Arco Gas & Service Station Smog Pros

I will not return. The pump charge station wasn’t working and the attendant (owner) was beyond rude.

I have never dealt with someone so incredibly rude. Nothing even happened and he was already rude. He was so loud and had absolutely no customer service skills.
Went there this morning to get gas and a bottle of water and when I swiped my card he said is that a debit card, to which I replied yes. He yelled «I am sorry your card is declined,» I’ve been having problems with the swiper and I said may I swipe it again to which he yelled «No you may not! «I said okay and gave him another card. By the time I came back in there was an elderly lady in front of me and he was extremely rude to her too! I guess she was looking for someone specific and he was yelling at her to come back tomorrow. She asked if he would be here later today to which he again screamed «not today!» He then ripped off a receipt paper and threw it down at her and she said «what am I supposed to write on this?» He yelled «CALL BEFORE YOU COME» she rolled her eyes and left. Uh-​oh it’s my turn now, the phone was ringing and he dropped the phone and said «shit» so I swiped my card, paid, and left. No hello, no goodbye, no thank you have a great day. I will never be back to this gas station. I’d rather give my money to the gas station down the street. Fyi I checked my account immediately when I got back in my car and I have plenty of money in there.

Pumping gas is one of my least favorite things to do. This gas station makes it all the more inconvienient.
I can’t stand the way you have to pay at their ATM like kiosk thing. Then to top it off this particular station doesn’t take my company gas card. I came here in a hurry on my way somewhere else only to find out I had to get back in my car and drive to a different gas station. Wasting precious moments of my day, getting gas.
From now on if I even see that you can’t pay at your own pump I will not even glance at that station. And if this is something Arco does at all stations, I will not be going to any of them.

Horrible customer service!
I’ve had my car smogged here as well as gotten gas many times. The attendants are usually uninterested but one of them is just down right rude! He says he’s the manager too. He ended up yelling at me over asking a simple question.
I had stopped by after work to get gas and cigarettes. I popped inside to purchase my pack. Greeted the attendant and asked for a pack. He looked me up and down, asked for my ID (understandable, but I am 25 so come on) stared at the ID and me for a good minute, then asked me to recite my full name. I found this very strange and put me off. Been smoking for years and have never had that. I shrugged it off and went to pump my gas. But I was curious why he did that. So I poked my head in and asked if that was typical. I wondered if that was standard to every man or woman that buys cigs from him. I feel like its not. As I was asking this he became irate (and very sweaty, ew) he told me to leave and that I was rude. He mentioned that he was worried about fake IDs. Just gonna add in that I have one of the newer IDs that are basically copy proof. But even if it was fake I could still recite my name. So that makes no sense. I mentioned he may want to look into getting the black light to put IDs under like they use at bars or 7 – 11 if he’s highly concerned about fake IDs. But he didn’t like that idea apparently cause he was screaming at me. Very professional, not.
I guess curiosity, contributing ideas and wanting to be treated fairly killed the cat.

I went here to pump gas and there was a sign on the machine. It says «open from 6 am to 10 pm». I checked my watched and it was 9:50 pm. I got annoyed so I just went to work. The next morning, I went there again at 6:05 am and the machines are still closed! I wanted to beat the 680 traffic so I drove off. The following night I went there a bit early, 9:45 pm. Guess what? The machines are already closed! I was looking around for the attendant and they turned the lights off! HOW RUDE IS THAT??? Maybe the attendant’s watch is 15 minutes late in the morning and magically becomes 15 minutes advanced at night. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

I thought charging to use a credit card in CA is against the rules!!!

