Mo’s place is a hidden gem. Right next door to an Italian restaurant is the best Chicken Parmesan recipe you will find in Los Angeles. I am a first generation Italian from New York and I am writing this to tell anyone that Mo has this dish down better than any Italian joint I have been to this side of Texas. Enough said, treat yourself now, you will not be disappointed. Oh and the garlic bread is on point too! Last but not least they do not use any trans fat ingredients. Amen.

Best spot for Monday Night Football. Mo gets into disguise as a topical personality and hands out raffle prizes. Great atmosphere!

A consistent place of quality and great local community makes MOs the place to eat and cheer your sport teams. The steaks, burgers and fish reign primo. The drinks are strong and come with a smile. If you don’t do MOs, you’re missing out.

The place is like home: great cooking, friendly people, no «put-on» ambience. Generous«Happy Hour.» Yeah, the décor is that of a local«Cheers» type bar, but the service and food make up for the concrete floor and formica tables. The prices are low and the food is exceptional. Best calamari in town, just to name one offering. Thanks, Mo, Joel, and all the friendly folks who work there.

Mo love it! Please pull up some temp restrooms and gut the men’s bathroom. Haven’t seen the ladies’. Everyone loves a dive bar. but no one likes the permeating smell of 30 year old bathrooms. Fix it please!

Stumbled upon Mo’s with my SoCal friend after a long day in Malibu. The reviews seemed good, so we decided to give it a try. Unfortunately they were either recovering from a rough brunch or first football game because they did not seem to care about friendly service. It took about 10 minutes for anyone to even acknowledge we were at a table waiting for service. We ordered two beers(by the way, the beer selection is lacking) and were told she’d be right back to take our food orders. She didn’t seem panicked or rushed, just very mellow. Another 15 – 20 mins go by in which she attends to several other tables, including new ones, before coming back to see if we wanted food. I understand people are more laid back in California, but this seemed to be deliberate neglect. Especially because the service was nice at every other location we went to, including at the beach. At that point, we just decided to leave since there were other places nearby. I guess I can’t be too surprised since this place was allegedly the inspiration for Moe’s Tavern on the Simpsons.

Moe is quite the character! Literally, since Moe from the Simpsons is based on him. A solid little dive with pool and cheap drinks.

I like Mos. I like the food a lot I like the varied menu from simple bar food to sashimi and Cobb salads and lamb and filet. Mo oversees the menu personally and everything from pub grub to pretty high-end offerings never disappoint. I’m pretty picky about salad and I’d say the salad at Mos is as good as you’ll find at any high end restaurant. Presentation is top shelf. Dressings Fresh and tasty. Have known Mo since the DB cooper days in culver city. He’s the consummate host and cares about your well being. Staff is great. Janada. Jan Christiane. All of them. If you want good food, a fun wacky crowd, music and sports /pool go to Mos. Monday night football is a must see. This review should have been written a long time ago. Try the burger and the wings. Doorman is very cool too. I spend every bitthday at mos for at least a drink. New Years Eve in fact. People laugh at me for that but it’s tradition. Trust me. Keep your expectations low. It ain’t fancy but it’s homey and rib sticking Goodwin lots parking and plenty of room. Reminds me of mid west pubs that work hard d to put out a great menu with good ingredients but not brag about it. Love ya Mo! Alton too. Steve

This an outstanding local diner/bar! Fantastic service, solid and consistent menu, great vibe. I specifically love Christianne, Aden and Jan! I would come here just to see them. It is like the Cheers Bar of Playa! The Turkey sausage scramble was incredible as were the egg whites and avocado egg dish. The steaks here are also amazing. The owner Mo, is fun and inviting and makes everyone feel at home. Great spot to watch all sporting events(and family friendly to boot). Can’t wait to come back here(as my friends are already regulars)!

probably a 3.5. dive bar that serves decent food. my burger was pretty sloppy and under seasoned. i did really like my wife’s patty melt although it was pretty greasy. o-rings were good but also intensely oily. calamari was a big portion, crispy and plump. wings were pretty spicy but standard frozen. drinks were very stiff. 6 of us for dinner, probably 8 or 9 drinks and 2 apps was like $ 120 out the door.

