Al Forno Ferruzza

Alas, their cart has closed now that they have a permanent location up on Alberta (I talked to them at the recent Taste of the Nation). Sad news for me, but good news for them.

I will go ahead and admit that it’s POSSIBLE that I did not order the optimal dish, but I was seriously disappointed. I’d heard endless good things about this cart, including the ease of obtaining a heavenly vegan alternative.
I ordered a veggie calzone and found it… underwhelming. The crust was good and there were vegetables in it, but it was somewhat bland, very oily, and the sauce really was NOT the best I’ve ever had.
A lack of severe hyping might have prompted me to give this place three stars, but anything more would be pushing it.

Everyone needs a quest from time to time, and other than «True Love» what’s more noble than seeking out Great Authentic Sicilian Pizza.

Fear not the purple dinosaur hue for amazing treasure awaits.
Peruse the handwritten boards of destiny and drool.
Approach the window of the affable baker and engage him with witty dialog.
Speak the name of that which ye covet most (choose wisely).
Green paper shalt be requested, give it, lest ye desire to fail.
Observe the rise and fall of the flying dough saucer.
Behold the quality garden fresh ingredients and San Marzano tomato sauce.
Do not lose heart as the treasure is placed beyond mortal reach in the 700 degree inferno.
Note that the small charred spots mark greatness, not burntness.
Take the white box, momentary happiness lies within.
Savor the perfectly chewy, beautifully crisped crust, the just right tangy tomato sauce, the gooey melted cheese.
Bring me a shrubbery.
Aside from fantastic pizza, its really value that can be found here (and in these medieval economic times who doesn’t want that?). Top quality ingredients and preparation, street food prices. Sounds like a fairy tale ending to me.
