Castle Boardshop

Castle Boardshop is my new hero. After hitting multiple retailers in Portland in an attempt to replace my stolen snowboard gear, I was referred to Castle. It appeared that most outdoor retailers in Portland had sold out of all their boots and bindings for the season but I found just what I was looking for at Castle.
Castle has an excellent selection of quality gear and incredible staff. I had my pick of boots and bindings. Jordan is very knowledgable and was patient in explaining the pros/​cons of different setups. Once I had selected my gear, he even helped me set up my board. I got a great end of season discount and am loving my new boarding set up.

Castle Snowboards (an offshoot of the Mountain Shop) is located on Sandy and 37^th (not broadway). It’s in such a strange location I never would have gone in, except that I was looking for a particular pair of boots and when I called around they were the only place that had them. So I headed over on my lunch break today, only to find out that there had been a mistake and they didn’t have the exact ones I wanted (really similar though, totally understandable). Anyway, the guy felt super bad about it and offered me a discount on a more expensive pair by the same company with a similar fit. I tried them on and they felt good, so I went for it.
It looked like they do a lot of tuneups and stuff in addition to sales. It also looked like they might do rentals, but I could be completely making that up. There was a decent selection of boots and bindings, I didn’t notice that many boards, but I also wasn’t looking. They had a few package deals advertised, including adorable kid size ones, some clothes, socks, etc.
Since I was in there for something specific I didn’t really look around all that closely, but I really wanted to write this review just cuz the guy working was so nice and laidback. Between offering me a discount when there was a mistake, and overhearing him telling another customer that a kindof beatup board was still ok to ride, instead of pushing him into buying something new, I just felt good about shopping here.
