Let me start by say that the food is AMAZING !!! The twists are to die for, and I’m speechless when it comes to my experience … Drove in from Santa Barbara, CA. My boyfriend, Wallace, is an artist, and we are delivering art to Bozeman, Montana., as well, he is an avid vintage clothing picker. We made our way to the Goodwill store in Pocatello. The clerk there recommended Butter Burrs as her top pick for diners in Pocatello. What incurred at Butter Burrs was hands-down our best experience at any restaurant we have happened upon. My hope is that these comments are well-received, and that your establishment realizes how exceedingly well your employee represents Butter Burrs, and that she is compensated for her high standards. # 17, with this warmth that exceeded any expectations I have had from any of the restaurants I have frequented throughout my travels. At every stop at our table, she checked-in with us to be sure we were well taken care of, but more so, arrived with a heavenly smile and comments that brightened our morning. As an aside, I was in a motorcycle accident just a week ago, and every day since, I have been blue and have struggled to start my day. When we left Butter Burrs, this angel approached both Wallace and I and hugged us and expressed how much she appreciated us. I left with tears — my boyfriend, who can have a pretty hard exterior, walked out with his mouth a-gasp. We are on our way to Bozeman, with such a lovely memory to accompany us. These are the elements of life that allow one to see the silver living amongst the challenges. Please give our best to #17, with the cool punky haircut, glowing bronzed skin and stylish rings — a classy and stunning woman. Our sincerest regards, Wallace Piatt — wallaceisart on IGRAM and Angela Paez. Sent from my iPhone

Every table around me had meals that looked amazing! Mine, my wife’s and my mother’s were all very disappointing. My famous mashed potatoes were dry, crumbly and tasteless. My wife’s burger was way, way overdone. I was very disappointed in my bland, chicken fried steak. Heard so much good about this place, but that wasn’t my experience. All the good looking meals were breakfast plates. If you go, I suggest those.

Came in because I saw it had a lot of reviews on Unilocal. Not super impressed. Ordered a chicken sandwich, potato soup, and oatmeal pie. The bread on the sandwich was really good. The chicken was weird. Makes me wanna not eat chicken for a while. I regret not getting the cinnamon twist, because it looks like that’s the best thing there. Potato soup tasted like it was out of a can and had the consistency of boogers. Overall, disappointed. Probably not returning.

Great beer batter fires. Everything else is gross or weird. Everyone raves about this place but it really isn’t special. Each time we’ve eaten there I’ve been disappointed in the quality of the food. While the SST is a value — you get what you pay for… low quality food. The bread is homemade and that’s pretty good, the oatmeal pie masquerading as pecan pie is just gross. Asked if they had real whipped cream and they brought it served with cool whip. Cool whip is NOT whipped cream. The fries are the only thing this place has going for itself. This restaurant exists in limbo between awesome home cooking and crap. It won’t kill you to eat there but it won’t leave you with much more than some food in your stomach. I hear it was much better previously but owners went through nasty divorce that resulted in cost cutting and lowered quality. Maybe all the raving from locals are memories of this places’ glory days?

Dinners defiantly NOT fresh food! Everything is frozen and microwaved. Awful! Service slow. Ordered chicken breast dinner. My mother ordered veal dinner. Both were hard as a rock. Coffee shop food and quality. Will never eat there again.

Went on a recommendation of a friend. Cinnamon twist and oatmeal pie are both amazing. Had the deep fried grilled cheese, delicious but would not eat on a regular basis. I left feeling like I weighted 10 lbs more than when I went in. Definitely a must stop when I’m in town. Did I mention I got a soup, sandwich, pie and twist for $ 9. That’s cheap.

Read the whole thing. Three stars only reflects the fact I’ve only been here once and the atmosphere is to «chain» like. The food was good, the cinnamon twist wonderful and the place was spotless. No really, clean like I’ve never seen in a restaurant.

I placed a to go order for 3 soups. One of the soups was pure broth. Very, very, disappointing. Check your order before you leave, because they do not.

Went to eat breakfast here and it was okay. Nothing special, but also not horrible. The eggs were pretty eggs, the cinnamon twist was delicious(but probably extremely bad for you) and my hash browns were undercooked. The service was pretty good and friendly. Even though they were busy they servers didn’t make us feel rushed one bit. I give two stars because hash browns are important to me and you can’t just crisp the top.

The breads, the soups, the butter buns and for desert scones. Buttery fried dough, powdered sugar, more butter. Great creamy bacon n potato cream soup. Third pound ultimate bacon and patty melt burgers scone for desert.

Over the years, we’ve tried most dining options as we travel here for errands. This has always been on the list, but it took a long time to get to the top. In the end it really is a standard diner. Some of facility is getting a little long in the tooth. In other ways the longevity shows. The place knows what it wants to be. The food is good. It’s better than the national chains, but there is nothing to really set it apart.

The food here is pretty good and I got a cinnamon twist with it too! We went there for breakfast on a Saturday and it was pretty busy. Only had to wait a few minutes. I would go there again.

Butterburrs is one of the permanent fixtures in Pocatello. I have been in here several times for breakfast lunch and dinner and I really can’t find a reason to not rate it 5 stars. They always have a warm atmosphere and great food. I love the fresh cinnamon and raspberry twists they have available every day. And don’t forget to try the pies. It’s not a gourmet five star dining establishment, but rather a delicious family diner that should not be missed.

I really didn’t understand the 4+ star review. Yes, it’s an old family diner, but no alcohol of any kind and the food was mediocre at best. The service was good, but that doesn’t change the boring taste of the food. Sorry!

Good service, friendly staff, tons of good food for cheap. Recommend the oatmeal pie. Cream of bacon soup was delicious. Lots of chicken fried options.

I wasn’t a huge fan my first time at Butterburrs. The look and feel to the place leaves some to be desired, but the food really is good, so I’m now a repeat customer. Great prices too! I always go for lunch and get the SST special which is a sandwich, soup/salad, and a treat for around $ 7. The potato soup is always better than I expect it to be. And super filling! French Vegetable soup was just okay. My favorite sandwich is the Cheese Frenchy. It’s a battered and fried grilled cheese. Yes, it will probably shorten your lifespan, but it is soooo very good. I’ve tried a few other sandwiches that were all good, but now I always get that Frenchy. For treats, the oatmeal pie can’t be beat. It’s pecan pie’s cousin and it is surprisingly delicious. Their twists and coconut cream pie are also pretty dang good. Anyway, Butterburrs is nothing fancy, but they never disappoint. It’s a cheap, filling, and tasty meal that can’t be beat.

Let me start by saying that my five star rating is for this class of restaurant: a family restaurant, a diner. I had lunch here twice in a week, both times with two kids and another time with an additional diner. Both times we had very friendly service, with multiple check-ins to see if we needed anything else. The kitchen accommodated our minor special requests with no objection. The cinnamon twists are an epic treat! I also especially enjoyed the vegetarian soup, which was as good as or even better than what I make at home. My kids raved about the quality of the bacon that came with their breakfast dishes(breakfast is served all day). We also enjoyed the unusual Oatmeal Pie — trust me, it’s better than it sounds. It’s similar to a southern pecan pie, but without the pecans, and with some rolled oats in the sweet gooey matrix. It was served heated, which was a plus. Next time I am in Pocatello, I will definitely return to Butterburrs.
