AJ’s Hair Design & Makeup

AJ is absolutely delightful and truly talented! I searched everywhere for a hair and makeup artist for my sister’s wedding. Based on reviews online, I picked her. I’m so glad that I did! She drove down to Salem on Saturday to do 7 services for the bride and bridesmaids. We were all completely satisfied. She went above and beyond our expectations :) I look forward to having an event in the future so I can have her do her magic again!

AJ did hair and makeup for me and my mother at my wedding in July 2014 on-​site at a winery. She was punctual, efficient and very professional. AJ listened to all of my thoughts, comments and musings during the day of and created the most beautiful hair that was exactly what I was thinking in my head, even though I wasn’t able to verbalize it very well. Not only did my hair get tons of compliments, my flawless makeup that looked like me, but with glow and glamour, was PERFECT as well.
We also went through a trial run a few months before my wedding, and I think that really gave me confidence on my wedding day. Kendal came to do a second hair style for me, and it was just fabulous as well. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend both of them to my girlfriends for their wedding or just a night out! Thank you!

AJ came to my house quite early on a Saturday morning to do my 13-​year old daughter’s makeup for her Bat Mitzvah. It was completely age-​approprate and perfect! She did NOT look overdone one bit, which was my first concern. My second concern was how it would last, but my daughter was picture-​perfect for the entire day!!! Thank you AJ.

Hair and makeup was done for my wedding, to a T. Perfection. I have never looked so beautiful and I wish I had her skills and patience to make my eyes look like they did. I still receive compliments from my wedding as a result of the wonderful assistance from AJ.
She styled my mother’s hair, and all of my bridal party, exactly how the pictures were that I had found. She also took tons of care to watching my hair as I was getting dressed, and you can tell that she is passionate about her product because it’s her brand!
AJ is a sweet, knowledgeable expert and I would trust her again and again for any event where I needed to look like I did for my wedding.

I did not have AJ… I had a stylist named Beth. This was the worst hair/​makeup experience of my life. She was slow and did not know what she was doing. I had extensions that needed to be put in and curled. Although I offered to quickly put them in (I am used to the extensions and the dimensions of my head), she said no and did them all wrong. When she was curling them she confessed that she hadn’t had much practice with them at all. My thoughts are she wanted to make sure she would be paid her full amount, and would not let me help in any way even if it was the more logical solution. She caked on makeup without any intention of concealing blemishes. The foundation was too dark and putting more on was not the solution, yet it was exactly what she did. When she walked me over to the mirror I tried to hide my horror. Somehow she managed to make me look worse than I did before the makeup. The eyeliner was a thick line all accross my eye (no definition whatsoever). The blush was at the center of my cheek in the front of my face and nowhere near my cheekbones. When I gave her pointers about what to fix so that I would like how my own face would look in the wedding, she replied with «Well, some people just aren’t used to certain looks, and that is why it looks strange to them». The makeup that she piled on my face looked absolutely nothing like the light look I showed her on the photo. When she began to pin my hair I felt her teasing my bangs along with the crown of my head hair and I asked her if she would be leaving the bangs out? (which is what the picture depicted). In response she asked, «Where are your bangs?». After she finished I went straight to the bathroom to repin my hair because it looked positively terrible. I left $ 140 on the table for her and asked for change ($ 10) because I was not about to leave a tip. She milled around outside the bathroom door and kept repeating «I dont have change, i dont have change». I could not believe that she had the audacity to do this. If I had screwed up someone’s face and hair for a special event to the point where they were re-​doing it in the bathroom before I left, I would say, «Hey, keep this 20 I dont have change. I did a terrible job anyway». I couldn’t take it anymore and I told her to just keep the change. I redid my makeup while driving to the bride’s house. I do NOT recomment Beth. I have not worked with AJ, but Beth I do NOT recommend. NEVER doing this again. This was an incredibly overpriced waste of makeup and nerves.

So happy with the services of these ladies! I had Kendal and Morgan do my and my bridal party’s make-​up for the big day. The girls were so nice, and they were willing to accommodate last minute service requests from my family. We all got so many compliments on our hair and make-​up – I felt beautiful on our wedding day! Kendal did my make-​up exactly how I imagined it, and they both were able to do wonderful looks for family/​friends that had a less clear idea about the «look» they wanted. Would definitely recommend AJ’s to any potential brides looking for pro services.

Aj did the hair and make-​up for my wedding on ⁸⁄₁₁ and OMG She nailed it! My hair was PERFECT! Exactly what I had envisioned. I had a very specific request for a Victorian style updo that no one does anymore and Aj was able to do it perfectly. I couldn’t have been happier! And my makeup was perfect! I made the right choice. I am very happy with the results. Highly recommend!!!

I have book AJ for my wedding in July 2013 for hair and make-​up for myself (bride) and bridesmaid. So far, AJ has been great to work with, very responsive through email and accommodating. I will update my review after the work is complete, but I expect the results to be beautiful!

AJ did the makeup and hair for my wedding for me and my girls… she is fabulous, fun and very personable… I loved what she did with my hair… Love love love her!
