Bridge City Family Medical Clinic

Dr Hicks and staff are amazing! She has helped my with various ailments with a minimum of medication, which I try to avoid. Never been healthier, all due to the care and knowledge of Dr. Hicks!
Front office is welcoming and calming and the staff are really sweet and attentive.

I have been with Terri since 2004. She was the first nurse practitioner I had chosen independent of my family or university doctor.
Since the practice has gotten bigger it’s been nearly impossible to schedule appointments in a timely manner. When I’m scheduling my annual it’s not a big deal, but there have been times where I had a UTI or (last winter) when I had shingles in my ear that time was a big concern. Last December I had singles in my ear and was misdiagnosed 2 separate times. By the third appointment I had nerve damage in my ear which resulted in bells palsy. Scheduling has been such a big deal that I have gone to Zoomcare twice in the last two years for immediate issues, which is not paid for by my insurance.
I recently had a UTI, couldn’t get an appointment until the next week. By this time, even Terri seemed worried that I might have a kidney infection. I was supposed to get 10 days worth of antibiotics, but there was some sort of mix up and only got 7 days. A week later, I was having lingering issues and had left multiple messages on the general mail box. Days later, when I finally reached Terri’s assistant she insisted that I come in for another check up before they would prescribe more medication. It feels as though this is some kind of scam to bill my insurance.
This has been going on for years like this. Misdiagnosis, multiple appointments over the same issue, miscommunication between nurses and staff and rarely do I see the same nurse practitioner twice (these two examples are an exception to the rule). The list goes on.
I have been reluctant to switch nurse practitioners because there is a convenience with having your records in the same place, or so I thought. In my last conversation with a staffer I had to convince her that I was in 3 time in December because she swore I hadn’t been in two years.
I don’t know, but this seems so wrong to me.

I couldn’t disagree more, with most of the reviews on here. EVERYONE I’ve dealt with at this clinic has been amazing! The front office staff makes you feel warm and welcome from the moment you first enter the building. Dr. Hicks, my doctor, is friendly, knowledgeable, and invested in her patients. Even the phlebotomist did an excellent job! Unfortunately, I didn’t catch his name, but he is very good at what he does.

Just so folks know, your voice can be heard if you had a negative experience at her clinic. Here is the link where you could make a complaint to the boards. In Teri’s words I’m just a «crazy» person «bullying» her on Unilocal.Still traumatized and sad about this whole experience but very grateful for the queer community for stepping up and banning her from a specific group.

Teri Bunker actually commented my post on facebook and really tried to silence me. She tries to use her power, and abuses it instead. I was told I was «crazy» due to my reaction of my experience with her and she also commented that people were «bullying» her. Either way her comments on facebook were unprofessional and probably violates HIPPA. I do not trust her with my private information.
I deleted my original thread about Dr. Teri Bunker (Bridge City Medical Clinic) due to fear about my personal information getting out there. But, alas I’m announcing this one last time to get my voice heard in the community.
I went in for a pap with Dr. Teri Bunker and had some symptoms and concerns. I mentioned it to her and she stated «Well, we don’t have time for your concerns you will have to make another appointment». I blinked twice and said «well its about my reproductive organs, isn’t that relevant to the pap» she said «oh yea, okay». This is something really serious, and something you can visually see to the naked eye. When she did the «exam» on me she said she didn’t see anything but she had the nerve to laugh and diagnose me with something really serious without even testing me for it nor having evidence. I said «well I would be more at ease if you tested me for it» she just shook her head and said everyone has it. When she checked my ovaries and she inserted her fingers inside me she said «wow, you have tight kegel muscles you got there!». She told me I didn’t need a breast exam because I’m 28. And most of all, when I eventually begged for my results two weeks later, she overlooked a serious finding in my results. If I didn’t actually message her personally, she wouldn’t have given me my results nor realized I had something concerning come up.
I feel like preventative care is serious when it comes to patients, I honestly feel if she actually heard me, and took me seriously instead of ignoring my requests I feel like this could have been seen sooner.
Alas I like to thank a doctor on here who reached out to me, you know who you are. For everyone in the medical field, feel free to spread this information anonymously. Too bad she actually owns the clinic and my voice will not be heard if I reported her.
As for the staff there: The receptionists are inappropriate with their commentary towards me, they always seem to be telling me how cute I am and calling me «dear» and saying things like «I’m happy now that you’re here ;)» They really aren’t a useful resource for any concerns that you need to address with your doctor. The medical assistants do not really do their job, even if you call them about a symptom or re-​occuring problem (that you already went to see the doctor for) they sort of shrug it off. I did not feel cared for with this clinic.
I heard several other people within the community having horrid stories about Teri Bunker but unfortunately she is the owner of the clinic, so reporting her won’t do much.

