Stopped by here while waiting to be seated at Pok Pok lol. Ordered the Chef’s sampler of a dozen oysters which is basically two of each of their special oysters. Service was quick and food came quickly as well. The oysters were smaller than I hoped for, but they were definitely fresh and pretty delicious. I hear there’s a happy hour for the oysters so I honestly recommend to go there during that time!

We’ve been making a big mistake walking by this place for years. Everything we had, including our drinks, was excellent. Oysters, poke, And my favorite, delicious seafood Dan dan noodles. Good service too.

My experience here was simple the best. This was actually my favorite place to go in Portland, surprisingly. Everything was just perfect. The vibe, the environment, our bartender, food, and drinks. I can’t find anything to complain about. First of all, my gf and I came right when they opened on Sat. Coincidence, it was happy hour from 4 – 6. Happy Happy! We started off with a dozen oysters, 2 oyster shooters, squid salad and some drinks. Bartender was kind enough to offer us, some bread as well. I got the bartender special which was a pink margarita. Not gonna lie, that was super bomb. My gf got a glass of sangria. When our oysters came, it came out with these 2 bottles of their own sauce. One was a jalapeño tasting one and the other was a vinaigrette. Both were excellent. Absolutely loved it, so we ordered another dozen. We also go a crab meat hand roll which was like a spring roll with some thing vermicelli and topped off with crab meat. It was actually really good. Everything here was just excellent. We got more drinks, and one of this drink my gf stated that it was too sweet, the bartender ended up just taking off our bill. Sincerely nothing bad to say. Cheers!

Oysters: YUSS. And their tuna poke is delicious, too. A smoky version with achiote and avocado. Very unctuous and sexy. I sat inside at the bar, but the outdoor tables were packed too. Not at all cheap, but not crazy. But their cocktail program is on point, too. They made a killer Negroni with typical ingredients, and also one with aquavit, which is tastier than I ever expected. It’s in that crazy stretch of Division, and for some reason your phone will get zero signal here. Just ask for the wi-fi password.

I’d never had oysters before coming here, so I started out slowly, yet eagerly. I honestly don’t remember which oysters my boyfriend and I ended up ordering, but I do remember that we went with two of our friends, beers and shots were ordered(in a classy manner, not in a party manner, seeing that this is a classy joint), I very much enjoyed my first oyster experience, and I was also mesmerized by the adorable naval décor. Last, this place is on SE Division Street, which is a convenient location because there’s usually side-street parking, and it’s within walking distance of other restaurants and bars.

Actually 2 ½. Curiously unsatisfying dinner. Started great and went slowly downhill from there. Dozen oysters. Delicious and briny with fine mignonette. Anything but a bargain at $ 32 a dozen. Followed by crab hand roll. First bite a spectacular explosion of crab goodness. Subsequent bites reveal precious little crab after that first bite. Next, Tuna Poke. A modest amount of tuna smothered in a lava flow of achiote and cream sauce. Just seemed weird. Flavors hid the tuna taste. What’s the point? Next, 3 – 4 modest pieces of albacore buried under a enormous pile of wasabi-sauce dressed greens. Wow, not in a good way. And last, as an uni lover, I figured on trying the uni mac. Again, something of a mess. Dulled the flavor of the uni and just didn’t hit the mark for my taste buds. Really looked forward the meal, but seriously letdown. Good service. $ 98 before tip for 2. I can take in a lot of quality sushi for that price, without dealing with the fillers that seem to mask and bury every seafood subtlety at B&T. Again, very disappointed with the heavy touch on subtle seafood.

Loved the quality and selection of oysters. The Uni mac didn’t disappoint either!

