I spent my childhood at Pt Magu. Lived right next to the runway. My dad was stationed there from 1968, I believe, until 1974. I have very fond memories of the base. And they say u end up where u started! Well, sort of! Now I live a mile from Joint Base McGuires, Ft Dix, Lakehurst… planes flying over my head… again!

Rating for the Air Show Pros, Cons, then summary PROS – You get to see some awesome pilots in actions. The Blue Angels, and sometimes the Thunderbirds, never let down. They are exciting. The other aircraft and displays are great, educational for kids and adults alike. So why the 2 stars? CONS – Logistically, this is a poorly planned event. Maybe because they haven’t done it for awhile? Parking was atrocious. Traffic was ridiculous to get through both entering, and leaving. Whomever designed this needs to be fired or demoted… Traffic bottlenecks into 1 gate, yet there are other gates that could open opened and/or used better. Took about 1 hour to get off the runway and off the base. Just terrible planning all the way around. Would I go back? Of course, where else can use see professional pilots, and powerful military aircraft? As another review said GETHEREEARLY, because I doubt the traffic issue will be resolved. Fix the parking issue. I’m willing to lend my common sense to the problem.

If you’re here for the air show you must arrive early in the morning. It was our 1st first time here and arrived at 11:30 a. m thinking it wouldn’t be that bad but an hour in and we still have a long long line until we make it to the show. It’s now almost 1 p.m. and it ends at 3 so I just hope we make it.

PROS – Incredible Air Show! Five Stars! 1 star(should be zero) For VIP Parking lot and manner in which traffic control was NOT handled. Very very poorly planned parking lot. Parking was atrocious. Traffic was insane and very dangerous to leave VIP Parking lot! Whoever was responsible for«traffic control» needs to be fired or at the very least put in charge of cleaning out port-a-pottys(which made it out of parking lot via their own special access:(…All traffic …100s and 100s of cars/trucks)bottleneck into 1 gate, yet there are other gates that could open opened and/or used better. Took a full 1 hour to get out of the actual VIP lot… a couple of thousand feet! TOTALLY ruined a fabulous day! Would I go back? Absolutly not unless I was driving the port-a potty truck:)
