Oh man, they must’ve been having a rough day today. Three friends and I went in for brunch — no wait, but normal brunch-busy. Giving 3 stars because the server was friendly and the food was decent, but the experience was sub-par. PROs: * Friendly server * Live jazz music(albeit too loud to hold a conversation) * Bloody Mary bar(I didn’t partake, but friends enjoyed it) * Yummy food CONs: * Quite a loud atmosphere(live music) and it was hard to hear my friends(even sitting in the back) — some sound absorbing panels would be nice * They were out of almost everything(3 of the items we tried to order, from a pretty limited brunch menu) * The server took our order, then had to come back to let us know some of the items weren’t available * When the food was brought out, *half* of our orders were wrong… at this point, the server kind of disappeared for a while and someone else came to help, but said«Let me get the server who took your order.» But then someone else showed up — it just seemed very disconnected and messy * One of the orders was supposed to have gravy, which they left at the table as a side, let it get cold, then brought the food that it went with 15 minutes later. All in all, I don’t think I’ll be going back. The food was good and the servers were friendly enough, but they really fell short with the service. Maybe they were having an off day.

Sunday brunch crew is not friendly. I love the oysters but the vibe is sad and in friendly.

Hanging out with a Seattle friend and headed into the area looking for brunch. We put our name on a waiting list a few doors away, but it was going to be a 90-minute wait and the rumblies were starting to tumbly. Walked a few doors up the street and — oh, cool, there’s an oyster bar here; I wonder what they have for brunch. Hopped in to Eat and wound up getting front-row seats to a 7-piece New Orleans Jazz band that was playing there. These guys were seriously good – nothin’ quite like a 70-something band leader who’s been doing it for 50 years imported fresh from The Bayou. Perused the menu – There’s a good smattering of decent brunch eats. I ordered the«Debris” – It’s a biscuit with slow-cooked shredded beef, cheddar and an over-easy egg on top. C’est magnifique! Crazy good and tender beef and oozy egg all over it. Wife N. ordered the Crispy Fried Chicken biscuit. Same deal with with fried chicken. This had some heat to it and she found it to be too spicy for her palette so we just traded halfway through. The chicken was very nice for me(but I like things kicked up a notch). Some very nice drinks/brunch cocktails on the side. They have about 5 kinds of Absinthe! I’ve never had absinthe, and never desired to fork over $ 60 for a bottle. But for $ 8 – 12 you can try the experience here. So I picked one(can’t remember which) and they brought the entire presentation: tank of ice water with the slow-drip over the Absinthe spoon and sugar cube. I loved it; definitely a very strong drink(black licorice/Anise) and not likely one I’d want a whole bottle of. But the experience of the slow water drip with the meal, friends, and slammin’ tight Jazz band is one I won’t soon forget. Oysters: Wife N is food-texture-challenged so it was up to our Seattleite friend and me to take care of the platter. We ordered a half dozen, chef’s choice. Wound up with three pairs which was perfect. All of the oysters were incredibly fresh and flavorful – each perfect ambassadors to their regions. We LOVED this place! Total bill for three of us, including a half dozen oysters, drinks and tips for the server and the band, was about $ 80 — not the cheapest place to eat brunch but with the up-front seats and live entertainment it was a pretty good deal – try finding«meal and a show» for three for any less. Laissez les bon temps roulet!

Came here after reading the reviews hoping for a kick ass meal because I love seafood. Got the shrimp po boy and was disappointed, the shrimp was covered in cornmeal not at all seasoned and if it was I couldn’t taste it. took away from the shrimp very tasteless and bland. I should’ve known better with all of these trendy restaurants that open up thinking they are the cats pajamas but fail almost every time. You pay for the hipster vibe and a small portion of mediocre food. It’s usually one from a handful of restaurants that are actually good, this one not so much. Womp womp

Authentic, delicious, eccentric… mix in some live jazz and you have a great little place to hang out and enjoy some great food.

My mom purchased a groupon for this place and we finally got around to going last night. We had a variety of baked oysters, fried grits fingers, fried chicken, and collared greens. Oh my goodness it was all delicious. The fried grits fingers were an amazing surprise. The waiter/bartender was really friendly, gave us some really good recommendations, and made wonderful drinks for us. The décor and music were awesome as well. BASICALLY it’s amazing and awesome and worth the trip. If I lived closer, I’d be there every day.

Biscuits… biscuits… Biscuits. You need to have a biscuit if you Eat at EAT! Their biscuits have floated down from heaven accompanied by honey butter… who doesn’t like butter? My five stars is specifically for the biscuits! We had 4 different kinds of oysters $ 16 for half dozen, and they tasted just like our waiter/bartender/bar back/busser described them! The fried chicken is the sh$t! Juicy, not too greasy, just enough crunch, I did not care for the broccoli slaw though, I was mesmerized by the biscuits! The drinks were awesome too. I haven’t had a Hurricane aka Slurricane since I was 21, but it definitely brought back fond memories! Can’t wait to come back for the Sunday Jazz Brunch!