Assigning stars to this is sort of tricky, because the food we got here was actually pretty good — the problem is that we ordered the Omakase, which wound up being a giant disappointment. Typically Omakase(chef’s choice) is when you just pay a pre-set amount and the chef is able to highlight his/her creativity along with what’s fresh, and usually a thing or two not on the menu. Instead, we simply received a scattered mixture of things that were on the menu, with no rhyme or reason, added value, or really anything at all to justify its existence as a menu option. Round 1 came with oysters — half shell, grilled, and oyster shooters. Totally tasty, we were on board with it and ready for what came next. Round 2 had three things that were _all_on the happy hour menu — two salads and a crab roll. In our final accounting, this meant that we were in fact paying full price for things that other people who didn’t get omakase… ‘chef’s choice’ in this case meant ‘getting upcharged for something the chef couldn’t be bothered with.‘ After a pretty lengthy wait, round three came with a fried fish sandwich and noodles. Both were fine, but it became pretty clear that there wasn’t really any actual effort being placed into this — who the hell has a sandwich with noodles? How is a fried fish sandwich and a plate of noodles with almost zero fish in it highlighting the quality of a place’s seafood? A quick check of the prices on the menu showed that they just assembled things worth exactly the $ 45 /person(not counting the happy hour discount on three of the items). I think they really need to either remove the Omakase option entirely, or not just quarter-ass it. As it was, we walked away less than satisfied and felt a bit like we’d been taken for a ride.

I will start by saying that the only reason I am giving a 3 star rating is due to the kindness of the management. They paid for our oysters and drinks after the horrible treatment by one of their employees. We were treated so poorly by the bartender last night that I truly hope he is relieved of his duty. His arrogance and unfriendly behavior is a definite downside to this restaurant. The oysters were yummy, but I suggest you enjoy them at a table and not at the bar top.

Missed the regular happy hour and remained patient for the late happy hour. Freakin’ worth it! The cocktails were tits! And although we were the only people in there we weren’t rushed and the bartender was a great conversationalist! I could eat a bucket of that spicey squid salad. We WERE on a budget but the oysters were so sweet and fresh we decided to be late on rent and ordered another dozen

Stopped in for the happy hour $ 2 oysters — very delicious! Squid salad was superb — perfect ratio of spicy. They were pretty busy so it took a long time for food to come, kept 4 stars since they gave me a drink on the house for waiting so long. Would go there again!

I come here not often, but definitely Throughout this winter I’ve been in more. My favorites: Squid salad. Obvs the freshest oysters in town! I came in this past month and got the chefs choice, omakase(sp). Friggen marvelous. The sardine on the charcuterie plate was out of this world. They have a beer I adore, Pfriem Pilsner. Not a lot of places have this. Service is always great and the tenders are waaaaay knowledgeable. I’ve watched a know it all come in and try to stump them on classic cocktails and them make everything the dude asked for and provide a back story about whom it was that invented the drink and where. Lastly, get the oyster chowder. As a Mainer, I approve. Only knock is they could be open more.

This place stands out among it’s up and coming Division St neighbors that serve food and booze. The bartender(s) is excellent. Friendly but professional and always willing to help recommend which oysters to choose. We’ve mostly ordered drinks and raw oysters but the fried fish sandwich was outstanding as well. Double Mountain Vaporizor has been on tap, and tastes great with raw oysters! Hit the happy hour for best oyster prices, very reasonable.

My boyfriend and I go all over Portland to find good places for oysters. We really enjoyed B&T. We went right when they opened so we got a table right away, and we went during happy hour which we also loved as well. They have a wide variety for you to choose from and our waitress seemed knowledgeable to us. The only down side which is tiny is they didn’t have cocktail sauce and I love me some cocktail sauce with my oysters. The interior is very nice as well.

Had heard great things about this place, and loved its predecessor Block and Tackle, but this was a disappointment. The food was pretty good, especially the seafood charcuterie plate. However, the service was extremely slow. You’d think a charcuterie plate would come quickly, after all, they just have to put prepared items on a plate. But, it took at least 20 minutes to arrive. Our server was apologetic, saying that the kitchen was backed up(the restaurant was not full) and even comped us a round of drinks. There are so many choices of restaurants in Portland. I am not anxious to return to this one.

Really like this place. The HH menu has a few options for discounted drinks and 5 – 6 food options. And $ 2 oysters from any selections on the oysterr menu. Get the Squid salad! Our party of three loved it, along with the crab hand roll. You could easily spend $ 120 on HH(we did) but the food is fantastic.

