A2B Moving & Furniture Delivery

I recently hired these guys to load the belongings of our 3 bedroom house into two PODs storage containers in preparation for a cross-​country move from Portland OR to Chicago. We packed into boxes 90% of our belongings ahead of the movers’ arrival — the only things that needed to be packed still were the linens on our beds and some kitchen appliances (our house was staged for selling, which we planned to pack while the movers were loading the boxes and furniture that was ready to go.
The good:
1. They showed up first thing in the morning, as promised, on the day we reserved. This was HUGE, because we had flown into town for just 2 days in order to move out of the house. I’ve had multiple experience with other moving companies, large and small, and 9 out of 10 times, they show up late. These guys held to their word.
2. They brought some extra supplies. I had purchased 2 dozen moving blankets in preparation for the move (can’t rent ‘em, unfortunately), but was short about 20 blankets all said and done. These guys fortunately brought extra blankets (I requested this), of course they charged me for it — but it did save me the headache of guesstimating how many to buy and then go through the head ache of trying to return the extras. During a move, it’s all about efficiency — and these guys definitely help with those things.
3. Overall, they were pleasant and hard-​working. It was apparent that they are trained professionals who’ve moved many houses before.
The bad:
1. There were only two men, which I didn’t think was going to be an issue — but I could tell that by early afternoon (toward the end), they started to get sloppy. Nothing was damaged leaving our house, but I did have to ask the movers on a couple different occasions to be careful of the boxes that said «FRAGILE» and «DON’t STACK» — as they would do just that — they would stack them! Specifically our artwork and china. It worries me to wonder what else they were not paying attention to while hurrying to load the PODS. I think that having even one more body on the job would have ensured more care. I know that they had a move after ours that they needed to get to.
2. They ignored our request to have disassembled pieces of furniture positioned together within the POD. IE: The headboard, main frame, and mattress were not placed together, but all throughout the POD. I have no idea whether we’re going to be able to find our hardware, though they did reassure us that they labeled everything and made sure to include hardware with the furniture. There’s just no way for us to know until we move into our new home and start putting stuff together! What bothers me most about this is that it felt like they were going to do stuff their way regardless of our concerns. We got a lot of «yeah yeah yeahs»…
3. They didn’t clean up after themselves. We ended up cleaning up empty drink cups, trash, as well as miscellaneous belongings of ours that they forgot (?) to load into the PODS. At the end of the day, we were exhausted as they were. And once we started signing the papers and paying with the owner, his helper got on the phone and started having a full on conversation with his girlfriend — meanwhile, there was clearly stuff that still needed to be loaded.
4. On a similar note of not really listening, they also packed up our linens and miscellaneous stuff that we told them we would pack ourselves — Including dirty clothes from our trip’s travels! I had to dig them out of the bottom of a box that had a number of random stuff — this really irritated me because I made it a point to say that I would take care of packing any loose objects (due to prior bad experience with another moving company «helping» us pack boxes). At such a stressful time, it just doesn’t feel good when your help shows an obvious lack of listening.
Overall, I give them a 3 because they got the job done, and were definitely hard-​working; however, I would be sure that they had an extra person with them, and would show them everything that was fragile ahead of time. I would also make sure that they picked up after themselves.
I’ll update this post once we get our belongings out of PODS and I see exactly how they packed our fragile items. Fingers crossed!

I had a 1 bedroom apartment that I needed moved and I underestimated how long it would take me. I called a few days before the move out day and these guys were willing and ready to help out! They provided the u-​haul and did all the lifting. It was great!

We made arrangements with Kerry at A to B to have a pick up of a bedroom worth of furniture for my aging 87 year old dad. Was first told 11AM on Friday… then when I texted Kerry Friday morning, he said more like 12 – 12:30…then at noon he texted that it would be more like 1PM. at 1:20 and again at 1:47 I texted and called him and got no response. Finally got a text response at 1:51pm saying «my helper injured his back… trying to find someone to drive that truck… maybe try «All Service moving or 541−292−1353». I told him I could help him load and got no response. All of this happened on the Friday before Memorial Day Weekend… I think someone’s long weekend was more important than his customer commitment. I SUGGEST YOU USE ANOTHER MOVER.

These guys are great. I accidentally scheduled my moving service on the wrong day and I was frantically searching for a company that could do a last minute move. These guys came through for me on my same day request! They were friendly, efficient, and careful with all of my stuff. I highly recommend their services.

This is my first Unilocal review. Why did I do it? Because these guys are the most courteous people you can find. That’s so rare to find these days. I called Noah up, and told him I was in a tight spot with a tight turnaround. He couldn’t accommodate me because they were booked and my move would only take 30 – 40 minutes. But he immediately gave me the name of another moving company, and within 10 minutes I was set. He saved my behind, and definitely didn’t have to. Great guys.

We recently moved to a new apartment because our apartment complex got bought out and if we moved before January 2013, we got a free December rent. We have a lot of stuff, heavy fold out couch, heavy mattress, desks, and boockases. There was no way Jesse and I would be able to move all of our stuff to our 3^rd floor apartment.
I used to use another moving company until Karry the owner of A 2 B Moving company messaged me about his new business. I met Karry through the previous moving company. He’s a great guy and very professional. I made an appointment for them to move us over the weekend.
Their rate is really really great. Other moving company will quote you the same rate without the truck. A 2 B moving company will bring their truck, hand truck, blankets, for the same rate or even less compare to other moving companies in Portland.
On the moving day, Karry & Joaquin arrived on time at 9 am. I signed the paperwork and they started right away. These guys are very strong. They could carry 3 or 4 boxes on their back and they are very careful as well. We filled up the truck and got to our new place. They unloaded everything carefully and very efficient. They didn’t complain on how our place is on the third floor. They even moved our super heavy fold out couch. I still feel bad about that. No complains from them.
They were done moving in our belongings in about one hour. Overall we hired them almost three hours and it’s worth every penny. Nothing damaged or broken. They are supermen literally. I don’t know how they were able to moved all of those heavy stuff just the two of them.
