Early Bird Gets The Worm – Elite Event @ TILT

Can’t believe I forgot to review this event. It was one of my favorites. Tilt won me over with their monster portions and biscuits. This event my was introduction to Tilt and they had a new menu coming out for the season so Yeeps were invited to try the new menu. We arrived early so we decided to remember how incredibly horrible we were at ping pong, then the drinks started to roll out.
There were cleverly crafted colorful cocktails roaming around for the tasting. I had a pink chili rimmed one which was my favorite for the night. Then there was a red punch tasting one and an orange drink that were both pretty tasty. The thing about Tilt is I feel they put thought into their drinks when crafting them. Then Tilt brought out a feast to feed the hungry working class. We had chicken biscuits, different sliders, potato puffs, and some slaw.
This event was loads of fun, full of food, drinks, and friends. Thanks to the Unilocal peeps, and the wonderful folks at Tilt.

‘SUP to all my fellow An (n)as and Rosie the Riveters! Paolina took the cake with the best outfit as she had the legit worker onesie that was straight outta Rockwell.
What a super fun event! Bartenders were awesome. Being bombarded with a gaggle of loud Unilocalers all at once, they were way cool, explained drinks really well, and kept ‘em coming out of that bar without interruption. My favorite was called, I think… Western Freight? And the spicy one was tops.
This new TILT space is awesome. It’s huge. We were on one bar side, with the ping pong tables, but it’s a big place! You might even say it’s sprawling, counting the upstairs and counter service areas as well.
Tons of food. TONS. More than enough to feed a busload of workers, tell you that right now. The biggest bowl of spicy slaw I’ve ever seen, a while variety of their legendary sandwiches as slider-​style, snacks with assorted sauces to please the masses.
THANK YOU, Tilt and Unilocal bosses. Awesome way to round out the weekend (a couple of weeks ago… I’m a little late with this one).

I am ashamed to admit that this was my first visit to TILT. I live only a few short blocks away. (hangs head in shame) I promise I will come and visit and I will visit often. You are wonderful and I am a bad person, I shall never neglect you again.
This I pledge to you: I will drink your tasty, artfully crafted cocktails and I will most certainly scarf down a burger or possibly something on a fluffy biscuit during happy hour.
The Unilocal Elite event was just the ticket to get me on board. Big thank you to Don and Miss Ana. Of course I am also thankful to the Tilt crew that hosted us, you all were awesome.

2014 — Review # 33

Had a grand ol’ time at this here Tilt.
As Unilocal Elite, we were treated to some fine cocktails and a seriously generous outlay of food to sample. It might be the first time at an event where everyone got their fill and there was still plenty leftover. The food itself is less than heart-​healthy but it’s filling and delicious. The space is industrial loftish and perhaps a bit on the loud side but comfortable. I impressed by the impregnability of the bathroom stalls. They could have saved Rome from being sacked.
Thumbs up for the staff of Tilt, Don B and Ana B (no relation) of Unilocal and all my Yeeps.

12 hours later I’m pretty sure I am STILL full from this event. Seriously. Love me some TILT.
Was great to see both new and old Elites come together for an awesome laid back event.
Great fun playing ping pong even though I am awful at it I have found. Hit the water bottles on display quite a few times.
Once the drinks started coming around it was a touch hard to get my hands on one… but I braved my way through the crowd and ended up with the spicy pink one. Name of it? I dunno… I was too overly intrigued to remember. But it was friggin delicious and not overly spicy. Next, I tried the yellow one. Yes, this is how I remember my drinks. Again, had a hint of spice with the cilantro and tartness of lime… again, friggin delicious. Really wanted to try out the drink with the Four Roses everyone was raving about but by time we tried to get one… they said they were out of drinkies. *Insert sad face here*
Then low and behold the food! OMG THE FOOD!
*Burger on the biscuit = flavorful. The biscuit tasted sweet like it had honey on it. Devoured.
*Chicken on the biscuit = OK. This one for me was alright. Chicken was juicy and had plenty of good spice. Devoured.
*Pastrami sandwich = YUM! Gah damn that pastrami was good. Devoured.
*Philly cheese steak sandwich = Fave of the night. I could have had 3… but then again I had already eaten my weight in sandwiches. Peppers, cheese, yum… yum…devoured.
* Spicy Coleslaw = spicy! Was some fresh tasty slaw but those jalapenos kicked!
*TOTS = YAY TOTS! I was eating them so quickly I didn’t even realize there were various kinds. I was mostly just busy shoveling them into my face. The ranch and tilt sauce was

All in all had a great time. Big ups to Don and Ana and of course the team at TILT for really taking care of us! Going to need to double up on the gym from this one. So worth it!