Oyster craving? This place will satisfy it! I came in during happy hour, so they had $ 2 oysters on half shell. We ordered 2 of each of the 6 selections they had, including the Kumamoto. After that, we ordered 24 of the Kumamoto. Keep in mind that if you do order from the happy hour menu, the more expensive the oyster is normally, the smaller it will be when it comes out. My friend and I also shared the squid salad, which I enjoyed very much. Refreshing, yet had a kick from the grilled chilies. Overall, fair price for happy hour, though I’m not sure if I would pay full price for it.

A friend and I decided to have dinner here because we were in the mood for oysters. After some debating, we decided to go with the $ 35 tasting menu. YES, there IS a tasting menu! I didn’t see it online, but it was on the menu at the restaurant. Absolutely spectacular! Definitely worth it. I’m pretty sure after each food item hit our lips, we kept repeating«I am SO happy» and«This is SO good»! We started out with 3 kinds of oysters for each of us, and then one grilled oyster for each. So fresh and perfect. We got the crab rolls, which were a surprising delight. I could eat like, 6 of those. Then the squid salad, which was also tasty, but spicy as hell. I survived. Then onto our last two items were the mahi mahi sandwich, which was easily the best fish sandwich we had ever had, and the fish in a hot stone bowl – also amazing. Fresh, fragrant, and delicious! Overall, we had an incredible experience here. We went on a Thursday night around 8, so it was fairly slow. I highly recommend this place and can’t wait to go back!

Pretty good, this place. And Roe in the back. We’ve had the seafood charcuterie, the Mahi Mahi fish sandwich, tempura rock shrimp, seafood pot pie, dirty corn, and the oysters. Seafood charcuterie: Great flavors and textures, especially the oil packed tuna which didn’t taste fishy at all. I liked the pickles a lot. Small pet peeve: This dish on the menu is described as coming with brioche, but doesn’t actually come with brioche. Drives me nuts when the menu falsely advertises dishes. 4⁄5 Mahi Mahi fish sandwich: Pretty good & a huge portion. But the tomatoes were sliced too thickly and made it hard to eat the sandwich. 4⁄5 Tempura rock shrimp: Simple & tasty. Wish this came with more. 5⁄5 Seafood pot pie: I love that it comes with all the seafood that I like — lobster, scallops, and shrimp. The crust was nice and flaky. 4⁄5. Dirty corn & oysters: As expected, good. 4⁄5.

I had a very mixed experience here. The service was OK but very slow. The music was awful. Steating arrangements felt strange. The spicy salad was WAY too spicy! I can handle spice, but that salad was just inedible. The only redeeming quality was the oysters themselves, which were fresh and delicious. I probably wouldn’t come back.

Wow! Just wow. I will never go anywhere else in Portland for oysters. Even though that delightful bivalve(of which they have a rotating selection of about 6 varieties every night) is in the namesake, it barely scratches the surface of this seafood darling. I was by myself so I couldn’t sample the entire menu, though it was tempting. I went with a dozen oysters: fresh, not a speck of grit, the seafood charcuterie board and the squid«salad» The oysters: Not much to say, if you clean oysters right and you have good product they’re gonna be awesome. Mignonettes were pureed which I prefer. Seafood charcuterie: Smoked salmon mousse was a play on a lox/capers bagel, served with with whipped crème fraîche. House oil-packed tuna was so mild and rich that it could’ve been a chicken/duck rillette. The tuna pepperoni was a fish jerky with Italian seasoning. This was too fishy for me, but I bet most would like it(I am really sensitive to oily fish flavors). The star of the board, with no insult to the fabulous scaled offerings, were the house made pickles. I’ve never had pickled chanterelle or morel mushrooms before, but now want to eat them everyday, forever. Squid salad: If you don’t like spicy stop reading now, you won’t like this dish. However, if you can stand the heat… go thank the kitchen. Squid was beyond tender. The greens were minimal, hence why I used quotations further above, yet the inclusion of whole leaf mint into the mix was an awesome surprise. The only critique was that there was way too much of the, albeit delicious, dressing. Also service was wonderful. I sat at the bar and Christian was helpful, knowledgeable, and just plain fun. Tried the place out as an «audition» before dropping the big bucks for Roe’s chef tasting menu, ended up finding a new fav place in the process. And yes, cannot wait for what Roe has to offer.

