Busybee Cleaners

My Mom takes all her dry cleaning here and has for years. Low prices and a good dry cleaning makes Busy Bee a «No Brain-​er». The funny part is how often my Mom will loose her dry cleaning ticket or just forget to pick up her items. They never hassle her (any more. After all these years, I guess they got used to her needs. lol.) or charge her any penalties. Just a small neighborhood business that knows how to take care of their customers.

Best rates I’ve found in SE Portland and flawless cleaning on the jackets, shirts and sweaters I brought in. They even managed to find a match for a missing Pendleton button on one of my coats and sewed it on for free! I was dreading having to go looking for it, but was blown away to have the problem taken care of without my asking for it. Will definitely be returning

I’ve been going to Busybee for a few years now and have always felt the staff to be pleasant enough and they’ve always done a great job with my clothes. No complaints!

I decided to give Busybee a try in spite of the negative reviews. The place has a strong smell of urine, and the person who I spoke to was unfriendly and seemed annoyed that I had come in to his business. The turnaround time to clean a simple shirt and pants is three days. It is unfortunate because it is the only dry cleaner within a ten minute drive of my house, but I could not bring myself to leave my clothes there.

This place has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I was actually hung up on when I was calling to inquire about the completion of my order. The guy on the other end of the line wouldn’t even let me finish talking before abruptly calling an end to our conversation.

Even though BusyBee is WAY closer to me, I used to take my suits to a cleaners in NE… partly because my tailor recommended them and partly because of the bad reviews BB was getting. A couple of weeks ago, I decided to give BusyBee a try. I figured they must be doing SOMETHING right if they’re still in business, and like I said… they’re much more conveniently located for me.
The middle aged guy who took my clothes wasn’t particularly chatty, but polite. Pretty straightforward. My wife went in the next day and dropped off a few of her things as well. When I went back a couple of days later to pick up my suits, a younger guy was at the counter. He wasn’t exactly unfriendly, but the transaction was strictly business. That’s okay… it’s a dry cleaners, not a brewpub. :-)
As I was getting my wallet out to pay, the middle aged guy I dealt with before piped up from the back and asked if I wanted to pick up my wife’s clothes while I was there. I was kind of impressed that he put that together after only meeting me (and my wife) one time.
My suits and my wife’s clothes all looked fine. No damage, and they’re clean. That’s about all I need from a dry cleaners! I’ll be back.

Quick turn around and great cleaning, prices aren’t the cheapest but I always get good service. From time to time they break a button on my shirts but they offer button replacement for free. I have been coming here for 7 years so I guess that says enough.

Just another person confirming that this place is absolutely the worst dry cleaner in the area.
I went here because it was the closest dry cleaner to my house. I brought in one two-​piece suit and a blazer. I pointed out a couple stains I needed removed. The man, not pleasant in the least, took my clothing and printed me a receipt… $ 21. A bit steep for place that does their cleaning on-​site.
Get the articles back 4 days later and take them home without first checking them. My mistake. Not only did they not remove any of the stains– THEY MADE THEM WORSE. Stains that were only slightly visible were now glaringly obvious. On top of this, they couldn’t even iron my pants evenly.
This place is to be avoided at all costs. I should have known to stay away the second I walked in and saw a middle-​aged WHITE guy behind the counter.

I went to get 3 pair of pants hemmed, and was sent home to pin them myself. A week later, I go with my pants pinned and they try to charge me close to $ 15 to hem them. I say «seriously?» to the cashier, «I did most of the work.» I didn’t even raise my voice, I was laughing and bewildered they would charge me that much! The rude guy behind the counter actually asked me, «So, are you leaving now?» and then proceeded to attempt to physically remove me out of the store by the arm! I went home to call the store and asked to speak with the manager and was told by the same guy at the store that he was the manager as well as owner and that I should get a life. This by the way, all because I merely questioned the price. I was verbally and physically assaulted by this man for no reason. This is not what I expected after working hard all day!

The prices here don’t phase me too much — they don’t trash your clothes like some less expensive places I’ve used in the area. It’s a cleaners — you drop off your clothes, they clean them really well, and you pick them up a few days early. It’s a simple process, but amazingly there are plenty of ways for a cleaner to screw it up, and so far these guys have not, so I’m happy with their service.

This place sucks!
They used way to high heat on my wool slacks. The creases were messy. So far I’ve found that one of my pairs of pants had most of the cuff hems ripped out. My white shirt had two burn marks on the sleeve and one of the cuff buttons was almost ripped out of the shirt (as in there’s now a tear in the cloth). I recently moved to the SE part of town and they were the closest to me. I will not go back.

I heart Busy Bee.
It’s everything you could possibly want in a dry cleaner. The building itself is bright yellow (one of my favorite colors) and pretty conveniently located, at least for me, at 51^st & Foster. Its fairly priced, efficient, & the staff is actually cool. For some reason they always seem to be young, friendly, & helpful. They’ve come to my rescue & saved many an irreplaceable garment from a fate at the bins. They even managed to get bright fuchsia color bleed (from an unfortunate washing mishap) out of white pinstriped pants & unidentified purple berry stains (fun night) out of a textured coat, that never could have been replaced, from Sweden.
I’ve been going here since I moved to Portland 5 years ago. I’ve only strayed once and that was a mistake… lesson learned. Thanks for taking me back Busy, see you soon.

Portland is not well know for the price or availability of it’s services. Having lived in Santa Monica (on of the most expensive cities in the US), I had hoped SE Portland might have some price advantages.
Busy Bee proved me wrong: Wash and Press a shirt was $ 1.85, Dry cleaning was over $ 4.00 per article. Their one partially redeeming quality was that their laundry (fluff and fold) was ‘only’ $ 1.25/lb — too bad they don’t offer 24 turn around service, even though they do the laundry on site.
I have since found another dry cleaner and laundry service
last gripe: 6AM to 6PM are great hours if you get up early. What they need is one or 2 late nights during the week for us folks who want to pick up our laundry on the way home from work.
