This place just seems to get worse and worse every time I’m here. She keeps wanting to come back, but I could take it or leave it. The last two times I’ve tried the sushi it’s been warm. Yuck All in all a bad experience, slow service, and food that does not make up for the poor experience. not one of my favorite places to go. Too many other good places to go within walking distance

Tried this place a few nights ago. The Chinese/Japanese dishes were good but the sushi was horrible. I could not even finish my roll(Spicy Baby Roll) and that’s a first. The fish was not fresh at all and you could tell when it hit the table. We also order the Rainforest roll because of all the pictures on Unilocal but that was a fail also. 2 stars because their salt & pepper ribs and tofu platter were good.

I love Umeko! Everyone here is super friendly. The sushi rolls are always great and there’s an awesome variety. My husband love the California roll. My personal favorites are the Sundae Roll, Rainforest Roll and the Alaskan Roll. Plus it’s in a great location. There is a streetlight being put in right next to them which will make getting in and out even easier. They are also great for to-go meals!

I live so close to this restaurant I don’t know why I never came sooner! I always drive by on my way home and I finally saw this pop up on my Unilocal. So I gave it a try. I love how they do a combination of Chinese food and Japanese food. Even though it is a combination one would think they would lack quality in one of the areas, but that is not the case. We ordered from both menus and it was 5 star quality. The staff is friendly and we were sat immediately by the owners with a big smile and a generous greeting. We were severed water immediately while we looked over the vast menu. The décor is a nice modern contemporary design. As for the delicious food we had the honey walnut prawns. I loved this dish. I ordered it with light mayo. because I didn’t want it drenched with mayo where I couldn’t taste the flavor of the shrimp. It is perfect this way. The prawns are a good juicy size with a slight crisp. There are honey walnuts on top of it and it had a great nutty balance to the meal. Very delicious. We also had the Caterpillar Roll. Great presentation and it came out pretty quick. Came with eight pieces. The rolls had fresh ingredients. I loved the fresh thin cut avocado, crunchy cucumber, and unagi(eel). Very well made roll. Lastly, the Sizzling Tofu Platter was perfectly seasoned. Loved how it came out sizzling(since the title) It was topped with a mushroom sauce. Lots of flavor not too salty and paired great with white rice. The portion size was enough for about 2 people. It had more of a soft tofu consistency instead of the firm ones. I would visit Umeko again. 5 stars for service, food, and ambiance. Oh and if you come on Sunday they have 50% off select sushi rolls! What a great deal!

Umeko, how you have failed me. They follow the law of diminishing returns. The first time we came back, we ordered the shrimp tempura bento box. It came with 4 tempura, assorted veggie tempura, potstickers, egg rolls and cali rolls not to mention soup and salad. The next time we went there, we ordered the same thing. Except now there were no egg rolls and no potstickers. Shrimp count remained the same. I asked what happened to the potstickers and eggrolls, they said it was not supposed to come with it.(although the menu said so). The third time we went there the shrimp got reduced to 3. Im not gonna wait till it becomes 2. I do want to make them a regular restaurant but not with those inconsistencies.

While the name says«Sushi & Grill», the restaurant is definitely more than that. This place is actually known for it’s authentic Chinese/Taiwanese dishes. I have been coming here ever since it opened in 2007. We love the food and the environment is very clean and nice. My family and I love this place and we grew very close to the staff and the owners of this restaurant. I definitely recommend coming here! Some of our favorite dishes are: FIVEFLAVOREDSQUID –this is a simple squid appetizers with a sweet and fruity sauce on it. THREE-CUPCHICKEN — A taiwanese staple dish. They do this dish very well.(if you don’t like chicken, there are many three-cup options such as tofu, squid etc) BEEFWITHSATAYSAUCE — This sounds like a modified/westernized chinese dish but it is a pretty authentic dish. The beef is stir-fried with chinese water chestnut in a savory satay sauce. STEAMEDCODWITHTAIWANESETREESEED — This is done very well. the cod usually has the perfect amount of lean and fat portions. FRIEDSHRIMPWITHWALNUTSINMAYONNAISE — This is a total guilty pleasure. the shrimps are huge.

There are some bad reviews here, but we have always enjoyed our visits. The sushi and some of the menu items have been delicious. We’ve been back several times and plan to continue again. No issues with any of their sushi not tasting good or not being fresh, as far as raw fish, and the hot pepper chicken is a staple for our family every time we go.

This is my favorite Chinese restaurant that only has one restaurant. Amazing food! I recommend trying the sesame chicken with the egg/chicken fried rice. Really good! Btw the sodas are in cans so you have to pay for refills for soda. But for tea and water you get free refills. I totally recommend this to anyone who wants high quality Chinese food.

