This is our first visit to the Milwaukie Changs. We have only gone to the 122nd in the past but moved close to this one so we decided to save the drive and go here. Never again! It’s obvious the place is under staffed. The vegetable and meat area hadn’t been wiped down the entire time we were here. The area around the cook top was covered in oil and not something I wanted to touch. The cooks were young kids that didn’t care about the quality of their cooking. The blonde one was so careless that half of people’s veggies were tossed off. When they were cooking if the person didn’t add enough juices they took water from the hand washing sink to cook with. If I recall the other changs has two separate sinks. Finally when refilling the veggies they didn’t remove the tongs. They just dumped everything right on top. Which I know isn’t right. Also, I they were not consistent on refilling items. Save yourself and go to a different changs. This one is careless in their service. The only saving grace was our waiter Tyler. Not only was he assisting the kitchen in getting things refilled he also managed to get us everything we needed. He was running circles around everyone else.

Good food however they need to make sure their bowls are throughly clean. Other than that staff are friendly and the lunch price is very fair.

We just came home from a lovely evening eating fantastic food. Tonight is my birthday, and they have a very special deal for the birthday girl or boy. You may phone them to see what it is. It is amazing! The restaurant is not beautiful inside or out. Someday they will renovate it, but it is not bad as it is and it is clean. I liked the Mongolian horseman on the mural! The food was fresh and delicious. While it is true that a couple vegetable serving bowls contained only a tiny bit of not beautiful vegetables, when I pointed it out, they immediately filled up the bowls with wonderfully fresh and beautiful items. I can understand how things might run out quickly since when we were there over 100 other guests were going through the line. They do a superb business because people enjoy a real bargain: Good clean fresh food, well prepared for a moderate price. They keep up with the huge volume of people, and it was amazingly clean considering that! There are lots of meats: Chicken, pork, lamb, salmon, one other kind of fish, shrimp, Krab, beef. There are excellent vegetables. You can put on whatever sauces you like from a large variety to choose among. There are three suggested recipes for sauces you can use if you like or you can create your own. I had two bowls, each with a totally different combination, and both were excellent! The food was nicely cooked on a clean grill by energetic and skilled chefs. It was very well cooked. One bowl was cooked a little more than the other but both times they seemed excellent. We had a total of four bowls between us and all were PERFECT. After you get the food, which is cooked while you watch, you can add condiments: Peanuts, hot pepper flakes, sesame seeds, hot sauce and the fabulous plum sauce. The plum sauce is so good that my mother and I joked about drinking it. At our table, we were offered two kinds of soup. The egg flower one was not to my mother’s liking: Too salty. The hot and sour one was FANTASTIC, and I would consider going out to just get a large bowl of that. It is DEFINITELY homemade from scratch! Also, with the meal one is given a bowl of rice and a plate of wraps. The wraps are fun: You can put meat and veg inside and eat like a burrito only lighter due to food cooked without extra fat that usually comes with Mexican food.(I love Mexican food!) We enjoyed the meal. We ate like pigs or kings.(We choose to say we ate like kings!) We thought we were done, when out came small bowls of soft vanilla ice cream with either chocolate or caramel topping! This and the soup and the wraps and the rice are all included with the meal. There were other people there who have bigger appetite than my mother and i have. I saw a man get a huge bowl full of lamb. Another got just shrimp — a whole bowl full. These are not cheap meats. While it is true that these meats were recently frozen, that is very common in restaurants. It is totally OK to have as much food as you want. You could probably stay there all day eating. I observed a few people going back for thirds fourths or fifths!(We just got seconds) I found no unclean bowls or silverware or table or anything. I smelled nothing unsavory, and I am very sensitive. The servers and cooks(chefs) were all competent and happy despite having a HUGE crowd that kept coming in and coming in. They were so busy that we had to wait about 20 minutes at the start for a table. We did not mind! The servers and all the employees were nice people. I left more of a tip than I had planned due to enjoying myself more than I expected. We saw some giant groups who were having parties, and they all seemed happy. It is not beautiful inside, as I said, and that might be the only drawback for a celebration! Finally after paying and getting the special Birthday price(WOW!!!) I noticed they had fortune cookies. They are something I LOVE! So, even after all the other goodies, they offered that and all the peppermint candies you want! We love Changs. We go only when we are hungry, though, because the food is so good! GREATBIRTHDAY place.

The place is disgusting. Great concept, but beyond filthy. Won’t be going back ever.

This was the first time I had been here and I came alone. When I first walked in I was seated and asked if I wanted soup, I ordered the hot and site which was delicious. Next they asked if I wanted some sort of wrap and rice, I wasn’t sure if it was included in the price or not or what it was so I declined. I read the menu and was still slightly unclear of what to do. I followed other customers to the buffet line of raw meat, uncooked noodles, raw vegetables and sauce ingredients and started throwing things together. The sauce line was unclear so I used a little of everything and it turned out alright. Now knowing how the experience works I might be able to make a better dish next time, but as a first time solo experience it was a little unclear.