Unfortunately, I had to abruptly leave due to work but I managed to snag a cool water bottle and down one of the yummy vodka/​habanero drink.

Oh man, cocktails on a Sunday night is a dangerous proposition, Don. Luckily I didn’t have work today, so I could experience the debauchery that is TILT in The Pearl.
I haven’t been to the original Swan Island location, but the TILT in The Pearl keeps true to its roots while adapting for the area. Modern industrial and sleek decoration make this place seem very upscale but inviting.
The drinks were overall pretty interesting and tasty. I don’t remember the drink names, so I’m just going to give the description by color/​glass:
— The spicy pink one was one of my favorites, though it was not for everyone. It was initially very spicy, but it grew on you over time. Would have again, especially with a cold.
— The one in the tall glass with greens was not as good, as it was kind of overwhelmed with herbs. I only had a sip, so I may have had a bad impression.
— The dark brown one seemed to lack in depth of any sort; the initial flavor was fine, but otherwise one note.
— The green one with the rum and lemongrass/​cilantro was my favorite. Smooth, tasty, and I didn’t taste the cilantro. A win-​win!
Now the food was also very good. More consistently delicious, though I question the «springness» of the menu given how heavy everything was.
— Cheddar potato balls? Yum. I could eat these all day, even without the sauce.
— The slaw was nice, but overly spicy with the jalapenos. A bit more even-​handedness with the spice would make it an interesting contrast to the savory sandwiches, maybe even put in a sandwich!
— Fried chicken/​bacon sandwich: delicious. You can’t go wrong with that. Reminds me a bit of Pine State Biscuits.
— BBQ/​fried egg/​braised pork (?) sandwich: I don’t know if this sandwich needed the egg, but I didn’t mind it! The sauce made the sandwich for me, as well as the tenderness of the meat.
— Burger/​bacon/​??? sandwich: I know this was my favorite of the night, but I honestly don’t remember what was in it. Props to the cocktails for making me forget my one true love…
Overall, another wonderful event hosted by Don and Ana! I’m definitely checking out TILT again, but will account for the insane amount of food that will come with it.

I have been meaning to make my way to Tilt since they opened their first location on Swan Island and my friend claimed that he had the best burger of his life there. I was excited to see that there was an elite Unilocal event happening at the Pearl location. The first thing I did was text my friend so he could RSVP because I already knew it was going to be good.
The bartenders started handing us cocktails as soon as we walked by the bar to sign in. Honestly, I have no idea what any of those drinks were called but, every time I was emptied handed, a cocktail appeared. That’s hospitality right there! All the ones I tasted was light and refreshing – lots of citrus. After mingling a little bit, the food came out. I wish there was more vegetarian options, however, I have no self-​control and ended up taking bites of my friend’s sandwiches. The potato-​cheese balls were amazing! I enjoyed dipping them in the multiple selection of sauces.
Caught up with some Unilocal friends, met a few new people, had a couple drinks, received a new water bottle in my favourite color, played really bad ping-​pong, and ate mouthwatering food until I hated myself. I call that a successful evening! Go check out Tilt’s new food line up and thank you, Don and Anna, for planning this awesome event.

Thank you Don & Ana for putting on a delicious event for us Unilocalers. It was so great to finally meet a few of my new Unilocal friends in person, and to meet even more Yeeps!
Tilt welcomed us with creative cocktails — I only imbibed in one (it will be called the American Revival) because spring break is over, booooo. The bartender I chatted with, Reese, was cordial and informative. Wish I could have sampled more of their spring cocktails, but I guess that means I’ll have to come back!
The food «samples» were huge! The mini biscuit sandwiches were a huge hit, but I honestly got totally stuffed off just two (ok, and a lot of tots!). I had a chicken biscuit sandwich and a mouthwatering steak sandwich with mayo. Wish I had room for more, but alas, tots got to me. The cheddar tots were the size of golfballs, by the way. An excellent vehicle for Tilt’s sauces, I approve! Lastly, the spicy slaw was indeed spicy. It had distinct jalapeño and lime flavors. I loved it! It forced me to drink more water, never a bad thing.
I only stuck around for about 2 hours, on account of school starting bright and early the next day, but I’m seeing that people go to take leftovers home. How generous of Tilt to provide that much food!
On my way out, I ordered a salad to go – see my separate review of Tilt for that.
All in all, had a great time last night. Thanks again.

