Darling’s Hair Salon

This salon has a pretty pretentious attitude for a place that HARDLY EVER ANSWERS ITS PHONE! This place thinks it is some swanky Beverly Hills-​type salon when it is just a tiny little salon in a pretty broken-​down area on the edge of downtown Portland. After my regular hair stylist left this salon and moved out of the area, this salon did not try to help me transition to another stylist at the salon AT ALL!!! I have been on a «cancellation list» for Richard for over two months with no notice of any cancellation. When I called today (after three attempts to get someone over there to ANSWER THE PHONE), I was unfortunate enough to speak with a very addled and frazzled woman named Rita, who told me that Richard did, in fact, have an opening on March 17. I quickly pounced and asked to be scheduled for the appointment, and then Rita began to backpedal like there was no tomorrow, saying that I was a new client to Richard, so he didn’t want the appointment, and he is not accepting any new clients at all (wow, must be nice to just turn down business that came walking right up to you, especially in this economy!), and then she tried lying and saying that there wasn’t really an appointment available for Richard at all on March 17 (even though she had just told me there was…). Skip this Beverly Hills-​wannabe and go to a place that actually VALUES its customers!!!

I followed Richard here from his previous salon, after 31 years of incredible service. There is a reason people have to wait to get in to see him. Debra, Rita and the rest are super people. When you realize you have a good thing going, accept it. I did.

I haven’t used the hair services, but the best nail tech in town just joined this salon — Lisa! She does fabulous work with nails, and she also is charming, funny and gorgeous. Go see her for mani, pedi, acyrlics, whatever. You will enjoy it and so will your nails.

If you want glamorous hair for any occasion you must have Bettie do your hair! She is fabulous at styling hair! I leave her chair looking like a pin up queen!

Yvette is a super efficient hair dresser. Not only is she fast but I’m always pleased with the cut and color! I highly recommend Yvette for cut and/​or color

I am so glad Bettie, my stylist, moved to this great salon. Its in a nice location with easy parking. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. Bettie is amazing. She has given me my all time favorite haircut and color… ever! She is fun and very good at what she does, and I would recommend her and this salon to anyone.

My hairstylist Debra Woods Walker just moved to this salon and I am telling you I LOVE LOVE IT. I love the free parking, the easy access from anywhere and the general vibe is awesome.
