Terrible service, left everything versus standing in long line with only two cashiers

Parking was super easy, of course this was on a weekday. The book I was in search of was on back order. Customer service was there to help and offer the«nook» option. For those that like to read on their tablet, this options is great! Price is about 1⁄3 off retail paperbook and obviously no shipping is needed. I ended up ordering book and having it shipped to my home for $ 3.99. I also was pleased with the coffee shop there too and lunch options were fair as well.

I researched some series I wanted to purchase for my child and headed to Barnes and Noble on my lunch break. Being rushed for time, I scanned the shelves, but found the placement in the children’s area to be confusing. I asked a sales associate for help, but she seemed like she wanted to strangle me. She was so visibly annoyed that I had asked for help, I felt like a scolded child. I realize working retail sucks fo sho, but c’mon and take a midol already!

While other Barnes and Nobles were built as Barnes and Nobles, this one was a conversion. It used to be the best Borders in the metro area, located at one of the more interesting shopping areas in the metro area — Bridgeport Village. When it was a Border’s, something about its atmosphere felt great. I can’t describe it. Barnes and Noble interiors tend to be more formal and staid. Still, I had a feeling that, when Borders ceased to exist, Barnes and Noble would pick up this store. They did a nice job with it. The books and the booksellers are much like at any Barnes and Noble. However, here, the café’ feels a little constrained and is right inside one set of entry doors. When it’s cold outside, and if seated too close up front, you can feel it. Also, with Bridgeport Village being so popular, and with eateries in the center that have valet parking and reserved spots for it, parking is a little more challenging. However, the combination of B&N and Bridgeport Village is a good one, if you like the newer parts of SW Portland.

Sitting in the B&N right now. nice music playing, lots of natural light, super customer friendly(Heather in Café is exceptional). I also, life another reviewer was sorry to lose Borders, but glad that B&N took over the location and hope they can keep it viable. I love walking over here and looking at books and magazines with a beverage. I encourage all to share the pleasant experience.

I really loved Borders and was very sad to see it go, but I am glad this spot didn’t turn into another high priced fashion retailer, like much of the shops surrounding it. There are some improvements that came with the change from Borders to Barnes & Noble, like more places to sit while perusing books, a pretty nice café, and great resources for those people that read on e-readers…

Both times I’ve been here, I’ve only gone under the pretense of saving a total of 30 minutes by not driving all the way to my beloved Powell’s in Portland. Unfortunately, each of my visits to this Barnes and Noble ended with me being told they were sold out of the books I needed, and to order online. If I wanted to order online, I would order at Amazon, not Barnes and Noble. Moral of the story, I should drive to Powells.

I really miss book stores, when border when under I was crashed. Now we have a real book store again. One you enter you noise is filled with the smell of good old paper books. The store is two stories with a large section of everything. If they don’t have it they will order it. The search system isn’t great but there is always an egger employee to help you find something. They also carry the eBooks if that your thing but if you like real books, this is your place.

So excited there’s a Barnes closer to my home. It’s much nicer than the old Washington square location. Nice large children’s section. Will be hanging out here more in the future. Big area in by the entrance where you can play with the Nook. Not quite the iPad but not bad for the price.