I sure did miss the Portland Elite crowd and the fabulous works of Don and Ana! As always, the Don «Tilted to Excess» B and Ana «one fifth of the An (n)a’s» B do not disappoint. The put on a party time yet be chill my heart event on a Sunday night filled with Tilt’s refreshing new Springtime imbibements plus tasty treats.
Top 5 Highlights not in any order:
1. Tito’s Ex (pink but with a cruel-​fun kick of jalapeño)
2. Reunited with the An (n)a’s — there were 5 of us total, but failed on finding the 5^th Anna. Still, we dominated!
3. Jalapenos in the coleslaw. This is brilliant! I want to eat this all Spring and Summer long.
4. Working woman/​man outfits. I still haven’t taken my bandana off! JK
5. Falernum! (orange drink). This one’s dedicated to all my almond lovers.

–The spicy pink one everyone said was spicy
–The one with the Thai flavorings (lemongrass & cilantro)

–The one that looked like a mojito?

–Go & Get It
I might not be great with this game.
But great mixing and mingling! Great heaping mounds of new menu items! Great nooks & crannies in the bowels of Tilt. Great balls of potato!
All in all, a splendid event put on by our PDX Unilocal team, bolstered by well-​executed service from Tilt ‘tenders who were genuinely interested in our feedback. I hope we helped.

TILT was an apt location for this Elite event because titled I did get!
First off, this place is HUGE. Our area was in the back by the ping pong table which isn’t even ¹⁄₃ of the whole space itself. I liked the décor — very working man, blue collar etc which makes sense cause that was the theme (that I did not participate in but many others did and it was awesome). I enjoyed watchin’ my fellow Yeeps play ping pong, some well and others quite badly.
There was no shortage of drinks, and whilst the names escape me, I enjoyed all of them — my favorite was the one with a spicy kick thanks to some habanero vodka. And the one with cilantro in it because I effing love cilantro. And the food! This was probably the first event I was at where there were leftovers. Yes, people, you read that correctly there were leftovers! The clear winner was the egg-​brisket-​BBQ sandwich that equated to a taste bomb in my mouth. I could have eaten the whole tray, but clearly did not since there was leftovers. The fried chicken ‘n’ biscuit was good too and I definitely enjoyed some of the friend balls of cheddar and bacon!
Big thanks to TILT, Don and Anna for such a great event! And thanks for the water bottle — I’m sippin’ H20 out of it as I type this!

Confession time, I was hung over from my weekend. I lusted to try this place because I knew and had heard the burgers were perfect comfort food. Tilt was more than generous, it was the perfect cure to my hangover and Sunday night blues. My favorite was the fried chicken and fried prime rib served on homemade biscuits, topped with bacon. The other sandwhiches included the burger and a ruben — all over-​loaded to the «Tilt» with meat!
The cocktails were a refereshing spring mix and flowing.
Loved the minimalistic décor of concrete, loft ceiling and tinctures at the bar.
I have to say all my Rosie the Riveter Eliter’s were dressed so perfect for the part.
It also was a nice event to get to mix and mingle and meet new Eliters from transplant cities and make new friends.
Thanks Don — it was great timing, a great idea and a nice mix and mingle.
If you excel at pong as in ping, this would be a fun place for the challenge.

This was only my second Portland Unilocal event and my first recent Pearl experience. It was good to be back in the warehouses, and Tilt was a great addition.
I am not normally a big consumer of alcohol, but I drank both of the cocktails I was offered, and they were the awesome. The first was a fabulous house-​made ginger syrup, pomegranate, absinthe, lime juice amaze balls concoction. It was great. Chilled and felt more like a chef’s taste than a wallop of alcohol (that came later).
The second drink was rum, orange juice and other good stuff. The first drink was tangy. This one was definitely on the sweet side, but it wasn’t overpowering. These were both some of the best I’ve had, and if I was out drinking, if be wishing I could order these everywhere. So. Good. Thank you for making such awesomeness. It was a fun space, too, with delightful-​smelling food. I didn’t get to try any, but I’m confident it was good.