Came here with a Groupon on a Sunday and stumbled up on their Jazz Brunch! The music was awesome, the food was pretty good. Though tasty, for the price, I wasn’t super impressed by the food. *Maybe the menu was more $$ because it was mostly seafood.* It’s a fun, very casual atmosphere. We came in, sat ourselves and hoped that someone noticed us. The service ended up being perfectly fine. They have garage door walls, so it’s great on a warmish day because there’s lot of air and space throughout. Get there early or you’ll miss the bingets! I had a soft shell crab sandwich, my boy toy had shrimp grits and my dragon metal friend had a fried chicken sandwich. Metal was very happy with his sammy, the crust/skin on the chicken looked BOMB. The grits were very tasty. My soft shell crab was good, crispy and had a nice spiced mayo tartar sauce on it. The oysters were good too, and was of average price for raw oysters. There’s counter seating that faces the band and tables that seat 4 – 6 comfortably. It’s a fun casual atmosphere and would be an excellent way to spend a Sunday morning listening to fun NOLA jazz.

Came in on a busy Saturday evening and had wonderful food and service. The server recommended a drink for me and it was perfect. The oysters he recommended were delicious. Gumbo was tasty and spiced well. The quail was crispy and wonderful. Can’t wait to go back!

Came in last night and had ½ dozen oysters and fried okra. Both were absolutely delicious. The fried okra is awesome because it’s lightly coated with a very thin crispy better. Great drinks too.

Great food. Service was good but not great, a little impersonal. But over all we loved the time there. We had oyster shooters(el hombre) Raw oysters,(Tilamock which were very good) frog legs(also very good I liked the breading on it) and fried pickles(which we loved). Home made ranch is amazing!(we’re ranch people and we loved it and wanted to take some home but forgot to ask) All the food felt fresh, when you order it they make it up or shuck it right there.

My drink that i ordered was great… The oysters were wonderful. Just the food caught me off gaurd. I ordered the jambalaya and my husband the shrimp. First off i never knew jambalaya was supposed to be so bland? And dry… The chicken leg was looked like it was in the warmer for 2 days, the rice no flavor which is odd for being cajun food, i can honestly say the jambalaya at the cheese cake factory tastes much better!(Even being«fake» cajun food) The shrimp my husband ordered were sautéed in a sauce which also lacked flavor… it was just shrimp.

O to the M to the G! A total FOODGAZIM! The very BESTBBQ shrimp I’ve had outside of NOLA! The oyster shooters are spicy & original. The Blackened Catfish was yummy. Felt like I was havin’ a food baby, so ordered the pecan pie to-go:-)…(a perfect midnight snack). Server was great. Love everything about this place & can’t wait to go back

Oysters my friend — fresh, beautiful, succulent oysters deserve anywhere over four stars in my book. The décor here is exactly that of Portland flavor(just don’t mention Portlandia if your a guest in the state). Bought a great deal on groupon so we ordered a platter of delicious oysters, and jambalaya that was spicy as fuuuhh. «Shuck and suck» is the universal motto of Oyster and boy did they go down good. Service was great. Guys behind the bar was funny as hell when they realized we were outta towners and a young girl that was on her break was very informative on great places to visit since she was a originally California native.

I don’t know if I did anything to offend our server, but he was so rude that I’m more confused than I am angry. He(I didn’t catch his name, but he is the 30-something red headed man) spoke to me with so much impatience and scorn that I spent the entire dining session wondering if I had done something to anger him. He treated me like I was a retarded child and he, the impatient and bitter father who blamed me for his shitty life. As we were winding down, he even came over to ask«do you want the check so you can get out of here?» Also the food was bad. I left feeling really crummy.

Eat, you deserve five stars but I don’t think I can give you that many. I think I’m being generous with three stars. First of all, the ambiance for Sunday brunch is FANTASTIC. The music was wonderful and the weather was perfect. It took a while to figure out there’s no host/ess per se; you just kind of sit down where there’s room and hope the waiters notice you. We ordered cocktails, half a dozen oysters, a salad and the crab sandwich. Cocktails took about 30 minutes to get, and the food another 20 – 30. Everything was really, really delicious BUT we were served a sausage biscuit with potatoes instead of the crab. Not a huge deal — like I said, everything is delicious, and though I’m sure I’ll be back, I’ll be expecting the worst. Overall, an A-OK experience, if you’re not in a rush.

Where do I start? I was excited to actually try this oyster bar and expectations were high. We started with oysters that were filled with grit and bits of shell — over salted and preparation poor. The colored greens were good, but the quail was over cooked and very poorly seasoned. Our entrees, the seafood gumbo and fried chicken, lacked any seasoning and no spice. Just no soul in the food — very bland and no creativity. Service — what service? Very poor eye contact and limited knowledge of the menu. Very slow and seems to be a problem of limited staff and no management interest in staffing for good service. I hate to write poor reviews, but this place needs a lot of work!

Kind of disappointed the last few times we’ve gone in. The oyster selections aren’t that great. They use to carry petites which are my favorite, but haven’t seen them in awhile. Went to coast and they had tons of petites. Service isn’t what it use to be either. My biggest reason for the 2 stars is the oyster shooter. $ 3.50 for a oyster shooter with not much of an oyster in it. I’d go to rogue for nice size ones and cheaper. On a positive note the pork skins are delicious.
