I’ll start with everything I liked. As an Indiana native, this place felt like home. The hostess was friendly and welcoming. My waitress, I wish I remembered her name, was excellent. The perch dinner was a perfect portion of fish, sweet, well prepared, fresh and nicely seasoned. Good baked potato. The menu looked pub-by and typical, not too large. There was a table of lady friends nearby, enjoying all of their meals. I was alone due to circumstances and was completely comfortable in a booth, with political news streaming without volume, thank someone, on a large screen overhead. Normally, tvs are obnoxious to me, this one didn’t bother me, likely because it wasn’t making any noise and the images were interesting enough. Only downside of the place, I don’t think the butter that came with my potato was butter and the salad was iceberg lettuce and not a wedge, so kind of retro, but overall, I’m glad I went there and I commend the staff and the perch highly!

As always, this review was written by my wife for her Facebook friends. Burger Quest — Week 10(I think): After several days of cold, snow and wind, today’s sunshine and warmer temps. got us in the mood to hit the road. So it was off to the City of Plymouth where the Brass Rail Bar & Grill awaited. The structure itself is an attractive brick building with a warmly lit interior and quite comfortable seating. Being an older building the design has its ups and downs, so to speak, so signs reading«STEP» can be found throughout to warn patrons of slight level changes. This establishment remains open from lunchtime through a late dinner hour and features daily and nightly food and drink specials. For burger hunters such as ourselves 6 styles of half-pound hand pattied ground beef sandwiches are offered ranging in price from $ 5.50 to $ 6.99. These burgers are pretty basic without the need for extreme or exotic toppings which really showcases their top quality beef. I ordered the Blue Cheese Pretzel Burger which came loaded with bleu cheese crumbles and topped with lettuce and tomato on a Brass Rail signature pretzel bun. Scott chose the Mushroom Burger which came«dressed to the nines» with sautéed button mushrooms, true provolone cheese, lettuce and tomato. Dill spears accompany each burger. This is the first eatery we’ve encountered that offered no side(not even chips) with its sandwiches so Scott added onion rings to his plate. It was love at first bite as we sunk our teeth into those perfectly chargrilled beauties. There was just enough fat content in the beef to keep the patties together and give a rich flavor and moist texture, but not enough to cause the sandwiches a greasy drip. Management should actually call these marvels«Almost-Like-Steak Burgers.» Those of you who follow our reviews know that we don’t mind traveling for a good burger, but you have our word that these burgers were well worth the 48-mile drive and we’d be more than happy to do it again. FYI: Full bar service is available. The Brass Rail Bar and Grill is proud to be a Smoke Free Zone. A separate dining room exists for the comfort of families with small children. A small bandstand containing electronic equipment and a dance floor indicate occasional live entertainment. Service is friendly but professional and very efficient. We promise you will not be disappointed when you visit.

What a great place! I was traveling in Indiana for a wedding and stopped here with my friends and family to catch the Michigan game. The service was outstanding! They went to the trouble of finding the game, saving a table and made sure we had everything we needed. They even turned the volume of the game up when asked! They made us feel so special! We ordered drinks, appetizers, and lunch sandwiches and all were excellent. The service was the best I’ve had anywhere in a very long time. This place gets kudos for going the extra mile! Thank you for a great experience.

We have visited The Brass Rail about 4 times and we have had great food and service every time! I’d recommend the Roast Beef on Pretzel Bun and the Vanilla Bean Cheesecake… just two of our many favorites!

Loved the burger except I had to eat the hamburger with a fork. The reason was the bun fell apart! The juice from the burger made the bun soggy.

We’ve been coming here on our way to Michigan for last 15 years. We stop over in Plymouth just to have dinner here. I can only say it gets better and better. It doesn’t matter what you get it’s all good. My husband had the liver and onions. The portions are so hearty he’s looking forward to having a sandwich from the leftovers at our lunch stop tomorrow. The ambiance is very nice. Not noisy like a lot of bars and we ate in the bar area. Haley, our server was delightful. Can’t say enough. Wish we had place like this back home.

First, Brass Rail is smoke free. I thought this place was great. We were on a road trip for my husbands birthday/end of summer trip. We had dinner here and it was tasty! The kids meals were delicious and inexpensive. I had the fish. A little salty but tasty. Husband had the fettuccini Alfredo. Yum!!! To top it off, I asked the waitress if they d anything for birthdays. They didn’t usually, but the dear girl sang happy birthday to him. Everyone was friendly and we had a lovely time.

Great little place if you’re ever in the mood to drive to a fun part of the country. Apparently they are know for their Steak — so, naturally I got a burger. Just wasn’t hungry enough for a steak, sorry. Decent burger, nothing Amazing, but all in all a nice stop.

A bit expensive for the fare, but all in all, I’m guessing one of the better restaurants in town. The building was a bit smoky, but all the food was decent. Clean, quiet atmosphere and pleasant service. Pretty good.

Favorite place to eat in Plymouth. Don’t pay attention to the complaints about cigarette smoke because there are dining rooms with no smoking. The Rail Burger is a monster lunch and challenge you to finish the whole thing in one sitting. We take customers here, and they’ve all enjoyed the food, the environment, and the service.

I wanted to like this place more than I did … Great location in downtown Plymouth, but as soon as I walked in all I could smell was cigarette smoke. As a solo diner, I would have had dinner at the bar but it smelled so bad I knew I wouldn’t be able to stand it. Luckily, there was a separate non-smoking dining area — but no physical barrier so it was a a little stinky, too.(Smoke doesn’t care that one room is supposed to be smoke free!) However, the service was excellent and the food was good. The dinner salad was iceberg lettuce and radicchio with exactly 2 chunks of tomato and 2 cucumber slices. It got better after that. :) I had the special blue gill lake fish, battered and pan fried. Really delicious delicate fish flavor. The baked potato was sooo good! I don’t know what kind of potato it was(not russett) but it was firm and a tiny bit sweet. I liked that the butter and sour cream were served on the side. Server Kelly was prompt in greeting me after I was seated and told me the specials. My dinner was served quickly and she checked back several times to clear dishes and be sure all was okay. This would have been a solid 3-star review except for the awful smokiness. They really should do something about that!

LOVE this place!!! I go there easily 10 – 12 times a month. Lunch is super good and so is dinner. Lunch and dinner menus are a little different. Both are EXCELLENT though! A must go to for fish and upscale bar food!

Just have to say, when it comes to owners of a business, Dave and Michelle really take the prize. You can go there nearly any night of the week and at least one of them are there. And they work their tails off too. You gotta love the pride they take in their business. The food is good and the atmosphere is great. It is one of the only restaurants that you can go in and have dinner and drinks and it is local family owned which is a plus. Spend your money at the Brass Rail and it stays in our community!!!

Why do people go here? Maybe because it’s one of the few restaurants that serve alcohol in town. I have given this place 6 tries, and each time I have walked out thinking I could have gotten better food at home. The ambience is comfy, though.