Usually have great food at chang’s but the last 4 visits to the one in Milwaukie has been so bad I just have to ask for my money back. The cooks are poorly trained. What has been happening is during cooking they constantly have to scrape the burnt food off the grill with a scraper and then finish it off by wiping it down with a cloth to remove the black charred scrapings from the grill surface. The problem is they are not doing a very good job, and those big chunks of black charred food end up in your plate. Not very appealing and quite disgusting to look at, and certainly would not want to eat it. This really too bad because this was my favorite place to eat before this started happening. I think fourth time is the charm and I won’t be back. Very sad as they have the best hot and sour soup in the city! I will upload some pics to show what was on my plate.

Simple food with many good vegetables, sliced meat and sauce choices. Not inexpensive, but a fair value. Interior and exterior are a bit rough. The staff are friendly and attentive.

We love changs. The only complaint I have is that I need to go there more hungry! The all you can eat is fabulous one plate can full you so be careful. Try the oyster sauce.

It’s hard to screw this kind of food up, and the cooks do all right. Nothing raw or overcooked, so they get a thumbs up. The soup, however, tastes as if it comes out of a can. Really? You can’t make egg flower soup taste good from scratch? Plus, the restaurant interior looks and smells about 30 years old. Not a very appetizing atmosphere. If you can put up with ugly décor and avoid the soup, the service is great!

It’s my favorite place for a few miles, though it still could improve alot. If you have issues with food allergies or germs or don’t like different foods touching, this is not the place for you. Everyone else: its amazing. I’d say the best part is they have lamb and spinach noodles. I don’t really know what to say but its a fun experience and good for at least one visit. Make that one your birthday because your meal will be free!

Friendly staff, lots of noodles, guys working too hard behind a too hot grill to get me my food. Fun to watch people suffer on my behalf. I’ll return.

Price is ok. But the food is horrible. I use to go the one in Albany all the time before it closed. Hubby and I tried this one off Mcloughlin blvd last night. The cooks just throw your food on grill and do to touch it till it comes off. None of the food on top gets grilled. It was very gross. We left and ended up at the McDonald’s drive thru trying to get that taste out of our mouth. The guy that brought our drinks was super nice.

One of my favorite restaurants to come to. This is all you can eat taken to a new level. You can pile as much chicken, beef, pork, and noodles onto a plate that you can and still come back for more. You get to watch them cook the meal that you’ve put together into two bowls right in front of you. You can specify it just how you like it with your choice of onions, peppers, carrots, etc. At the end you get to decide what kind of sauce you want to apply to spice it up or just add flavor. The prices are very reasonable considering you can go through the line as many times as you want and eat as much as you like. You also get a free meal on your birthday as long as you show id! I recommend this place with 5 stars across the board!

This place has went downhill big-time! My brother came to town for a visit and this was one of his favorite places to eat years ago, so we went. The place was filthy. Many bowls were not clean. One of the cooks look like he hated his job.(Don’t blame him) The meat and veggie bar was an absolute mess and the sauces had who knows what floating in them. Yuck! As we were sitting down we looked up had the vents and every single one of them was filthy and black and looked like they hadn’t been cleaned since the place originally opened. This place looks like an episode off of Restaurant Hell! For a brief moment I thought we were on candid camera or being pinked. We also witnessed a guy exiting the restaurant, going out in front of the window and puking in the flowerbeds. Wow! I will say our waiter was very nice and I felt extremely bad for him to be working in such an awful place. We left and went to Burgerville. Huge let down.

Think Panda Express but at twice the price and five times as dirty. Frozen shaved meats and seafood with veggies and such you put together and they cook it. Well, sort of «frozen». Ever notice all the oils and liquids you also add yourself just roll off the cooktop so the cooks have to add water to «steam cook» your creation. Terrible soup, Ice Cream and rice. Cute concept when it started. It was different and creative. And what’s up with those wraps they give you? Napkins would have as much flavor. Look, if you really are in the mood, at least the S.E. 122nd location is better kept and seems like the ingredients are stored colder. Where is the fun in NOT having leftovers to take home when having Asian Food? What, am I going to the opera, afterwards? Scary and dark parking lot in the back, too.

ALLPRAISEBETOTHEGUYWHOCAMEUPWITHTHISCONCEPTFOR A RESTAURANT! Seriously do your self a favor, come at lunch or dinner time. Lunch is cheaper. It has a few less options of food, usually slower, quieter area to eat. Actually I have never been to a changes location and not had it be amazing. I usually come out stuffed. But that’s ok cause the food coma it puts me in, is kinda nice. Staff is always friendly and on top of it! Love it!
