Dave initially inspected the 2007 BMW I just bought and said it had serious transmission issues. In fact, he is so good, he could smell the burned gears when diagnosing the problem. I had taken the car initially to BMW and they said it needed a refurbed transmission at the cost of $ 7200! Dave took time to explain to me what was wrong although I am not mechanically savvy. I did not feel he was ‘bum rushing’ me into an expensive repair job. He actually told me more about the problem than BMW. BMW only drove the car and didn’t really inspect it. They just said because of the gear slipping, it needed a new transmission.
I HIGHLY recommend «Automatic Transmission Services» in Portland on SE 7^th. Dave is an EXCELLENT mechanic and stands by his work with a (2) year 24,000 mile warranty! Even his competitors recommend him for automatic transmission repairs. Although he wasn’t the least expensive shop, he was the best hands down! He was also THOUSANDS less expensive than BMW.

Honest people and so grateful for them fixing my daughters car. We were told by three shops we needed a transmission costing upwards in the amount of 6 thousand dollars for her BMW! Yikes!!! He looked at her car and it needed a small part under 50 dollars. Thank you and God Bless this man for being our Angel today :)

completely honest and knowledgable. Spent 20 minutes looking at the car and confirmed what he’d suspected on the phone, my transmission was fine. all I needed was probably a fuel filter. Friendly, helpful, and honest

ATS deserves big props for dealing with me amid a rather difficult, drawn-​out situation with my beloved Tempo. Essentially, my brakes were making a lot of squealing noises, so I took them to be fixed at another shop (which shall remain nameless for the time being, as they may have to deal with me in court). A few days later, I receive a call to the effect that, um, like, the brakes are all fixed and everything, but for some reason the transmission is dead. As in it just won’t go.
Super! So I begin a search for mechanics that eventually leads to a referral to this place. It took a ridiculous amount of time to get the brake job paid for, get the car towed to this new shop, order a new transmission (I ordered the wrong one at one point, because I am a freaking genius), etc. This is a small lot and putting them in the position of having to store a non-​moving car? Not cool. (And don’t do it at home!) But they were honest about what the car needed, and there were no surprises on the final bill.