I was in town and needed to fill up before I got on the freeway. I put in my credit card, and began to pump gas. The pump clicked on and off about 7 times before a man came out of the office and offered to pump my gas. He said the pump was broken. I thanked him and waited for $ 50 to be pumped into my tank. He was done pumping my gas and let me know. I got into the car and just happend to look in my review mirror and noticed he was fiddling with the pump (latch that hooks for automatic pumping) and then I drove off WITHOUT A RECEIPT. I noticed about a week later they had charged my account $ 75. $ 25 MORE than they should have. I made numerous calls to the owner trying to rectify this problem. The «owner» was extremely rude and condescending.
I knew at this point I had no recourse because I have a RECEIPT. I tried contacting the police, I didn’t want anyone else to get taken simply because they had no receipt. Get this… I submitted a police report and it was DENIED. I wasn’t asking for the police to go there or complete an investigation but simply make a note of what happened just in case it happens again. I was so surprised that I couldn’t even get a report on file to document this scam. So, I hope people do read these reviews and maybe others will write about the scam this gas station has going on to rip people off of their hard earned money.

Gas. Everyone gets it. Most people need it to keep their cars running.
They are usually a 10 cents a gallon cheaper than the other four gas stations on the next block.

i was a regular patron at the Arco over a decade ago. surprised it’s still the same .
brand of gas now. stations have undergone name changes quite a bit during the last decade.
they are the cheapest then, not sure about that now.
the vehicle i was driving only uses 76 premium.

NOT the cheapest gas AT ALL. I don’t know why people would say that.
Today basic was 4.12 $, while at other places which doesn’t even charge a credit card fee, it was 3.97. Arco charges a huge (relatively speaking) 35cent credit card fee on top of that! Rotten Robby’s blows this place out of the water and is literally like one mile down the street.
Arco is owned by BP, btw, so you’re better off not giving them your money.

I went there for a smoke check today. This place is a joke!!! Do not take your care there for a smog check. $ 90 for a smog!!! Are you kidding! I got a smog check at the test only station for $ 36 total 3 miles away.

These guys are a total pain. I took my car to get a smog test here because it is close to my office, not because I live particularly close. I realized I was up on the deadline, so I forked out the usurious $ 70-​odd dollars for the test (not including the ~$ 10 for the certificate, when/​if it ever passes) rather than subject myself to a late fee on my registration. This was in June. Long story short, I took it back numerous times, and after about 6 – 700 miles of driving, trying to get it to pass smog. Each time, they said I needed to drive more because my monitors needed to reset. I took it to a trustworthy local garage, who verified with my auto manufacturer and thorough OBD scan that my monitors were set. Sadly, this was after my 30-​day free retest period lapsed and they had bilked me out of another $ 35 dollars for another month of frustration. My car is now into the highest bracket of registration lateness, and I have abandoned any hope of these guys ever passing my car. I am going somewhere else, somewhere reputable.

It was kinda confusing at first because the machine is not on the pump meter. It’s separated. Prices were okay. abit cheaper than Shell.

I left the Pleasant Hill house this afternoon and was heading to OAK to pick up my son. However, the «Empty» light came on and now was the time to buy gasoline. Arco was the closest gas station available, and it was a simple matter to pull in and fill up, and at a good price.
And yes, Arco is a BP brand. On one hand, the oil spill (and rig explosion that killed 11 people) is yet another in a series of BP negligence that includes the relatively recent Texas City Refinery explosion and the Alaska Oil Pipeline leak. Not only does BP’s CEO (and his predecessor) have a tin ear, but the safety and environmental protection culture is arrogant and broken. On the other hand we have had an incompetent Federal response, pathetic Administration leadership, Congressional hot air, and now an escrow account, that is nothing more than shameless political posturing and another corruption opportunity that crosses partisan lines. In the middle are hard working Gulf Coast residents, many of who have lost their fishing, tourism, oil drilling, and other livelihoods, and in 11 cases, their husbands and fathers.
The independent business person who owns this Arco is in the middle too. So although I won’t go out of way to buy gasoline at BP, I won’t be boycotting this hard working local merchant either.

Cheapest (I use the term loosley) gas I’ve ever seen in the Bay Area… even with the $ 0.45 debit card fee. They don’t accept credit cards so be prepared. The smogging is more like a flogging as they charge way more than several other places in the area. The offerings inside the little gas station are quite meager.
Lowest price gas in the area gets 5 stars in my book!
