Kim, the owner, has been doing my hair since I was a little girl and have done an amazing job. I have natural hair and Kim has helped nourished my hair since I’ve damaged it when I was young. She has done highlights on me that looked beautiful in the summer. She has done waves and curls using professional tools and never left my hair damaged. I love the vibe of the salon and I also love another stylist Sylvia who does amazing styles. Kim and Sylvia are knowledgeable and open minded as well as accommodate to people’s cultures and religion. Women and people can feel comfortable. Kim and Sylvia have a great connection with young women and is so fun to have conversations with. Kim has many years of experience and works with all hair types and I have referred her many times to my friends and family members. I would also like to add that she did my cousins hair for a wedding, who was 2 years old at the time and was super patient with her. The customer service is wonderful. Since I’ve been coming to Kim my hair has been getting much healthier and longer and if it wasn’t for her, I don’t think my hair would be where it is now. Forever be a loyal customer!

Being new in town it’s hard to find a new barber. Was not disappointed at all with Deans. Pearl cut my hair and did a fantastic job and was a pleasure to talk with. Deans will now be my new spot glad I took a chance.

Excellent haircut. I went in to see Curt but he was busy. Pearl cut my hair and she did an excellent job. Very friendly atmosphere. Highly recommend.

This is THE ONLY place I get my hair cut. Came here after a recommendation by a close friend. Friendly staff, neighborhood feel. Dean knows what he’s doing!

Justin was right. This is a great barbershop. It is busy on Saturday’s so I didn’t get Curtis this time. But I had Pearl cut my hair and she has to be as good as Curtis. After many half baked haricuts since moving here, this one was perfect. Pearl took her time and made sure every part of the haircut was perfect. And it was.

I came in here and got a great haircut, hands down the best one I’ve had since moving to Portland. You will definitely want to call ahead and schedule an appointment with Curtis, you can walk in, but Saturday’s are usually pretty busy.
One half of the building is a woman’s salon the other is the men’s barber side. Started in 1953 its one of (if not the) oldest continuously operated barber shops in Portland. Curtis sees people that still come in from those first years.
Curtis took his time and did a very thorough job. Not many missed hairs found later on and it looks sharp.
We didn’t talk much, but we were talking and I said that I just heard this piece of advice that you should either make time for fitness now or make time for being sick later on. Curtis said that reminded him of the part in the Shawshank Redemption when Morgan Freeman’s character tells Andy Dufresne that he’s going to have a lot of time to spend here and he has two choices: get to living or get to dying. I thought that was really cool.
