What a tasty surprise found at the Jade District’s Asian Night Market! Yes, I went all the way up to the Asian Market, parked a thousand blocks away, endured lines longer than Disneyland for… Argentinian food! I couldn’t resist. It smelled so good. Super duper nice staff served us up a couple of empanadas and also a slice of Pasta Frolla, a sweet dish made with quince and dulce de leche. It was very, very sweet but would pair well with coffee for brunch. I had the Espinica: spinach, onion, carrots, red pepper, Fontina, and mozzarella. It was a delightful little bundle like a spanikopita but with interesting spice. The dough was more of a layered pastry dough than the usual dough I’m used to with the name ‘empanada’. Loved it! Best wishes to this company, serving up their grandmother’s recipes all around town for events and catering. Hope to bump into them again some time! Buen Provecho!