My kids, husband and I have been patients of Teri’s since she was down off Sandy (2004-​ish). She is helpful, caring, and committed to keeping us healthy. I’ve never been anything but happy with her care of us, but tonight really took the cake.
I’ve been fighting off a UTI for the last few days, and losing. She totally took care of me! I’ve now got the necessary antibiotics and should be out of pain soon. Thanks for going above and beyond!

came here. They Have (Or had) A Computer System They made patients use and charged patients in order to view their medical records. The company charged me $ 50 a year later. Bridge city didn’t refund nor was helpful. They also never called me back regarding my results.

Been here with my 3 kids for a few years… it’s hard to even get in for appts. They also do not let you know if your child is due for vaccines or a well child check. As I work in the medical industry I feel that should be a standard for care. Lucky for us we will now be going else where

We’ve been coming to Bridge City for our two kids since 2011. The staff is one of a kind; polite and caring, and very knowledgeable. Dr. Anotta is our PCP and does a stellar job dealing with the kids. The center focuses on a very wide array of specialties, but makes it a point to give each and every person the time and attention they need
The building is always very well kept, inside and out. My only gripe with the center is the parking lot. It is very small and not very easy to park in when other vehicles are present. Thankfully there is ample street side parking right out front. The atmosphere in the waiting room is very low key and calming. Their fish tank is beautiful and a great distraction for any wait time you may have, if any. There is a small section set aside for the younger kids to play patiently. Carrying from the waiting area into the private rooms, you keep that calming feeling from start to finish.
All-​in-​all I can confidently recommend this medical center to anyone looking for an alternative to the traditional hospital feel. Make sure to call ahead and see if your medical coverage is accepted here.

I truly like this place. I’ve seen two of their ND’s and both are very kind and patient. I love the fact they want to keep you healthy and prevent things from occurring instead of just medicating and sending you on your way. I’m lucky cause I am healthy but it is good to know they are there to help with my medical needs!

I hope my original review still shows I’m still figuring this « Unilocal» thing out I saw Dr. Kolluru at Bridge City today she was great! She really listened poor thing lol (I threw a lot at her) I feel for the first time in longer than I can remember she really wants to get to the root of it instead of throwing a drug at «it» to mask. My son and I have been so sick for several years no joke. Looking forward to getting well!!! Thanks Bridge City!

Perhaps things have changed with the new year. I’m new to town and was referred to Bridge City Medical in November 2012. I’m very picky about where I receive healthcare. First and foremost the office must be clean and this office is immaculate and HUGE. The staff should be engaging and attentive — that they are. I was in just last week and there were 2 – 3 receptionists taking phone calls and making sure I was comfortable and seen as soon as possible. Within 3 minutes I was called back for a blood draw. That’s right, they do all that fun stuff on-​site. No need to take more time off work to go to a third-​party phlebotomy clinic.
I see Teri Bunker and couldn’t be happier with how knowledgeable and caring she is. She actually ‘listened’ to my story. She listened to why I was there, provided feedback and suggestions, and curated a personalized healthcare plan. Finally, I don’t have to wait for a phone call from Teri about a prescription or if I’m having some sort of medical dilemma that I’d like to discuss — I can simply email her directly through the online patient portal. And you won’t believe it… I get a very quick response. In fact, it’s pretty late at night and I received a response from a question I sent just a little while ago. Whoa, convenient. I can keep track of my healthcare records, check my labs, email my provider — heck I can email anyone at the office if I want.
All around excellent experience. I would recommend to anyone from all walks of life. Everyone is welcome. Even if you’re lacking health insurance or lacking quality health insurance, Bridge City Medical has a nifty program to help out. I encourage you or anyone looking for a new medical provider office to visit Bridge City Medical. You’ll be impressed. I was. Good luck and best wishes for a healthy life!