I’d never been to a TILT before. «Built for the Modern Man» must mean SOLID American Food and Drink.
This Pearl District location is located diagonally from Blue Hour. Kinda cool, cause Blue Hour is certainly Hoytie Toytie and Tilt is billing itself as anything but. So, depending on how you view yourself, your appetite, etc. you can choose which corner to occupy. LOL.
I haven’t owned a pair of over-​alls since I was like 5 years old. And, I wear scrubs over 40 hours a week. There was no way I was putting scrubs on for Sunday fun. So, I dressed White Collar. Course, my collar may have been a bit lavender. LOL. I’m SO bad at dressing the THEME for these Elite parties. :(
The first solid hour of Hard Liquor and Sugar made us all ravenous. Once the food appeared we were on that like white on rice.
This event was SOLID. Thanks so much to DON and TILT.
All I can think about are chicken and biscuits.

Burgers should exclusively be served on biscuits from now on. This is the future of sliders! Oh, and I’ll put this out there for consideration/​hazing: I thought their chicken-​bacon biscuits blew Pine State’s outta the water.
What a fun night! I’m just going to echo what all the other Unilocalers said on the fabulous food and drink offerings. Worth mentioning though is the actual LAYOUT and STRUCTURE of this shiny new Tilt location. They did a great job of balancing sleek and industrial design, and it’s a nice open space with lots of room to roam. And the cement bench tables outside will be a huge hit this summer.
Great meeting some other Elites! I like these events because we’re all forced to connect with each other, instead of huddling in the corner clutching a cocktail with your everyday friend.

Hollar for Sunday Funday action at Tilt!
Firstly, Thank you Anna, Don and whoever else may have been a part of our Unilocal Tilt treat!
last night was well played. In fact, played exactly how I like to play my nights out. Start with the cocktails– catch a good empty stomach buzz, then load up on the carbs, because at that point you’ll eat all those tasty fluffy biscuit sandwiches without questions or guilt!
The variety of cocktails available to try was fantastic! pink ones, orange ones, cranberry colored ones, muddled mint and dirty pink ones. I have no memory of what was in each one but if you didn’t like the fushia one, try the spicy one, or the orange one. points for variety to satisfy the masses.
I am partial to tilt, it has a little something for everyone and last night they showed their sunday’s best by serving up things straight from their menu’s: Bacon Burger biscuit sandwiches, philly cheese steaks on toast, fried chicken sandwiches and jalapeño coleslaw! yums!
Great night of mingling and even better were the blue collar work uniforms!

About 5 or so cocktails including a spicy pink cocktail (my favorite) to drink and evaluate — check!
A buffet style of new items to devour — check!
Spicy Spicy slaw that didn’t hold back the heat — check!
New and old Yeeps to mingle and kickback for 2 plus hours — check!
Got to take food home due to Tilt’s generosity — check!
Tilt’s staff was on point and made sure we got to try all the cocktails they were offering. The bartenders crafted their cocktails like an elaborate science experiment without fail. I am sitll full from last night hence Tilt delivered! Thanks again Don, Ana M. and the staff for another excellent event to remember!

I don’t wanna weigh myself tomorrow!
First off, there was mingling with new folks that I haven’t met yet. There are always fun, Elite people to talk with at the events.
The space was somewhat industrial, but Pearlized. Different feel than the location on Swan Island. I was impressed with their draught beer, wine, and cocktail selection on the chalkboard above.
Tilt offered a great selection of cocktails! Unfortunately, I had this silly notion to quit drinking for one month, so I did not get to try these treats. I was nervous to be without my social lubricant! Help.
The one cocktail that sounded like it would be my favorite was the one with Pomegranate and Habanero (served in a cosmo fashion). I heard a lot of the Unilocalers talk about this one, they either loved it or hated it.
The food was legit and a bit gut busting. Numerous mini sandwhiches that packed a lot of flavor and a lot of ingredients, not so MINI. The coleslaw, I am not a big fan anyway, but I did like the Jalapenos added.
The tots stuffed with Cheddar! Get outta here! The sandwhiches included: Burger, Brisket, Ham, Egg, Roast Beef, Kraut, and many other relishes and toppings, too many to mention or discern. The sandwhich bread was like a texas toast — thick, with good crust.
I have a sweet tooth and was hoping for some dessert, either they didn’t offer it, or I left too early. I’ve read great things about their pies and such.
Only complaint: No sight of Napkins around really, the best I could gather was a few black bev naps from behind the bar.
Staff seemed happy and alert. The space was busy —even without the Unilocal crowd.

Big thanks to Don and Anna for a really cool event. It was good to put actual faces to some of the Unilocal only people I’ve connected to in the short six months I have been here.
The drinks were decent. The one with Four Roses Whiskey and cardamom was by far the winner for me and the amount of food was overwhelming. The egg sandwich was soooooo good. Free Unilocal water bottles to boot!
Had a great time at Tilt.
