Relaxed little bar with Indoor and outdoor seating in the Mercado, a collection of Latin American shops and Foodcarts. The owners are usually behind the bar, and keep the atmosphere casual and welcoming. A real gem in the SE.

Let’s start off by saying I’m from Texas and the minute I stepped into this place I felt like I was on vacation the welcoming from the owner to the music playing… the drinks where amazing to the Tepache to the most amazing red wine I’ve ever had. You can’t find customer service anymore like you do here! Me being from out of state I was impressed by the way I was treated like a local! I will be back here and I encourage you to stop by and embrace the local wine and food!

Another reviewer called the Barrio«classy and sweet». That about sums it up. It also describes the owner, Chris, whose warmth toward his customers is unparalleled in my experience. He has made the place a gathering spot where one is made comfortable and welcome. His sangria(red and white!) is delicious, the beer concoctions are a revelation, and he always has good IPA on tap. For the season, he has rolled out a soul-warming mulled wine with cinnamon«straw». He welcomes customers bringing in the treats from the food carts just outside and pairing the food with his wines and beers. The glass garage-door wall makes it easy to enjoy viewing the rainy nights outside and in summer it is rolled up out of the way, expanding the space to the happy changing scenes at the picknick tables outside. What a great development for the neighborhood: a meeting place for people of good will.

We had a lovely time at Barrio! It has a great atmosphere and design. The owner Chris is very welcoming and friendly and the drinks were perfect. My Mexican husband was thrilled with his Tepache beer and I loved my yummy mulled wine. The Barrio is part of El Mercado which also has a great vibe with an authentic candy shop, cute café, stores with Latin American wares and a butcher shop. My husband felt instantly at home. Although we don’t live very close we most certainly will be back!

Don’t let the weather dissuade you! The food-trucks outside are still churning out deliciousness that you can bring inside to the warmth and comfort of this cantina. Plus, the Mercado allows drinks inside too, so top off your beer, wine, or michelada(which is delicious, by the way), and grab a table to watch a Timbers or Blazers game. Sports not your thing? No problem. The bar itself is still TV-free, and Chris and Tim are two of the nicest guys you’ll meet. Great service, amazing happy hour deals, delicious food outside; what more do you want?! Skip the dive, up your game, and get to the Barrio!

Really nice owner. Good selection of beer and wine. Growlers for both. Nice indoor and outdoor seating. Food carts right here if you are hungry.

Konichiwa! The owner is a super cool Japanese guy! Mom, my sister and I met for lunch at the Portland Mercado. Barrio is part of the center. And it’s a quaint place to eat and drink and share a good time with friends and family. I loved the sweet wines! I had a taste, mom had the glass. We loved this place! The owner recommended the oaxacan Tamale, it was amazingly delicious.

We go here often and I am finally writing a review. The place is just fantastic. It has great ambiance and the owners are nice and very dog friendly. It is one of those rare places where you can have your dog inside if you wish. Just go and enjoy the Mercado with a cleansing ale or a nice glass of wine. You will not be disappointed.

Love the Barrio at Portland Mercado! A very inviting place to get a beer or Sangria to go with all the excellent food offerings of the vendors!

Awesome service and lovely atmosphere. A cute little bar at the Portland Mercado. Great spot for afternoon drinks. Try a raw coconut with horchata rum as your drink of choice. Air conditioning, intimate setting, great natural light, big windows, and fun music.

I love coming here. They have rotating taps of the best local beers as well as wine, fantastic sangrias – the traditional type and a white Sangria – and other drinks. Great location, very airy with terrific Latin music. Located at Portland Mercado, there are food carts and other stores. I highly recommend this place.

I liked this little bar a lot actually. The owner was nice and friendly, he even came to check on us outside once. I like the selection to, very interesting range of beer, wine, and ciders. Also they were not wildly overpriced which is a nice change. I also liked the aesthetics of the place, it was clean and inviting.

What a find! Bring your food from the Mercado in and ask for a recommendation on the type of beer or wine to pair it with. Chris, the owner, makes great recommendations and knows the food and vendors personally. It’s not your average beer and wine establishment to accompany food cart food. Lots of quality and choices. Also, enjoy Barrio without the food vendor fare as well. A quality selection of beer and wine that stands on its own. Chris went out of his way to tell us about the fantastic offerings from the food carts. He knows the owners personally. So for a unique culinary experience not often had at food carts, go into Barrio and pick a beer or wine to start and ask Chris what food cart option goes well with it. You will not be disappointed. A great find for the neighborhood. Bravo!

It’s a wine/beer bar located within the Mercado food carts! The owner is AWESOME! They create their own wines/beers to match the flavors of the food carts! *Pick up something(Mexican food ranging from($ 3.00-$ 15.00 dollars) to eat from one of the many food trucks and then head to the, Barrio to compliment your food with an amazing adult beverage(21+)! It has seating inside the bar and a patio with picnic tables outside. On sunny days it all opens with garage doors to have a perfect flow from inside to out! *wines & beers range from $ 5 – 10 bucks and if doubt the owner/bartender will help you out!

What’s Spanish for«if I could rearrange the alphabet, I’d put U and I together»? Barrio is the latest and greatest(srsly, GREATEST) of the Portland Mercado community. It is a gross understatement to call this super cozy little wine bar a welcome addition to the neighborhood. There’s nothing else like it in the area. It’s classy and sweet and just exactly what I’ve dreamed would bless my ZIP code one of these days. They specialize in wine, and they make efforts to complement the Latin treats and eats offered throughout the Mercado. Case in point: they’ll always have a sangria and a michelada, but they also have a house red blend, and cater to oenophiles in a way that’s both educational and accessible. Chris, the owner I met, is down to earth, enthusiastic, and incredibly welcoming. According to trusted sources, their spicy nuts are compelling to the point of addiction. Go ahead and bring your cart foods in, and feel free to walk around inside the building with your glasses of goodness. They’d prefer you don’t, though, walk around the neighborhood, with goblets of that good wine. Laws and all. Google Translate tells me the«U and I» thing gets lost in translation, but en vino verdad: Barrio means neighborhood, and I’m muy entusiasmado that it’s part of mine.
