Love this place! They strive to provide delicious food with local ingredients. The staff is extremely friendly and professional. Hubs and I always sit at the bar in order to see the action in the kitchen. That is the highlight of this place! What a neat feature. How often do you get to be a part of the kitchen? Sometimes they give out little mini appetizers and tastes to the customers at the bar. This is absolutely our favorite place to splurge on! Keep it up! :)

Love this place. Service is great, food is always interesting and tasty. Gumbo with andouille and Maine skate tonight with chorizo and tortillas accompanying it. Creative and tasty. Worth the drive !!

Just a quick update: a few weeks after our visit, I received a hand-written post card in the mail from Christian’s thanking us for visiting the restaurant. A very nice touch.

They try hard and we tried very hard to like this place. A few things need to be fixed for this to be the restaurant it is trying to be. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of competition in the area at this level of restaurant, and without other restaurants pushing it, these issues may not get fixed. 1. We were from out of town and had a reservation that we had made five days in advance for 7PM. We arrived at 7 to a crowded restaurant with nice booths and less desirable tables. We were told that if we wanted a booth we had to wait for about 25 minutes. They offered us a small table near the door right in the«line of fire» as an alternative. We chose to wait at the bar for a booth that was indeed available a bit less than half an hour later. We just felt that if someone from out of town goes to the trouble of reserving a table well in advance, a nice table should be waiting for them upon arrival. That being said, the bartender/GM was very nice and made good cocktails. Nice selection of spirits and wine. 2. Once seated we were immediately told that they were out of steak. 7:30PM out of steak? OK. it happens, but we found the menu too fish-centric. The only meat entrée choices were pork tenderloin and pulled pork mac and cheese. They had a couple of sandwiches, but the rest of the menu had a fish stir-fry, grouper, fish and chips, walleye, tuna, and marlin. No chicken, beef or lamb alternative. I had the seared tuna and my wife the walleye. Both were good, but again I was more in the mood for meat. Tuna was indeed seared, but with no distinct flavor or sauce. 3. For starters we had raw oysters and calamari. Oyster were brought with no sauce of any kind, nor was the calamari. We had to ask, at which point we were only brought lemon and hot sauce. 4. We both had Kale salad. It was good. 5. As soon as our appetizer plates were cleared, we were brought a dessert menu by someone other than our waitress. We told her we had not had our entrees yet and she apologized and let us know she was still in training. 6. They spent way too much effort on cleaning up the restaurant around the patrons, than taking care of the patrons themselves. We should not have seen garbage transported out of the rest rooms while we were eating. Also we get that they wanted to get a jump on cleaning up, but if we wanted to see a dining room being cleaned during dinner we would have eaten at Denny’s. In the mean time, not once did our water glasses get filled while we we there. 7. Maybe we are a bit picky, but after dropping almost $ 200 after tip for a meal in STEVENSPOINT, WI we felt that we exited a bit short changed. 3 star review in lieu of 2−½, because they don’t offer the option of ½ stars.

Food is very fresh and cooked well. Portions are obnoxiously small for the price. I ordered the halibut which was good but smallest piece of $ 27 fish i have ever had. That includes miami and Naples fl. My wine the cabernet was good, $ 9 for a glass. If you want an expensive delicious snack come here, if you want a filling dinner look elsewhere!

Had a nice dinner here while passing through for work. I had the chorizo panini and my sister had the burger. Everything was decent based on local standards but not exactly up to par for the price they are charging. I’ve had better paninis in Saint Paul for $ 6, but I know you’re paying for the«upscale» atmosphere. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to rag on the place, I just wished I knew what I was getting for plates that are a minimum of $ 15 and most are $ 30. It’s fine if you must eat in Plover.

This very lovely bistro was a delight to visit with a wonderful bar. Unfortunately being a vegetarian(not vegan) the only thing I could eat was a one of two meat free salads. I’ve been there on two occasions and both times there was misunderstandings with my meals and the staff could not seem to grasp No meat meant no meat. If you’re a veggie I’d consider another option.

Beautiful restaurant! Very classy, warm and inviting. Service was kind, attentive, knowledgable and courteous. Menu was easy to read and not too ‘out there’. Reasonable prices, great drink menu; you can even be sat overlooking the kitchen! The food was prepared with care, and lots of thought. We definitely will be back.

I never would have thought a place this good could exist in Plover! I wasn’t very hungry and expected I’d be taking most of meal home. I ordered the pepper-crusted sole, and once I took a bite I just wanted to shovel it all into my mouth… and I did. My friend had the gumbo appetizer and said it was one of the best he’s had outside of New Orleans(and he loves Cajun food, so he’s eaten a lot of gumbo), and the firecracker white shrimp which he said was excellent. For dessert he ordered two of the homemade sorbets — strawberry and kiwi. He said the combination was perfect as the strawberry was very sweet and the kiwi a bit sour, so either one alone wouldn’t have been as good. I had the homemade peppermint cheesecake which was very creamy and delicious. I come to Plover a few times a year to visit family and always struggle to find a decent place to have a meal. From now on I’ll look forward to eating at Christian’s.

