I’ve been to Katherine twice and although she does a really good job, her personality is hard to look past. When talking about my sister’s pregnancy she had the audacity to ask me if she was married(she is, but that’s besides the point). She then referred to my hair as wiry. I’m a woman of color, not a dog. For the $ 300 I paid for a cut and color, I shouldn’t have to be questioned about black stereotypes or have my hair insulted because it isn’t the same texture as the average woman that walks through the door.

Stay away burned all my girlfriends hair off during a color, lost half of her volume! And all they said was oh well things happen! Check out my pictures that I posted if they are still up! It’s all beginners there! Total rip off!!!

My boyfriend bought me a spa package for christmas and I have never loved him more. I had such a spectacular experience. My day started with getting a pedicure/manicure. The lady providing this for me was just the sweetest. She was the perfect combo of talking enough, but also providing a relaxing quiet environment as well. I was offered hot towels, coffee, magazines. Next I was provided with lunch in the quiet spa area, and then received the best hour massage from a very talented gentlemen. I have never been so relaxed. My day ended with getting my makeup completed. I left feeling so great about myself. I would totally go back. Nails/Toes, Massage, and makeup done and not one bad, or even mediocre experience… I think that is pretty impressive.

I got my hair fixed here because I had a really bad highlight job from another salon. Michelle was very nice and did her best to make my hair a nice chocolate brown color. Overall it is very pretty, but a tad on the warm side. I got the Aveda Clove shampoo to preserve the color until my natural grows out. Pretty spendy, but definitely worth it. Will be going back.

I’ve been going here since 2007 and after living in another state for four years and experimenting with three different salons after my return to Minnesota, I have once again become a loyal customer. I love it here. The customer service is excellent and their stylists are experienced and sincere. Heather is AMAZING! She’s a top level stylist, so her rates are a bit pricey, but worth every penny. Every time I visit, I leave with my hair looking exactly like I requested. She’s honest and she explains what you’re hair type is capable of and tells you what she can do to get the results you want. Then she lets you decide which route to go and you leave getting exactly what you discussed and probably looking better than what you expected. I finally found a great salon and stylist and I’ll go here for as long as I can.

Do not see Amy Jo as a stylist at Reflection in Plymouth. She butchered my haircut. I never saw her before and not sure why I chose her. Maybe because I thought $ 55.00 stylist can’t go wrong. Boy was I wrong! She cut one side shorter than the other on the bottom. The length was longer in the front than back. I wanted straight all around. The layers were thicker on one side than the other. She point cuts really deep, but only in spots which leaves HUGE holes in the hair. I went back to her to fix, she made a deeper mess. 1 inch shorter on one side again than the other. She calls shattering fixing. WOW was she DRUNK? I got my money back and went to a $ 13.99 hair stylist and they fixed it the best they could. I will never pay more than $ 13.99 for my hair cut. Lesson Learned!

This review is for Tarra… I have been going to her for facial for past few months now and I just love her. As I have troubled skin she makes sure she extracts all the breakouts which really helps my skin. She uses the right pressure on the face when needed.

Friendly staff, nice nail service. A little expensive but when the boss pays I can’t turn it down!

I went to the Plymouth location, and my experience was lovely. I’m guessing my stylist, Katherine, figured out early that I’m not the kind of person who likes to chat during my hair cuts, so she didn’t chat, just made sure she knew what I wanted and that I was happy. I can’t stress this enough, I love stylists who don’t chit chat! I’m not accustomed to getting mini scalp and hand massages, so those freebies were really nice. Their shampoo room was really relaxing(calming music, dim lighting), I felt like I was having a whole day spa experience, rather than just a hair trim. My stylist answered my questions about how to better hydrate my hair, and she seemed really knowledgeable. She also was not pushy on products, which I appreciated. Overall, my experience was super relaxing, timely, and satisfying. I took off a star because the shampoo sink left me with a bruised head. I noticed that the sink was hard at the time, but it didn’t bother me that much, so I didn’t think much of it. But afterward, the back of my head has been really tender. It’s still tender three days later. Maybe I just have a really sensitive head? But maybe they need more padding or something on the sinks. Just a thought.

I received a Gift Card to any salon of my choice, and I chose New Reflections. This was my first visit to NR, and I was scheduled for a massage. Upon entering, my senses were blessed with wonderful scents, and I was greeted warmly, and immediately. I was given a GLASS of water, which I thought was very classy, and shown into a wonderful lounge area to await, ERICA T. I don“t think I have room to list how amazing ERICA was from start to finish. She was professional, she listened to my requests, and her technique was EXQUISITE. Ive had MANY massages in my day, but I’d openly admit that this was probably the best experience Ive ever had. I felt amazing when I left, and have plans to return in the future. As for the salon atmosphere outside of the massage center, I witnessed a very vibrant, positive environment, with lots of AVEDA products, jewelry, make-up, and smiling faces. A+

