Living in Laguna del Rey was an amazing experience. The apartments themselves are beautiful with nice hardwood floors in the living room, new appliances in the kitchen, and large balconies. Additionally, if you are in the right spot you have an incredible view. The building has great amenities(gym, pool, bike storage, library, fax machine, etc.) and the staff is incredibly nice and responsive. I am extremely sad that I had to move from Laguna del Rey, but due to a new job and terrible commute I had to move. I couldn’t imagine a better apartment complex.

I highly recommend Laguna Del Rey! I wouldn’t ordinarily review an apartment complex but after reading some nightmare reviews of other Marina Del Rey/Playa Vista mega-apartment buildings, I felt compelled to add a review for anyone who is looking to move. I’ve lived here for 2+ years. Pros: — Top notch leasing office staff and maintenance staff. Maintenance crew are on-site daily and respond to maintenance requests next day. — Great location, close to Playa Del Rey«downtown» and a block from the sand. Tucked away so you don’t get traffic noise, and barely any LAX noise. — Heated pool and hot tub! — Plentiful washer/dryer units on each floor. Never had to go far to find an open washer/dryer. — The complex has 100+ units but it’s very spread out so it feels like a small community, not like one of those 400+ complexes where management doesn’t care about you. — Apartments and grounds very well-maintained and constantly being updated. Walls between apartments are thick enough that I barely hear any noise from neighbors through the wall. Cons: — Can be pricey, at ~$ 1800 for a 1bd 1 bath with only one parking space included, no view. — Street parking is not plentiful, visiting guests can usually find a spot but might have to park way up the street. Only ~5 guest parking spots with 4 hour time limit.

I moved into LdR in September 2009 and I LOVE this building. The managers are great, the entire staff attentive, and it is the best deal in Los Angeles considering the amenities and location. This is the best apartment living experience I’ve ever had in any city.

*** Cannot afford to buy an ocean view? *** Then I would ask«why not rent one awhile»? I did it. But caution: it can become addictive. I was to rent here for a 1yr only … I did 5yrs! Condos w/a view: about $½ million and up. Houses w/a view: about one million and up. And that is just for the smaller ones in(or near) this sleepy little beach community. So when I moved here in 2002, I rented a lil 1-bdrm for $ 1650. Today it’s $ 2400! That is how popular a beach view still is. It is rent controlled at least. Built in ‘70s. Additionally you get a lagoon and wildlife to stroll along(lagoon on W side and the wetlands on the east). Amenities include laundry rooms, pool, jacuzzi, weight room, reading room, and two sundecks that look over the marina and canal to ocean(perfect for watching fireworks & boat shows all year). It is a quiet neighborhood with friendly people. *** Cons: price, airplane noise and no pets. ***