We had an amazing dinner here. The service was super friendly and classy without being presumptuous. The cheese try was a nice treat for those of us visiting from out of state. They have a regular menu and another menu that changes daily. We will definitely be back again.

In short, the food is pricey(only when comparing to a chain establishment) but so well prepared and delicious you’ll be craving for more. I’ve found my regular spot in Plover, WI.

A true gem in central Wisconsin. There’s no other restaurant like Christians in the area. Everything is made with fresh, local ingredients. It’s a little on the pricey side, but well worth every penny.

Having grown up in Central Wisconsin, I know there’s a lot of good food, but few places of true excellence that large cities have numerous of. Christian’s Bistro is that place. The atmosphere is what you’d expect a bistro to be — busy and open. It’s a bit loud, but tastefully done and very much alive. There are«bar» seats that give you a front row view of the cooks making their art. I highly recommend a seat here. The organization and character of the cooks is fun to watch. The service was fantastic. Attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. But it’s food you come for, and wonderful food is what you get. The artisan cheese board is never a bad choice anywhere, and that includes here — great selection(I recommend the cocoa one if they have it). The chicken and sausage gumbo is amazing — rich, slightly thinner than gravy, and the perfect chocolate brown — it was true to style(and the ingredients were great too). My cedar plank ocean trout was one of the best seafood dishes I’ve had — similar to salmon, but better. It was buttery yet meaty, and the sweet woody cedar gave it the perfect touch. My mom had the Berkshire Pork, which was incredibly tender, while my dad’s piri piri sandwich was perfectly spicy and flavor packed. A truly delicious experience with great service. A place for a nice occasion without being stuffy. If you’re looking for a memorable dining experience while in humble Central Wisconsin, this is the place. PROTIP: Hit up O’so Brewing in the same shopping complex for a pre-meal drink. Lots of their own beers, plus numerous guest taps from around WI.

we went for lunch at 2pm on a weds so i feel lucky not to have been here on a busy time as it could be quite loud with those high ceilings. that’s a big beef of mine in San Francisco! they had étude pinot noir which is a delicious wine. very happy to see that California wine represented in the midwest! we had a cheese plate which was delicious even though they managed to burn the bread in spite of the fact that we were the only people in the restaurant… my friends had the pad thai. it had quite a kick so i was glad i was pointed in the direction of the opah. that dish was soooo good! i nearly ate the whole plate!!! it came with a pesto pasta that had bacon in the sauce. the fish was perfectly cooked and that sauce was off the chart good. i’d go back just for that dish!

Date nite for us. They made us wait about 15 minutes after we were seated. They were out of the appetizer we wanted. My fish was good, but my wife’s salad said feta cheese. There were two tiny crumbles that I guess were feta. Too small to get a good taste. When she complained,(and she NEVER does), the waiter said that it was good to know so he can let the chef know. And that was it. CYA, wouldn’t wanna be ya.

Date night! We sat at the kitchen bar and watched as all the food was prepared. A little loud overall but with just the two of us we could hear each other fine. The flatbread was very good– balanced flavors and crisp crust. The mushroom bisque was wonderful with gods overlapping flavors. My husband got the house salad lightly tossed in ranch with balsamic around. We both had steak medallions for our entrees, and could have split one– they were generous portions. Only one of the 4 pieces was very slightly over cooked. For dessert we shared the grasshopper torte which was absolutely heavenly. Overall a nice experience with great staff and great food! We will be back for the tasting menu on our next visit to the area!

This is a favorite local restaurant for a special evening out or a business lunch. The daily flatbread is usually worth a try. Sometimes things can be over seasoned, but usually everything is excellent! I would love to see chicken and waffles on the menu every month!

Christian’s is a gem. I travel to the area several times a year for business, and I make sure to visit every time. I have had nothing but excellent food every time. They can compete with any«big city» restaurant. Tonight I had the grilled Covina atop cheesy grits and a spicy crawfish cream sauce, with grilled broccoli. It was prepared perfectly, and the sauce brought the whole dish. One of my favorite parts is eating at the bar and watching the sous chefs prepare the meals. It is fun to watch you dish prepared and see the chefs at work.

I’m NEVER disappointed by the food at Christian’s Bistro… I’m a fan of ordering appetizers, salads and dessert. We like to skip the entrée round so that we can explore a wider range of items. Too often, we never save room for dessert otherwise. MY favorites include their gumbo and the flourless brownie sundae. The sundae is served with burbon ice cream and candied bacon. You’ll notice immediately that the dining room is noisy. Even with more than half the tables empty, the place is loud. I enjoy being able to see the chefs at work through the counter, tho. I recommend the cocktails here. Instead of using mixes, they do it from scratch with creativity, flair and flavor.
