I love this place! Strong drinks, nice people and the hipest crowd ever. David Chow the owner is a very nice guy and will come say hi.

I had the bartender come and slam my tab down on the table with attitude. Both the cocktail wItresses apologized; the other bartender expressed concern about how the final bill was shown to be on her shift. After that she went back to business as normal while the cocktailers made great effort to apologize. Weird night.

Where else can you go to get Chinese food, a hot toddy, and be entertained by mediocre singers 7 days a week? Does such a place exist? It sure does! Formerly at Burnside, and now on 33rd and Sandy, Chopsticks is alive and well and is the perfect mix of dive bar/dance floor/get your sing on. To be fair, there is some amazing talent that frequents this place, and depending on what night you go on, the rotation can be short. Of course you’re going to wait over an hour on weekends! That’s to be expected! In the meantime, grab a drink and go play some pool or pinball or lottery, or just be prepared to be wildly entertained by all the song choices! I don’t know what that Chris guy was talking about with the soda. They’re like $ 1.50. He did mention that he ordered some food, so I can see how food+drinks would add up to $ 10. That’s actually really cheap! I can definitely say that when I’m running low on funds but want to get my drink on, I’ll go to Chop. Drinks are poured strong, good Chinese food, free entertainment. What else do you need?

Fuck this place. What kind of karaōke bar allows its DJ to take tips to move people closer up the queue?! I was waiting an hour to sing and some guy who just waltzed into the bar started singing the song I put in because he gave the DJ $ 20. I went back to see where I was in the line cause I didn’t know this was how it worked and he said, «at least an hour out.» Not cool. I officially boycott this place until they change how they run Karaōke. Too bad cause otherwise, I like it.

If you want the quintessential karaōke experience, this is the place to get it. The night we were there, it was 80% bad singers, 15% pretty good, and 5% AWESOME. Fun was had by all. The table service was quick and cheerful — accommodating many separate checks in our large party. Stiff drinks and good prices toped the experiences off. They have off street parking in a small lot on the north side of the building.

This is Portland away-from-downtown scene best keep secret! It’s a karaōke bar with outdoor patio & spacious seatings, mixed age crowds without the douches & «bros» type you’d fine in downtown. Very cool vibes here perfect for groups. bartender makes strong drinks & the full Chinese food menu is served late night! great friendly service from staff as well… and especially the owner.

The«How can be?» spirit of the venerable, soon-to-be-razed Chopsticks II: Stargate Lounge lives on in its new incarnation, a stone’s throw away on a rapidly-gentrifying stretch of NE Sandy Blvd. Gone are the years of accumulated grit and grime that gave the original location that«lived-in» feel, here to stay are the excellent staff and karaōke regulars that made Chopsticks II a home-away-from-home for so many endearing oddballs, misfits, weirdos, and né’er-do-wells. The food is also the same as before(it’s really not that bad) and the sound system and lighting set-up are actually IMPROVED. Best of all, location is larger and song rotation is shorter, so people with lots of friends(not me) and microphone hogs(me) alike will find much to rejoice about in the new Chopsticks. 6⁄5