I came here last night for a blogger tasting event and LOVED everything. This tiny candlelit oyster bar has a décor that is both chic and casual, making it the perfect place for date night or late night drinks with friends. They have a large drink selection, with some excellent and creative house cocktails. Now onto the food… in one word: Spectacular. I had some samplings from their late night happy hour menu and adored with their raw oysters, crab roll, and rock shrimp. Oh and their miso cream kale from the regular menu was the best kale dish I have ever consumed, bar none! I can’t wait to come back here with friends.

Pros: oysters for happy hour are delicious Cons: we waited for over two hours to get all of our food. The waitress explain that this is a family style sharing restaurant, but the portions were very tiny. We spent over $ 200 for 6 and walked out of there starving. If you’re hungry and want to eat delicious food to get full, don’t bother coming here. If you’re in the area and want some oysters during happy hour, then it’s a good stop.

Come during Happy hour 5 – 7 to get ½ off on the oysters. My wife and I came here just for the oysters and a glass of wine. As for the oysters… they had a great variety of different types and areas and a great price. We had ½ doz each and the flavors of the sea and brininess of the oysters and the freshness of the oysters were so amazing, without any sand and grit either. I could of ate another ½ doz. if I wasen’t saving my stomach for some chicken and waffles and gravy fries next door at sunshine tavern. The service here was slow and our waitress kinda forgot about us. Thats why the 3 stars. But if you come for the oysters then its definately 5 starts for the deliciousnes of the oysters. The service can improve by being more attentive.

This place is a nice find for happy hour oyster. HH is till 7pm, all oyster is ½ price, and it will btw $ 1.5 to $ 2 each. Really nice selection from OR, WA and New Zealand! Other items on the menu are quit fresh and good. Uni butter is great, but paring with the radish is okay, putting it on the bread actually did the magic. Squid salad was really good, and they have a good selections of local beer and cocktails. Service was very good.

The best selection of oysters that I have seen for sometime. I am not well versed in West Coast oysters, so we went with the chef’s selection, which two each of six of the varieties being offered that night. It gave us a very good example of the diversity of the WC oyster. The King crab roll was excellent! My wife was surprised to find that it contained roe, which typically doesn’t eat(and makes a face when I eat it), but the roll was so good she ordered a second. The chili grilled oysters were good. The sesame/miso grilled oysters were great. The combination accented the oysters wonderfully. B&T get extra credit for having a cider on their drink menu.

This is a great place for oysters!!! My party and I were looking for seafood in the Portland area and found this on Unilocal. We were a bit skeptical to try this place due to the low amount of reviews. Parking is a bit hard to find. As we approached the restaurant, we noticed it was in a nicer looking area of greater Portland. The restaurant itself had a nice ambience, with a rustic ocean feel, yet it was casual. We went during their happy hour, so a lot of oyster items were ½ off. Now for the oysters! We ordered a bunch and I was amazed how fast they chucked them to get to our table. Each description of the oysters were spot on and the coromandel was my favorite. It had the meatier taste and body, which I like! The oyster shooters were absolutely delicious and each oyster ran down smoothly! I would love to stop here again if I visited Portland! Thanks for some delicious oysters!

First time here & ate during happy hour. First, I called for reservation less than an hour before and they were helpful getting a table for us. They have a simple but interesting food menu. The drink menu had a large selection of drinks including Oregon draft beers and a great wine selection. The oysters are the best I’ve had ever. I was happy to find out they have Washington oysters available. The all have distinct taste and textures. I also had the carb roll which was a freshly cooked king crab(meaty, not flakey) in soy paper. Service was wonderful. They were nice and attentive. They were also knowable about the oyster. Happy hour was awesome with all the oysters being half off. Drinks were also a great price. I had a great time and will come back if I’m in the area again.
