This is another nice colorful and modern aluminum sculpture by Mel Katz .(made in 2006) Â It has nice colors but I don’t really get what it is saying but I like how it looks. Â I guess it was named because of the leg looking base of the sculpture. Â In an area of the bus mall lined with historic buildings I like its modern contrast. Â Note Mel Katz was born in New York and came to Oregon with his then wife Vera Katz.

Daddy Long Legs brings some groove to Downtown Portland. It has some neat gray, green and orange colors. The sculpture is wavy and brings variety to the older buildings nearby. In some respects it is crisp like a potato chip compared to the other imposing sculptures. Both the legs and the body intertwine in a hard to describe way. I walked up to the sculpture amidst my commute. There was lots of legs on the creature, perhaps being a humanoid spider as the name might entail. The multiple lines show a body worthy of dancing. Daddy Long Legs could be a coffeehouse logo someday.
