I had Dunrite replace my furnace after they provided a quote. It was comparable to another company. They did a decent job — the furnace was sealed nicely with plenty of tape to keep air from escaping. The unions of the pipes are tight and gas line pipe joints good and no apparent leaking. I would just recommend a few improvements and explained to the gal on the phone my disappointment that while Chuck did such a thorough job, the installers could improve upon theirs. Upon request for payment when they were done and standing at the front door, I dragged them downstairs to look it all over. They should have taken me down there to go over the job and explain something they changed — they added another pvc pipe leading to the ejector pump into which I need to pour bleach but they didn’t point out they had added it. And they should have the rebate paperwork with them to give the customer to fill out while they’re there all day long rather than emailing it later and the customer having to figure out a way to get it back to them. But a decent job all in all.

I needed a new furnace for our house so I got 3 quotes. Dunrite seemed the best based on what the sales guy said and how much he knew(all 3 were very similar in price) so I went with them. I liked that the sales guy didn’t give me the run-around and try to sell me a new AC unit when I didn’t need one. I just needed a new furnace. It went downhill from there. The day they were to install it they didn’t get a very early start so they didn’t finish till around 7PM. The installers had to make several trips to the store to buy the correct supplies. You would think a company that installs high efficiency furnaces for a living would have a masonry hole saw for running the air intake and exhaust, right? Not these guys — they punched a big rectangular hole in my tan brick wall and then proceeded to goop the hole and the surrounding wall full of GRAY caulk. I didn’t see this till the next day as it was after dark when they finished. I complained and they came back and cleaned all the extra gray caulk off the wall, but it still doesn’t look very good. They also managed to spill a whole can of purple PVC primer all over my new furnace, new electronic air cleaner, and my vinyl floor. So now everything is purple in that area. Hopefully the PVC primer didn’t do any damage. Now for the even worse parts… they didn’t run the exhaust pipes properly. They had a leak in one of their fittings(luckily the city inspector caught that and made them fix it) and they didn’t properly support the exhaust pipe. The brackets all started to bend(they were installed wrong) and the pipes filled with condensation. I noticed the pipes were dropping and fixed them. I could hear all the water draining back to the furnace drain. What I didn’t realize is that the large amount of water would overwhelm the drain line and fill the blower with water. Luckily I heard the water gurgling when the furnace kicked on and I fixed it before it did real damage.(about an hour of work pulling the blower out to drain it and put it back together again). Today I hooked up a new thermostat that properly controls the 2 stage high efficient furnace… and guess what… I found out they set it up wrong for the old thermostat. They were supposed to set the switches on the control panel for a single stage thermostat but they left them set for a 2 stage thermostat. The old thermostat was definitely NOT a 2 stage thermostat as it only had 4 wires. Anyway — I’m lucky that I have the skills to fix most of their screwups. But if I were YOU, I would look for a different company to install your new furnace.