My husband and I tried this place located in the Asian food center of Legacy. We ordered salmon sashimi, white tuna sashimi, and two rolls. The salmon and white tuna sashimi were not fresh and had a foul smell. The rolls had so much spice that it masked the funky flavor enough to be palatable, though we could only bring ourselves to have a couple pieces. We sent the two sashimi orders back after trying one piece but they would only remove one sashimi order from our bill. We happily paid for the rest and left hungry. We love sushi and this location is convenient for us, but we won’t be coming back.

I came here for lunch with a coworker a few weeks ago. It was pretty empty, but that might have been because we came in before the lunch rush. The service was prompt. We got 3 rolls – 2 salmon avocado and 1 tuna avocado, and they were good. I would have given 4 stars, but we actually ordered 5 rolls and were only given 3. We were never charged for the missing rolls, so it wasn’t a big deal, but the waitress somehow just got our order wrong. Other than that, I did enjoy lunch here.

Great food and friendly staff. I sat at the sushi bar and was greeted by the chef. He made a recommendation to try the Sunday Roll. It was delicious! He also gave me a taste of Salmon Belly and I loved it. The service was great and the selection was impressive. My order came out within minutes. They have a full bar as well. I am happy to have this restaurant in my neighborhood and I will be back again.

We were headed to the Asian market nearby and had to park on the other side of Umeko. Walking past the windows, the food on everyone’s tables looked soooooooooooo good and fresh! We ended up coming in for dinner, mixing our plan to cook My mother’s Sesame Shrimp at home. The sushi was fresh and delicious! We had the spicy tuna, rainbow roll, and rainforest roll for sushi– fresh and spicy! Finished off dinner with chicken fried rice that tasted like my mom’s! Oh it was mouth watering! I will be back here ALOT!!! Next up– soft shell crab roll and a Taiwanese dish!

Ain’t gonna lie the parking on the weekend is pain in an ass. But the food is good. Sashimi is way much better than zenna. The Taiwanese dish was on point. If you not an asshole( Unilocal elites) please ask for the off menu items. Don’t complained about the price. They don’t have groupon deals. Other wise go to the market next door. Me and my my side chick rack it up $ 250 for a dinner.(Cuz we ball like that) Over all this place is chill, food is good, services is good and side chick is happy.

I more than feel badly about convincing the hubs to stop in for lunch when we were both craving teriyaki. Although we’ve driven by Umeko many times, today was our first time to give it a try. He ordered chicken teriyaki; I ordered beef teriyaki. And since we sort of have a thing for Ahi Tower, we decided to try that as well. The teriyaki was fine, nothing special. The chicken in particular had very little flavor outside of the sauce — I’m used to very tender and juicy chicken when it’s grilled properly. The Ahi Tower tasted very fishy — the first time I’ve ever had it with such a strong fish flavor, which made me feel like it was perhaps not the freshest fish. While we were given water immediately after being seated, we waited for 10 minutes before anyone asked if we were ready to order. Important note: There were only two other patrons(at one table) in the restaurant at the time. I don’t mind being given plenty of time to order, but that was excessive, particularly when we’re sitting with our menus closed and staring around — obviously ready to order. But what’s really odd, completely inconsistent and slightly offensive is the speed at which your check arrives — and is collected — when you put your chopsticks down after eating.

Came here for lunch with two friends and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Over all the food is good especially the Chinese dishes, the sushi is okay, I had the grilled salmon volcano roll(it was mehh). The bento boxes are pretty big so if anything on the bento book sounds good to you and you’re craving that I would go for it. This is the only place in Dallas I know of that does the ketchup fried rice. It’s really good here, the shrimp are large, the portion is a big and very filling as well as tasty. Service was good, waiters were attentive but not over bearing. Will be coming back whenever I’m in the area.

I’ve come here twice for take out sushi. Pros– very fresh. Pleasant looking food. Clean restarunt. Timely service. Cons– I didn’t really know what to order. I asked«what rolls on this menu have no raw meat?», and they did not answer or help, so I just read some items off the menu and hoped for the best.

As long as you come with realistic expectations for a Taiwanese restaurant that also serves sushi and dishes from other regions of China, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. Had dinner with a friend, splitting an order of avocado sushi, dumplings, and Shredded Pork with Dry Bean Curd(trust me… way better than it sounds). All three were delicious, especially the last one! Thin strips of pork and dry tofu, not too sauce heavy but definitely flavorful. The dumplings didn’t taste frozen(I guess you can never be sure), and they were juicy on the inside and slightly fried on the outside. The avocado sushi was one of the better ones I’ve had(my personal favorite since I don’t like seafood), but as I don’t eat seafood I’m clearly not the most reliable judge of good sushi! If you order what the restaurant specializes in(Taiwanese/traditional Chinese entrees), you’re good to go but veering from that path may prove risky.
