Hair Exchange

This place is GREAT!
About 3 years ago, my NYC hairdresser, who I’d been seeing for over 10 yrs in her apartment (read: 3^rd floor walk-​up, no comfy salon chair, standing over a sink for washes and rinses) raised her prices from already way too high to utterly ridiculous. I started checking around and asked people whose hair I thought looked good where they go and what their salon charges. A client of Hair Exchange, who worked for one of my clients in NYC whose hair looked really good, recommended it highly. I work in the city but live in Riverdale so I made a Saturday morning apt and drove the 20 minute drive up. Best decision I ever made for my hair.
1) Lovely salon, nicely appointed and very relaxing atmosphere. Other clients are friendly (or won’t bother you if you prefer not to talk) and every time I go, I wind up having a great conversation with someone.
2) Pam immediately got me, understood what I wanted and suggested the color change I had been asking my previous hairdresser to do but was told it wouldn’t go well with my coloring. Surprise, surprise, Pam changed the color and the compliments still haven’t stopped 3 years later. We change the base color and the amount of highlights season to season.
3) Total cost, with tips, was literally ¹⁄₃ of what I had been paying before. Hmm, a nicer place, more convenient, my hair looks amazing and it costs a whole lot less. I’m beyond happy.
If you’re looking for a new salon, I totally recommend that you give this one a try.
And there’s a fabulous wine shop in the same strip…

Warm, friendly atmosphere and great cuts and color. You will feel like old frineds in no time.

Great place. Owners are friendly and make you feel very comfortable. Prices are reasonable.