This is the first Aveda Concept salon I’ve ever been to. Before that I tried the Aveda Institute which is what turned me into an Aveda convert. As salons go, it’s very nice and relaxing. The staff is always friendly and the whole place is always clean. Hair Coloring: I’ve had my hair done by Heather(a new talent) twice now. The first time she took me from a brassy red head to a blond and it looked beautiful! The second time she just did the touch up on my roots and I just love the color. I also wanted a little streak of a bright color put in and she talked me into doing extensions, otherwise the color would be gone in a week. Hair Extentions: So Katie is my girl for extensions and she is so nice! She gets just as much of a kick out of my fun pops of color as I do. In fact, the second time I did them I told her to just pick a light purple that would go with my eyes and skin tone. She picked out a great color! She even gave me her e-mail so we could discuss colors without me having to come in for a consultation. Everyone has their own preference for how they like their extensions, but for just a few streaks of color, the keratin bonding works really well for me. I have quite a bit of hair though, so I don’t need any for volume. Appointment Timing Mess-Up The last time I was in for hair I had made an appointment for root touch-up on blond highlights with Heather, a switch out of hair extensions with Katie and a spray tan. Somehow my appointments got all messed up and my regular hair went an hour longer than it should have on the books. I could tell they were a little stressed out, but they didn’t burden me with their stress, they just worked it all out the best they could and I got everything I came in for(even if the tan was with a different person). They certainly didn’t charge me for extra time and were very accomodating about the situation. That really impressed me. Eyelash Extensions I also get lash extensions there. Tara is fantastic and clearly loves what she does. My only gripe(not about her) is that they claim the lashes will last 8 weeks… no, no they don’t. I learned after my first set fell out so unevenly that I ended up pulling them off that you need to go back for your fill every 3 weeks, not 4 weeks. I can say though, that because I was bad and pulled them out, she had a lot less to work with and I still left the salon looking like my lashes were perfect and full. Last time I went in for a fill she told me she would be able to attach lashes onto the ones I had pulled out, so I’ll have a ton of them on next time. What I truly love and think it’s worth the money for is that on days I don’t want to put much make-up on, I still look like I have mascara! So worth it! Spray Tan: As I mentioned I did get an airbrush spray tan from them. They say it will last 7 days and I even purchased the extender to make sure it lasted my whole trip to CA(7 Days). I would say it lasted 5 days. If you’re just wanting to look tan for one evening, it’s worth it. Just don’t count on it really lasting 7 days if you NEED it to. And as it started to fade my legs looked almost like they had age spots. I realize the tan comes off differently with everyone and exfoliating once it got to that point really helped. Just make sure you don’t want to look perfectly tan again a week later, becaue you might be dealing with some blotchy spots.

Terrible terrible terrible. Plymouth location is lousy. Never timely. Poor results. Was waiting 50 min for a bang trim then they canceled it. Have had too many similar experiences there. Will never go back.

Though pricey, this is the only salon I trust with my eye-brows($ 20 wax). Clean salon and professional staff! I love getting my eye-brows waxed by Kelly. She’s quick and good at what she does! Highly recommended :)

I just have to review this place because if you read my review of the Maple Grove location, you’d know I’m developing a hatred for New Reflections. I was desperate for a color close to home, and I’m particularly fond of Aveda’s color. I was able to get in within about an hour of calling. The woman that colored my hair was what I’m discovering is standard for this chain: young, grim and unfriendly. Maybe they just universally don’t like me because I have a lot of hair. Anyway, she did an all over color — black — so she couldn’t really mess that up. She did do a good job of not getting it all over my hairline. She didn’t want to talk to me and talked animatedly into her little microphone to employees in the salon. All of this would’ve been, well, fine, but at the end, I got the added surprise«Extra Time» charge of $ 25.00. Wildly annoying and I still think they should give you a heads up, especially when you’re already paying upwards of $ 75 – 80 for a color without their surprise charges. Will I ever learn my lesson?

Note: This review is for the Ridgedale location. I made the mistake of straying from this salon for a haircut and ended up with a mullet that made me look like I belonged in an Eastern European ABBA cover band. I’ve always had great cuts and color at this salon. The stylists really listen to what you want. They know what’s fashionable in the world of hair and won’t let you walk away looking like an overworked suburban housewife or an overdone CNN news anchor. I made a huge mistake by going someplace else, and I’ve paid the ultimate hair price. As soon as my Ukrainian disco mullet grows out, I plan on returning here for some serious hair therapy.

I must give a shout out to the salon I’ve been trusting with my hair for 5+ years. I go to the Plymouth location since that’s my hood! I am loyal to one stylist but have seen five since I discovered the place. I’ve never gotten a bad haircut there(knock on wood)! The stylist I’m loyal to not only does great things to hair, but she has never canceled or made me wait for too long upon my arrival. After you join their«e-rewards» program, you get $ 2 off your bill for pre-booking your next appt. during each visit. BUT you have to be very vocal about it when they ring you up or they will«forget» and they sure as heck don’t remind you. Just an FYI!

This is a pretty standard chain of Aveda salons — the Ridgedale location is in the central court of the mall, but once you’re inside the salon you’d never know it. I almost always get a free hand massage or paraffin dip when I come in. All guests are offered tea, coffee, or water and the waiting area is comfortable. The prices seem pretty standard for Aveda(around $ 40 for a women’s haircut) and there’s a great(and green) customer rewards program. It’s relatively easy to book an appointment and the hours are convenient for people who work. I get my hair cut and colored and my brows waxed by Rachael at the Ridgedale location — she’s amazing!
