A local establishment with low grade, but decent Cajun food. I’ve never been here at night, but I do compliment the place on early hours. The bartenders that I’ve seen are«okay» yet not quite attentive. The gumbo is, for a New Orleanean, BAD. The boudin balls are, well, decent. I still come here though. It’s a bar. I can drink at 7am. They have music playing on the jukebox. You can smoke here. It’s a local place. I’ve met local people. And the place is okay.

I have been going to the Hut over the past 20 years but last time I was there to eat, well it surely has changed. When Pat had it, you could always count on best food at a great price. When food is like it is now it isn’t such a deal for the money. Steak fingers are most all breading and greasy. Atmosphere is not the same either. They use to have a security guard that would keep an eye out for trouble and he is long gone now. The crowd has changed a lots too.

Cold beer and fried boudain balls. What more do you need? Went on Monday night to watch a little football. The bartender didn’t pay much attention to me but I’m an out of towner I guess.

This place had a bunch of great reviews… so I tried it. I think I probably should have had the fried boudain balls. The regular boudain was good but it didn’t hit the spot the way I’m used to. However, the price is great… and the service was quick. The 3 stars is for the Boudain more than anything.

the strangest thing I’ve seen as I walked in was there was a wall and behind that wall was a lady who took orders BEHIND the wall… o__O; But I noticed that behind the wall was a bar where some people were there playing pool and whatnot. So I guess there’s a door leading to that bar on the backside of the building. I’ve always wanted to try Boudain Hut when I was little but I never got to try them until now. 23 years old. I guess I had too much anticipation for my boudain and the boudain balls to wow me cause I was hugely let down of it’s taste. I don’t know why all these reviews underneath mine is going crazy for their boudain but these boudain wasn’t for me I guess. The taste was just spicy and they gave mustard? with my boudain. I didn’t know boudains were suppose to be eating with mustard… so that was more like a culture shock to me lol but huge thanks to the mustard, I was able to eat at least half of the boudain and throwing away the rest. Funny thing cause I don’t even like the taste of mustard. However, the lady behind the wall was sweet enough to let me try a piece of their hoghead cheese since I asked her what it was and that I had never heard of such name. She also kept calling me darling and etc which made me feel loved lol.

The quintessential Southeast Texas experience. Great food, great music, great dancers — everything about the Boudain Hut is wonderful… except it being far away from my home. Obviously, try the Boudain Balls, and bring your own liquor if you’re so inclined. Sundays are a great day to camp out and enjoy everything about the Boudain Hut.

Love this place!!! Local dive that serves up great food cheap all while listening to some good tunes and live music. I hear this place has been around for quite some time and I can see why. This is the local watering hole. There is definitely no denying I’m back in SETX when I come here. Folks are friendly, the beer is cheap and ice cold and the dance floor is jammed packed as the local band plays Zydeco music. This place does get packed and smokey so beware if that’s not your thing. As for the food, I definitely recommend the: Hogshead cheese, Boudain balls and it’s one of the few places I have seen actually serve Chicken O’s(straight out of my childhood!) Super friendly bartenders, James is great. P. S. Cash Only bar so make sure you bring it. But don’t worry, if you forget, they have an ATM inside

I only come here for the food, Boudain Balls specifically some of the BEST Boudain Balls in the area. The Boudain Hut has been here as a long time establishment for people to come hang out, drink, and spend time with friends. They have been known for their crawfish boils, BBQ’s, fundraisers, and things of that nature. but I come here for the Boudain Balls. Your not from around here and don’t know about Boudain? Well, Boudain is a traditional Cajun styled meat sausage that is filled with rice, grains, seasonings, meats, and other flavors from the cook’s pantry that is placed in a «Sausage styled» casing. Everyone does it differently… so that is NOT the debate here, just the explanation for the non-boudain folk. You ask: «well if that is Boudain. where are the balls?»… I answer simply that the Boudain link has NOBALLS. [grinning] But what you can do is get that fine mixture of boudain that the cook has created, shape it using an ice cream scoop, batter/bread it and deep fry it for a delectable taste of a now Fried«Boudain Ball». that is what you get. Simply put, you need to go there to taste them. They are worth the visit, you may need to wait a bit and have a local drink while they cook them up fresh… but you will not be discouraged and your time waiting will be well invested. Spend some time, go down the highway, and visit the Boudain Hut for some great fried Boudain Balls. You will leave happy, filled, and probably ready for a nap… oh yeah, order enough to take some home for later; your friends and family will love you for it.
