regular.

I like the service here. The waiter gave us WiFi for the thing I am using to write this review, extra hot and cold water, and helped to pack the box with I am sitting in front of right now. I REALLY like the fried rice here. I know it’s like other restaurants but with the he restaurant’s colors, it tasted better. I ordered it two times over the two times I went there.

The food rates a solid 3. Fairly authentic taiwanese sausage, the sweet ones are on the sweet side, and the spicy is only alright. The turnip cake could use more turnip. The chive cake was a bit over-fried and tough on the outside. We came on a Saturday afternoon, and it was clear that they were not ready for the amount of people there – meaning, all 4 tables of customers. One table came later than us and got all their food before us. Maybe they had called ahead, I don’t know. But it really really irritated me, especially given then my wait for my food. In any case, the other 3 people in my party all got their food in a slow, halting pace. And we finished all their food and my entrée wasn’t even ready yet – in all, over an hour from the time we ordered. And no, I ordered something straight off the menu – the noodles with Chinese sausage. I’m not so sure what took so long. And she didn’t even apologize or update us on what was taking so long! No apologies until we were paying our bill, AFTER I had asked for a to go box before my food even came out. So I took my food home to eat. It was fine, but I was so soured by this experience that I will not head back.

I’m most certainly a fan of this Taiwanese hidden gem on 82nd. It is super clean and welcoming inside. The food tastes fresh and not oily! This is a great alternative to greasy Chinese food! The sausage is what they’re known for, so that is a must get dish. The Taiwanese beef noodle soup with tomatoes can feed a family of 4! With noodles, bok choi, and tender beef chunks, it is my number on choice when I come here! The radish cakes are a great appetizer! You can also buy them Togo and you can fry the, up at home! The spinach noodles is also very tasty! I love the lady who takes our order she feels like a my grandma who is always taking care of me and making sure I eat well! Plus there is a stamp, card. Score! Well after 10 entrees and bubble teas!
