Keep passing this fruit stand but never stopped by. Glad I did… it’s a small fruit stand so you won’t get all your produce from here. but what they do have is great in taste and price. Jesus works the counter and is super friendly. The corn is from their Brentwood farm so you know it’s good. Price was even better then Safeway’s sale price. Definitely need to check them out before you head to the bigger produce place or Farmer’s Mkt. It is a CASH only location.

Love this place! Discovered it about two years ago, and it’s a refreshing flash from the past. And for townhouse/apartment dwellers with no good spot to grow much, it’s perfect. Much of the produce is grown right on site, on the several acre mini-farm. Almost everything is great, but I especially LOVE, LOVE, LOOVVVVEEEEE the tomatoes. Nothing like a fresh-grown tomato… deep red, full of flavor. The new on-the-vine crap at the store is little more than marketing. They rarely taste very good, and neither do most other regular store tomatoes. How can they, they have to engineer, pick, and store them so they last longest, which isn’t really in sync with preserving great taste. And finally, props to Jesse at the counter. He’s always friendly and knowledgeable. This is truly one of Pleasant Hill’s gems… and it’s only open a few months during summer every year, so enjoy while you can.

I stopped by this afternoon for Cherries and Tomatoes and was happy to see that the Watermelon was in. Sooo Good. I think I’ll go back tomorrow for some White Corn. The Peaches should be in next week, I can hardly wait.

My family has been shopping Mangini’s since I was 3, so there’s a lot of love for this farm stand. Unfortunately, I think there are plans to turn this fantastic, local food-source into more tract homes. Please get all the love you can from Mangini’s corn, melons, squash, beans and stone fruit before they get mowed under like the vineyard that is now the«Vineyard View» housing development on the opposite hill from Mangini.
