You are going to wait for over half an hour you are going to wait for over half an hour or at best mediocre food

I read the previous reviews, but they must be old. Went in today to Brekken’s, had the most welcoming, helpful and efficient server named Cecilia. And the Brekken’s burger is awesome.

This restaurant facilitated the worst dining experiences I have ever had. They were incredibly understaffed(one line cook and one server) on a Friday night. Server was incredibly inexperienced and had little knowledge of the menu. Line cook was loud and running around. Nachos came out with way too much sour cream(ew), poor tasting chips, and they were not layered at all. Pork chops came out pink in the middle so we hardly ate any out of fear of getting sick. What looked to be the owner was there and she was completely oblivious of how much of a train wreck her restaurant is. She also seems to have posted a lot of pictures on this restaurants Unilocal.I am skeptical as to whether or not she has paid for some of the reviews as well. I am a restaurant server myself so I know where restaurants standards should be. At the end of the day steer clear and eat somewhere else.

I came in and the waitress instantly looked at me like I was inconveniencing her. Took a while for her to get off her phone to take our order. Turns out she is the cook too! Luckily it was slow or else it would have taken even longer to get our food. The waitress/cook had her friend in the kitchen with her the whole time. The steak was overcooked to the point that I couldn’t eat it. Our friend joined us and ordered food and for some reason the waitress/cook left the restaurant for a bit. Came back, walked into the kitchen and went right back to cooking without washing her hands. I won’t be coming back. Ever.

Grotty décor. Food was not dangerous but not good. A tad slow to deliver the food, waiter was friendly and attentive.

Came. Sat down. Place was totally empty on a Monday night. Waited for about 15 minutes. Someone was in the kitchen and could see me, I don’t know what they were doing. Was never served. Left.

We were never acknowledged by the help. The band was fun, not too loud so we enjoyed that while waiting. We grabbed our own menus. Decided on milkshakes, but nobody noticed. We eventually left.

I’m done giving this place chances… Service was awful. Waitress was either talking to her friend at the bar or on her phone. The food was just not up to par and it was so cold, both the food and the restaurant that I didn’t even finish my meal. I used to love going there but the last three times I just left very dissatisfied… Sorry

just ask for the brekken burger, you’ll need 3 beers to wash it down and still end up with leftovers.

Food was alright. Service was okay at first when the man was helping us and taking our order. He must have gone off shift and left us with a gal who pretty much acted as though we were not there. She spent the entire time at the counter on her phone playing videos or something very loud. Never filled our waters or asked if we needed anything or even spoke to us. Dropped the check on our table like 5 minutes into the meal without a word which was my first clue we were not exactly welcome. I’m not sure why, considering we were literally the ONLY customers in the place the entire time we were there. I had heard good things about this place and was excited to try it. The food was okay, but just we felt so very unwelcome as customers. Maybe because I’m not a current local, but I was raised in NoPo and made the trip over the bridge just for this place. Sad face we were treated so poorly.

The Philly cheesesteak sandwich was delicious and my son had mac & cheese with hamburger and said that was super yummy too. Very affordable and mostly good for kids(I didn’t like the TV). We will definitely come back.

I went to Brekken’s for the first time last night. We all had the tacos which were amazing! I had a lovely vodka cranberry with my tacos, while the other members of my group enjoyed the $ 2 Tecates. The service was great, as our server made the rounds at our table what seemed like every 10 – 15 minutes. I can’t wait to go back and try some of the other menu offerings.

Great little café/coffee shop. Good food and friendly service. They have a little area in the back with toys and video games to keep the kids entertained. They were very accommodating of our very large group of people for breakfast.

What to say about this place. I feel it’s very rustic and has a history. It’s not a fancy new kind of bar. It’s definitely one of those neighborhood establishments. I had the Brekken burger. Or should I say Brekken Monster this is the monster of all burgers. I definitely recommend this place over a place like Darcy’s. The burgers are good. The server is funny. And I like the feel of the place. The only reason I give this a 3 star rating is due to the fact it’s like most bars. There’s food a bar and alcohol. It really doesn’t catch my eye. I kinda lost it in the middle of searching Lost access to the other account so just re telling.

Diner quality food, but reasonably priced, clean, and friendly service. Plus there was live music. This is a good alternative to McMenamins. I tried the New Mexico Burger with tater tots($ 10) and it was pretty good in size and taste. They also had a small but reasonable micro brew selection.

This is a great addition to the neighborhood. I crave a good diner breakfast sometimes and Brekkens hit the spot. Wait staff was friendly, food was good, even did a substitution for me –gladly! I’d definitely come back.

I have to say this is the first time we ordered food to go from Brekkens. The hamburgers were ok but the Your Inn tavern still wins. The fries were terrible. They were way over cooked, not even close to golden brown. I give 1 star for a wonderful waitress.

Such a great find on our trip to St. John’s. The staff was friendly, the milkshakes were absolutely delicious(it’s so rare to find places that make them the old-fashioned way), and the food came quickly. They let us order some items that weren’t on the menu, including the most incredible grilled cheese, as well as a gluten-free modification to my hamburger. Good food, quiet and friendly atmosphere and very, very, very fantastic hand-cut fries. A few of the bar stools were a bit too wobbly to sit on, but I’m sure that’s something a few well-placed bolts can fix :)

Upping to five stars today. Ron and I were greeted immediately and really enjoyed our interaction with our most excellent waitress.

New Year’s Day, we decided to try Brekken’s for brunch. We walked in, grabbed a booth, and started looking over the menu. After about 10 minutes the waitress comes over and takes our drink order. She comes back after another 5 minutes without our drinks and takes our food order. Their menu clearly states«If you don’t see what you’d like on the menu, ask! We’ll make it for you if we can.» Because my husband did not see his favorite, chicken fried steak on the menu, he asked if that was possible. The waitress says«uh– NO. Do you usually go to restaurants and ask for things that aren’t on the menu?» okay… so, no chicken fried steak. She leaves to the bar and as she’s punching our order in(still no drinks!) a gentleman comes up and grabs the coffee pot to pour his wife some coffee. The waitress yells — no — SCREAMS at him for taking«HERCOFFEEPOOOOOT!!!» and he calmly tells her that his wife had been waiting for 15 minutes for her coffee to be refilled. I became so uncomfortable, was dying of thirst, and wasn’t excited about my meal anyway, that we decided to leave. My husband went up to tell her that we’d like to cancel our order, and that we’d pay for whatever the cook had started. He was met with MORE attitude from this waitress. I don’t know if this girl was hungover, new, overwhelmed(although I think me, my husband, and our friend made about 12 patrons), or just a brat, but I will not take my chances at this restaurant again. I’ve had bad days at work. I’ve had AWFUL days while working food service, but I have never, ever, ever yelled at a customer. Sorry Brekkens, wanted to like you!
