Crossroads Restaurant & Bar

I would never go here willingly, but out of town acquaintances were staying in the hotel and invited us over for drinks and a meal.
We ordered drinks, bottle of wine, appetizers, 4 mains. The drinks were good, service was distant, uncaring as well as clueless.
Pretty confident the chef was fresh out of hard-​time Federal Prison with only prerequisite culinary skills of a microwave:
Avoid starters of salads, calamari, smelly fishy shrimp quesadilla. avoid it all. Salads were comprised of some limpy, brown and slimy leaves, uuuhhhgggg. We said something to the server and he said, «Oh, looks like the lettuce is a bit brown, but won’t hurt you. I can get you new salads if you like». HMMMmmmm. ‘It won’t hurt you, if we like’, as if we were putting him out. New salads arrived and were an improvement.
Calamari aka ‘rubber with breading then fried’ had a decent sauce. I should have just ordered a bowl of that for a meal.
The two gentlemen ordered the highly recommended Prime Rib ‘RARE’ and it arrived Well-​Done (not a speck of pink in site), tough and dry. The salmon was ‘edible’. The porterhouse steak resembled the prime rib in cooking technique warmed in a microwave (medium-​rare also arrived well done), dry and gristly.
We reported our dissatisfaction to the server after flagging him down. He sent the porterhouse back to be re-​cooked (more of a medium arrived with same gristle all over the poor cut). He said, «The prime rib was as rare as they had so they could swap for another meal or keep it». Based on the other table disasters, they kept their thick lumps o’leather (hockey puck anyone?). We were not comped for the poor meals (3 out of 4) or provided with an apology as to the quality of food.
Maybe Happy Hour is a better bet, but I’m not willing to gamble. It tops one of the worst meals ever across the board. Given their prices, it’s a farce.

Three stars might be due to room service. Ordered a French dip with fruit, New York strip, and brownie with ice cream.
The steak was good but sides were so-​so. The au jus for the French dip was so thick and salty that the first bite destroyed my taste buds. After I diluted it with water it was much better. Brownie was ok but the ice cream was melted. Again, this could be due to room service.

I like this place its comfortable. It’s right inside the Embassy Suites. I stay here often. The service is impeccable. Good choice of drinks and food. The food is «bar type» but always fresh. Nice atmosphere and if you have a drink and stay here there’s no driving.. It can get busy but I retire early so I miss any crowds. No dancing but looks like a great friend meet up spot. Enjoy!

tired of the same olé haunts, I thought’d pop in for a pint at the Hotel bar-​I just finished hitting balls at Red Tail.
The bar was very busy, a few animated dudes surrounding the bar. They must’ve been here on a conference. Lively, not from around here crowd.
Beer = uninteresting. I had a pint of Widmer Drop Top for $ 5.75. Menu said $ 5.50.
The menu looked good for steakhouse/​seafood fare. I would like to try a dinner here, perhaps with the family. I am not sure exactly where the dining room is? There is a big pavilion adjacent to the lounge, maybe that’s where. It appears they offer a complimentary happy hour for hotel guests. I saw someone inquiring about it, sounds cool – if that’s true.
Service reasonably attentive.

Not bad for complimentary meal to make up for the stupid room service at Embassy Suites Portland!
Located inside the Embassy Suites, the Crossroads is not bad if you are sick and tired of the breakfast buffet and cheap drinks coctktail service.
Room service is poor at the Embassy Suites.

I really enjoyed the BBQ Chicken salad (had them add a side of BBQ sauce) the other day. Wife liked the seafood stew, sauce had a hint of spice. Fresh baked bread a delicious touch. Trying the club sandwich today and she’s having the grilled vegetable/​goat cheese salad. The goat cheese was not you’re expected sprinklings, but rather two wedges each the size one would expect from a cheese cake dessert. The fruit garnishes were very fresh and flavorful, despite it being December.

Cannot believe I spent $ 45 for dinner (actually room service) and it was AWFUL. I barely ate it and was still hungry! Go to Taco Bell. You’ll be much better off. I ordered the stuffed salmon because the staff person who answered the room service phone suggested it. YUCK. Very little flavor and a weird texture and I stopped eating it because I was afraid if it was bad and I would get sick. Rice was tasteless and undercooked. They also recommended the Apple Cobbler and that was the worst! Pie filling with pastry on top and it was VERY dry. The best part of the meal was the bread and even it was oily.

Been to this little place a couple of times. My work occasionally puts on celebrations here so me and the hunny stop in here to get the night started before going somewhere else or to the event for the evening. Just a small place inside the hotel and they give you good service and drinks. We haven’t ever eaten here, well I haven’t but saw some of the folks next to us get food and it didn’t look to shabby! Might try the food here some day.

The service is great, and the servers are from all over the world. Really, it is interesting to have a talk with someone from another country, people everywhere should try it.
The food is pretty good, in the 3 – 4 star range (closer to 3). It’s a little spendy $$ for what you get to be honest.
We’ve met a few Portland locals here. They actually come here, to a hotel restaurant. I find that interesting. We always ask people where they’re from when they come up to say hi to the baby (I mean, it’s awkward to not have any clue about the person who is touching and stroking your baby) and they always say Portland, Tigard, Beaverton… I guess that says something about Portland’s dining scene. Or maybe it says something about this restaurant.
We like it, don’t avoid it if you’re staying at the Embassy Suites. I might not go out of my way for it but you know me, I just want a gyro and a Diet Coke. For less than 10 dollars.
