Scot Eliot has helped me with two distinctly separate and wide-​ranging legal issues. One was a real estate matter in which I received excellent advise and was able to successfully resolve the issue. Another was with my son’s employment discharge and resulting dispute with the employer over employment benefits. Some of my roommates and I sought out the help of CLP for help with a dispute with our landlord. We came to the conclusion that the the best first step would be writing a letter. The fees were very reasonable and the letter was a helpful start. The downside was that it took a few calls and emails for him to respond for payment to send the letter. We never had a formal agreement to continue, but I would only think it makes sense to go forward with them after the letter did not resolve our issues. After two weeks of waiting for a response to our call about taking the next step to a resolution I emailed asking if we needed to find another attorney. He responded with an apology for «dropping the ball» on returning my call and that we didn’t have a «deal» and we should find another attorney. I feel very much let down and that we would have been left thinking we had their services and waiting for a response had I not asked. I thought non profits were about helping the little people not crushing their spirits in already stressful times. Maybe we just didn’t have enough promise for a pay out to them…
Update: We were given refund. It was helpful and we are grateful to not have to pay more for consultation with a new lawyer on top of the set back of having to start this process over.