I had been going here for about two years now. Last night I was in a lot if pain and had called the on call advice line. The First Lady that answered was rude, she finally transferred me to the person on call. Now this lady after telling her what was wrong, was also rude. She preceded to tell me that there is nothing she can do at 1030 at night. I was in tears due to the pain, it was clear I need help. I have never in countered so much disrespect and rudeness for an advice nurse in my life. I will never recommend this office to anyone! I will also never return myself!!!

They are nice enough, but the whole office is totally disorganized and the communication there is terrible. I found out from someone else that Dr. Millius left the clinic and I feel like that is something they should inform their patients about at a minimum.
The care was only meh at best anyway. Communication is critical and I just left like there wasn’t any. I now have a better Dr. who listens and communicates. I know people with low incomes/​medicare have limited options, but this is not a good one. I would say look elsewhere.

This clinic has gone on way too long with very poor service. Run the other way when looking for medical providers. There is a high turnover of doctors and FNP’s. The administrative competence is non-​existent. It is impossible to get any sort of communication in a timely manner, let alone correctly.
I finally am leaving after three years of poor service. I only stayed because I liked Dr. Rebecca Millius, but she has left this clinic.
Still waiting after three days for a simple medical records request by flash drive. Enough is enough.

I had a great initial visit with Dr. Millius. She spent a good amount of time with me earlier this year and was fairly personable. Every dealing with this clinic since has been an extreme frustration. I had some labs drawn at the clinic sometime around August and was called about a week later by the clinic to tell me they had forgotten to draw some of the labs the doctor had ordered and I needed to come back. I decided that I was too annoyed and asked them to send me the lab order slip so I could go directly to a walk-​in lab. They mailed the order to me and I didn’t follow through for a few months (my own fault), so I finally called back and scheduled myself to go to the office for a lab draw. While I was there, I inquired about my labs from several months prior but they have vanished into thin air and nobody seems to understand what I am asking for. The office staff was unable to locate my labs from the earlier visit and kept trying to offer me my old records which I had brought myself at my initial visit. In addition, the medical assistant was extremely rude, speaking about me in third person to the check-​in person up front even though I was standing right there. I just walked out because I was so irritated.
Never heard anything about the labs drawn in November. Dr. Millius called me herself about a month later to tell me the labs had been sitting for a month in someone’s electronic inbox and suddenly «found». In all fairness, she did spend a good amount of time on the phone with me going over my labs. However, I explained about the earlier labs and she said she would try to track them down but I never heard anything. She also told me that my upcoming appointment was during her scheduled vacation and that the staff had known she’d be off for a long time. I said fine and I didn’t want to reschedule, but I still got a call a couple days before the appointment telling me they needed to reschedule! I asked again about the old labs to the scheduler who had the medical assistant call me back. I went over the sequence of events AT LENGTH. The medical assistant seemed to understand what I was asking for… and then mailed me old labs FROM 2010! Ugh. I completely give up. This is the most disorganized office with poor communication between everyone.
I like Dr. Millius, but I will be looking for a new PCP because I just can’t deal with the office communication and disorganization problems. Also, it is difficult to get an appointment when one is sick (I was scheduled 2 weeks out to discuss an important concern) and each time I’ve been in the office, I’ve had to wait 20 – 30 minutes past my appointment time. I recommend looking elsewhere for a PCP!