There are good and bad things with this place. I once stopped by after work to watch football on a Sunday afternoon and was halfway through my first beer when the waitress made me get up because three people wanted my table. Even on other days when I’ve been here, the service has been spotty at best by the waitresses. The bartenders are normally very good, though. The greasy fried food is good and worth ordering. If you can get a table on Sunday morning, the mimosas are absolutely fantastic. They have a pool table and dart board, but they seem to want to cash in on how rare that is in Playa del Rey. To me, they are far too expensive to ever play. Overall, not my favorite place but not a place I’m opposed to going, either. I will admit the possibility that it’s only a place I go because there are so few options in PDR.

If you want a great family owned casual bar/restaurant with not only great drinks but also has an amazing menu!!! My boyfriend and I are here almost every night to cap off the busy workday. Come to Mos kick back and relax, or play some pool. It’s also in walking distance to the beach. mo“s is a diamond in the rough worth checking out !!!

Run down bar/under pool table storage. But the burger I had here was quite good. It was the best burger I’ve had since… my last best burger. Mo’s jalapeño burger. Also, the onion rings were really those old school onion rings with really crispy batter. Awesome place for lunch and probably dinner. I just don’t think I’d mix in with the dinner crowd here. Don’t mind the atmosphere. They have tvs.

This a terrific local hangout that has a pretty cool vibe so close to the ocean. They have pretty good food and beer specials and I’ve always had a fun time here whether watching a game or meeting friends for drinks. One of my favorite dive bars on the westside, you can come as you are and know you’ll have a great experience every time. On occasion, you can meet Mo and he’s really a character – in a good way. The staff and service are unpretentious and friendly. The clientele is interesting and diverse making the atmosphere chill. Parking can be tight at certain times, but I’ve always found a spot. Overall, they have great happy hour specials and it’s definitely worth the trip. :)

Great sports bar, especially for Monday Night Football. Get the nachos or chicken fingers. Both are great. Just leave before the post game antics(MNF). Owner Mo comes in dressed up as a figure/personality, and then mumbles on and on, mostly about things that are inappropriate and not funny. But on the other side, the prizes are fun. Great sports bar though.

It’s a lovely dive bar in quaint Playa del Rey. We were there with people who have been coming for years, so we may have gotten special treatment… Everyone was so nice and friendly, great service. Mo personally came to our table a few times to make sure we were happy. We had a great time! They bring beers in a ice bucket, which I thought was neat! And the bucket got replenished quite often. Good selection of draft beer also. Hubs got a pitcher of Guiness, which he was really happy about. When I go to bars, I usually like to stick to bar food. So we got Fish & Chips and Onion Rings to share. Onion Rings had ok flavor, but they were all stuck to each other, so it was kinda hard to eat. The chips part of the dish was meh, not much flavor. So I had low expectation for the fish part, but actually the fish was really good!!! Good flavor, perfect crunch on the outside, moist on the inside. I’d definitely get it again. All in all, good place to hang out with friends on a casual Saturday afternoon/evening. Easy parking, if you can find a spot in the lot in front. Otherwise, you might be circling around a few blocks looking for street parking. May not be a good place to go on a hot day. I don’t think they have air conditioning inside, or if they have it, it’s very weak. It felt pretty warm in there.

Sehr einfache, lockere und ehrliche Atmosphäre einer Sportsbar. Crazy Bedienung. Sehr nett. Klasse Bürger und Fish and Chips. Mo’s ist nicht weit vom Strand und ein echter Local Tipp. Ich hoffe ich komm noch mal wieder!

I love Mo’s and it’s a hot spot I go to frequently. Great service, awesome happy hour prices(All beers $ 3) and good food! I love the atmosphere and it’s a great place for watching sports. They will kindly change the channel if you want to watch your team. If you’re in Playa you must stop at Mo’s. No cheaper happy hour any where around. Two thumbs up!

We were visiting Playa Del Rey for my mother’s birthday, on our 1st night Hubby and I decided to venture out on our own. We had Unilocaled a few places within walking distance of the beach house we were staying at, and the closet place was Mo’s. Mo’s is a straight dive bar. Random stuff on the walls, mismatch table and chairs, staff are sweet but they look like they have had long lives. But unlike many Dive’s this place has some real food! Lamb chops, filet mignon, plus the bar specialties like chicken fingers and fries. And of course Hubby ordered a basket of fries and chicken tenders. Both very tasty! Overall a nice dive to hang out at! Be careful, that place gets packed to the brim!
