I joined when this location first opened. They have a number of classes and most of the instructors are great. But they have a new one teaching the Tread and Shed class in the mornings and he insists on blasting music from a boom box during his class. This class is out in the main area and there is already music playing on the overhead speakers. He never turns that off, so you have two different types of music playing at the same time. The manager suggested I just come to the gym at a different time. Not the best environment for a workout.

You’re not at Equinox, but that’s okay because Crunch Division is only $ 10/​month. If you come in the morning, you’ll encounter clean facilities, small class sizes, and good workout vibes. However, on weekday evenings, you might have trouble finding an open machine, open parking, and/​or open classes. That being said, the staff here is friendly and competent, and this place is a bargain. In the world of fitness, that’s worth the inconvenience. (Plus, I’m a morning gym-​goer anyway.)
I’d highly recommend checking out any class by Satha; she’s upbeat and newbie-​friendly. You don’t have too much time left, but there’s only a $ 1 enrollment fee through the end of January. Good luck with your workout goals!

Nice facility! They’ve got some great new stuff like a flip tire and turf with a sled and Olympic lifting platform.

This location isn’t as well kept as the location in Gresham which I frequent more often. The staff is friendly and the machines are the same no matter which location you are at. Cell phone service is pretty bad. It was almost impossible to listen to my Pandora without an interruption. Overall good place to workout for the low cost of $ 10 per month.

The hours listed on Unilocal are incorrect. On Fridays they are only open until 10! How does Unilocal get hours of operation? I have found, on a handful of occasions, that hours posted are inconsistent with the actual hours. Many people use this site, but as it becomes unreliable, the more like it will go down in flames. Unilocal-​please work to provide accurate information.

Well, you definitely get what you get for $ 10/​month. At $ 10 you get access to the whole gym, classes, and locker room. If you upgrade to premium, which I think is $ 20/​month, you get all of that as well as being able to go to their other locations (there is one in Beaverton for sure), unlimited access to their tanning beds, a discount on supplements, and there might be more but those are the major points I think…
The gym is self is very clean, the machines are relatively new and they seem to always try to update the place. They just put in some astroturf where you can push and pull heavy weight. They have a few jungle gyms, punching bags, and a lot of TRX bands.
There is only 1 room for group X but it’s pretty big. With that, if the personal training area is full, and there is a class in session, unless you wanna do weights or work on a machine (weight or cardio) you’re out of luck.
It’s busy, a lot. A lot.
Staff are very friendly. The women’s locker room stinks. I don’t know what the men’s is like but it always smells in there.

I just recently joined Crunch Gym, so this review is a first impression snap shot.
The price to join is a smoking deal. $ 9.99 a month
This gives me access to all the machines and boxing bags, the heavy rope thingy, free weights, all classes. Pretty much everything except the suntanning machine.(extra cost for that).
The locker rooms are clean and well maintained.
They also have a juice bar.
Helpful trainers (extra for one on one attention)
All and all I like it because to be truthful, I’m not a gym rat type dude and felt like a slob every time I was at another place… this place however, has a more «I’m trying to get my ass in shape» vibe and I’m OK with that. I go in, pump some weights and I’m out. Easy-​Peasy.
The early mornings, like most gyms are less crowded.

The staff here are actually really nice and helpful. They aren’t snobby. I have the peak package, and bought a protein shake and they offer 20% off with the extra 10 $ a month. I recently met with a trainer for my free assessment… And she was very encouraging without being extra pushy. Every question I asked she answered in a professional matter and shared some of her tips to help me out. The workout environment is nice, I don’t get weird stares or anything. The equipment is great as well, many different machines to help with directions and also free weights, mats, boxing bags, ropes. Overall I really enjoy the helpful staff and cheap price. Getting a personal trainer for the long haul is pretty frickin’ spendy though… But they offer packages to give you some good deals. I suggest this gym over the gross 24 hour fitness etc gyms, because the place is nice and clean and isn’t huge with snobby staff. Also, no contract!

I was advised by a personal trainer that I could cancel my training without using it at any time. I called the gym first to see what was needed to do this. I was then advised by service manager that this was incorrect. NO ONE ever went over the cancellation policy with me and I feel that they prey on fat customers to get them to buy into expensive training packages. The service manager refused to let me talk to his boss or the owner of the franchise to resolve this.
This place is a joke!!! 3 trainers and nothing to show for it. what a waste of money and time.

