I just started classes here and it is a breath of fresh air. I was looking for fusion style bellydancing and I found it here. I walked in and felt at home. The teachers are amazing and the energy is great! I live about a half hour away and it’s worth the drive to learn from what I think is the best studio in Portland!

Best place on the planet

I had a brief visit to Portland about a year or so ago, and one of the top must see’s on my list was Datura! It was my dance Mecca and luckily I was in the area. I decided to try a drop in class with my cousin while I was there, just to get the full experience. The Studio is a small space but it’s immediately recognizable on the street due to the cute window decorations and signage.
Inside it’s amazing, and has a bazaar like feel to it. You almost feel like you’re being transported into a studio set off the beaten path in the Middle East. My dance teacher for the evening was very welcoming and made us feel at home immediately. The actual dance space is very spacious and beautifully adorned with a hanging carpet/​tapestry and perfectly lit with ample space to move.
The class flew by quickly and I was sad to have to leave. I again thanked all the students and instructor again for taking us in only for the evening. I left with a cool new T-​shirt (yay shopping!) and a big grin on my face.
If it wasn’t for my real life I would move to Portland and start classes right away. What’s not to love about this place? For anyone in the area interested in belly dance, this is the cream of the crop!

The best place to study belly dance in Portland. Don’t bother going elsewhere! I always leave feeling happy and pleasantly exhausted.

One of the most authentic and wonderful dance studios Iv been too. Warm warm people and the dancing will pretty much knock your socks off in the best possible way. Love this place!