It was great while I was a member, but as soon as I wanted to cancel that’s when all the problems started. I tried cancelling over the phone and that didn’t work out. I was still getting charged. I went in and cancelled and they kept charging me, so I came to cancel AGAIN and to yell at them they sent me home. (assholes) Later that week I get a letter from their collectors and they demanded I pay them for another month of service. Even though I cancelled two months ago. For the 5 months of my «membership» I payed about $ 320 when I could have paid the same amount at 24 hour fitness or L.A. fitness which is 100x better.

I actually used to work for another gym franchise and had been very loyal to them for quite a long time. But I recently moved, and Crunch is a 10min walk (5 min bike ride,) from my new place so I decided to bite the bullet and switch things up. I have the «peak» membership because I enjoy taking fitness classes, and I like the access to any crunch gym (if in out in Beaverton I can still work out, or in another state for that matter.) It also gives me «unlimited tanning,» which I think is totally strange and unnecessary and not really something a gym should be encouraging… They also don’t have any frills. No pool, no hot tub, no sauna, but that is how they keep the cost down so it’s totally fine by me. $ 200 for the entire year is pretty unbeatable. And if you just want a basic membership, it’s only $ 100 for the whole year. Score!

Great price and great place to sweat. I’ve been a member for almost 2 years and really don’t have many complaints. I mean its only $ 10 + an annual $ 30 membership fee. The staff are nice and the trainers are in shape and helpful.
I love the classes and the times they’re offered. The people who workout at crunch are not like 24hr fitness folks that are already Ken’s & Barbie’s and look at you like you’re the 1000lb man! They people who work out here are nice and have non-​judgemental vibes.
No it doesn’t offer childcare, basketball/​racquet court or pool but I rarely used these type of amenities at LA or 24hr so It doesn’t bother me that its not there.

I’ve been going here for several months and this gym fits my needs great at a pretty low price. All I want in a gym is reliable cardio equipment that doesn’t have «sorry I’m broken» signs for weeks, availability of different TV stations to watch as I’m working out, and a decent selection of weights. There is also a «30 minute weight workout’ row of weight machines, which is an easy ready-​made circuit if you don’t have experience with weight lifting.
The place is pretty clean and much nicer than I thought it would be, given the low monthly cost. I used to go to the 24 Hour in Hollywood, and I find the equipment at Crunch is in better condition, the place is cleaner, and it’s a third of the cost. But it doesn’t have the pool, sauna, or basketball courts, but I never used those anyway.
The staff can be pushy and weird when you first sign up, because they want to up-​sell you on the membership tier and for personal training. But that’s an issue at other gyms I’ve been to, as well. But they are pretty friendly otherwise.

I adored Crunch until I tried to cancel my account. They called and told me to write a letter to cancel the account, so I did. Six months later I am still being charged! I have called numerous times, talked to the manager three times, and no results. I have been trying to cancel since June. They have stolen about $ 160 dollars from me so far. When will it end?!

Came in for a personal training appointment & it was double booked. Asked me if I could come back in 4 hours… Ya right. Way to promote your gym, sending freebies in the mail & the first appointment u make doesn’t even work out?

I love crunch gym. I have been going here consistently for the past 6 months. The gym is nice and clean and the staff is very friendly. Equipment is new and gym never seams overcrowded. Crowd that works out here is diverse and on a lot of different fitness levels, so you can go here and feel very comfortable (even when you’re winded on a treadmill! No big deal!)
I just have feedback on a few things that, if fixed, would change my review to 5 stars.
I wish they had a high rep/​low weight class like 24 hour fitness. There needs to be an expansion of classes offered, and they need to occur more frequently like 24 hour fitness.
The wifi is non-​existent. Meanwhile, Pandora is draining my data while it’s been well over a month and it still isn’t fixed.
Lastly, the AC needs to be turned up in the back of the gym. The front and middle stay nice and cool, but the area in back where the stair steppers are located gets unbearably hot. It makes me want to avoid that area, even though I reaaaaaallly need it. Haha.
These are minor things, but they do matter. Crunch, you know I loooove you, but please fine tune these issues. :)

It’s Planet Fitness, but worse (no Pizza Day :((()
Currently going here because my friend snagged me a guest pass for a week long stay on the SE side of Portland while I get settled. I needed to lift something before I went insane from being away from a gym for so long so I decided to go with it and see what happens.
Copy and Paste for Shitty Commercial Gym: 90% cardio equipment, one squat rack that is busy with some guy dicking around on his phone all day, and plenty of Zumba classes if you want to slightly sway your arms around to Top 40 music for an hour. Slap a couple shitty quotes around the gym walls and put TV’s everywhere to distract the poor souls from their voluntary torture and there you have it.
To make sure I didn’t get kicked out I tried to not make too much noise with the weights or pretend to know what I am doing while I help my friend and answer her questions. I was informed that wasn’t allowed here. (But no judging u guyz!)
I mean if you just want to come here and run a 5k on a treadmill you’re all set. It’s just not my scene.

I used this gym on a trial pass. This gym was just okay. They offer great deals and services to customers, such as tanning services and the opportunity to bring a friend with a monthly fee cheaper than most competitors. I was hoping they’d be open more hours and if so I would join this gym.
I found the Gresham location Crunch to be much better and nicer than this one on Division. Reason being, everything at this Division location one felt clustered. The machines were all very close together. As for equipment, I only saw one calf machine which was a seated one (no standing machine option), no dead life area, as well as no hack squat. There was only one squat area, and the rest of the squat stations were smith machines.
For the low prices and deals this gym offers, I really do think it’s a great gym. There is some workout equipment I wish they did have that they don’t, but if you know what you’re doing in the gym it’s not hard to make it work. As for now, I’m considering switching from 24 hour fitness to here.

I honest-​to-​goodness really like this gym. I joined before they even opened and I’ve been very happy. It’s pretty no frills but, really, for $ 9.99/mo + $ 29.99 annual fee, what do you expect?
Yes it gets crowded after work but it’s fine. Waiting for a treadmill? Start stretching and within 3 minutes a machine will open up. Insider tip: machines are considerably less crowded on Tue & Thu evenings because so many people follow a Mon Wed Fri routine.
The many TV’s show a nice variety of programs. There’s always ABC, NBC, CBS, HGTV, ESPN, and others. I love watching Jeopardy from the treadmill.
I’ve taken a variety of classes: Tread & Shed, Yoga, LA Blast. I don’t understand why Zumba gets 5000 people per class, and LA Blast draws a small crowd. I think LA Blast is a riot. I’ve actually never gone to a Zumba class at Crunch because they’re SO crowded. The line starts forming 20 minutes before class time. Beware the Tuesday yoga — it’s for very advanced students.
The biggest reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because, by the time I show up at 5pm-​ish, the women’s locker room and bathroom need attention. 2x I’ve used the restroom only to discover I had no TP. The TP is super thin single-​ply. And, you know, I’ve seen things in the locker room that I can’t un-​see. Just sayin’. Some things really should remain private no matter what.
Before Crunch, I belonged to LA Fitness. I had to quit there because it was so ghetto. The staff didn’t bother at all to monitor client behavior and be sure everyone can enjoy the gym. Bare feet on machines, anyone? Ew. I digress. If you want to know more, read my review of LA Fitness Eastport.
I like the staff, the fellow patrons, the equipment, the classes, and the atmosphere of Crunch. I’ll be a member for a long time to come.
Allow me to end with four suggestions for improvement:
1. Clean the womens locker room mid-​day so it’s clean for the evening rush.
2. Offer Friday evening classes. I would especially love a Sunday evening yoga, to recharge before the workweek.
3. Stay open later on Friday & Saturday nights. I’m a total night owl. I’d love a good late evening workout.
4. Please fire whoever chooses your piped-​in music. I’ve frequently described it as 1970’s and 80’s «Bottom 40.» Sometimes you’ll surprise me with a great U2, Coldplay, Green Day, etc tune. But mostly it’s utter garbage.

Awesome value! For the low monthly membership fee ($ 9.95 for basic and $ 19.95 for Premium) you are getting a good variety of work out equipments, clean, new, and a gym that takes good care of them.
Hours is not an issue at all for me– I go after dinner around 8 – 10. They close at 11, always open spots and it’s not crowded! I guess the opening rush is now gone.
Will try the unlimited tanning soon, one of the perks of getting the Premium membership. In addition you are also allow to go to other locations and bring a guest per visit.
Check in process is easy– scan your card and go in.
Bathroom is clean too, with lockers (bring your own lock!), water fountain, scale, and apple smelling soap!
