This is my third time getting my hair cut at the Styling Hutch and each time I’ve had a different stylist — they’ve all been great! The ouidad cut is an investment in terms of cost, but I’ve never been more confident or comfortable in my curls. Lily just did my hair and was great; she understood what I was looking for without much instruction. Highly highly recommdend this salon!

I can not say enough great things about this salon and the lovely people that work there. You get southern hospitality, a trait that many salons are lacking along with stylists that know about CURLYHAIR! For the first time in 31 years I can say I love my hair. Lill was amazing she was sweet, understood what I was trying to say when I was even confusing myself. My sister and I went in together and even though the looks we wanted was similar she was able to give us each a unique look while respecting the ideas we wanted for ourselves. She gave us several helpful hints and showed us how to style our hair so that we could recreate the look at home. I have never been so pleased with any service of any kind in my life! Thank you Lill and everyone else. I will be back as soon as I need anything that involves another person touching my hair.

I love this place. My mother was the only one I have trusted to cut my hair and I was ready for a drastic cut. I have been here three times and I have never been disappointed. They definitely know how to take care of my curls.

**Edit** I called up the salon asking about a refund on my barely colored locks and was pleased to be given to the owner, Claudia. She was more than happy to take a look at my color herself and wanted to make sure there wasn’t something she could do to improve it. To my surprise, she was willing to make an appointment with me after hours and work the color to my liking. Great lady, fantastic personality and a true people pleaser. She’s fantastic at what she does and I fully appreciate her patience with me and willingness to make it right. Thanks so much Claudia. I’ll be visiting you again for my color in the future. I visited the Styling Hutch today as a treat/gift from my husband. He surprised me by making an appointment for me to experience receiving a cut from a real professional of curls. In the past, walking into a salon for a haircut usually meant snipping at my ends or in some cases lopping my hair off at one length and having a stylist armed with a straightener to «complete» the look – minus my curls. I’d read a little about the«Ouidad» haircuts and was more than excited about finally getting my locks in the hands of a REAL curly hair professional. The experience was great, my stylist was friendly and service was fantastic, however, I can’t seem to understand the significance between having my hair cut here versus the usual Ulta-type salon. I hate to sound as if I am bashing their expertise, but I felt like I walked out with a cut I could have received for half the price elsewhere. What I *thought* I was paying for walking into the Styling Hutch was someone with complete knowledge and artistic license to create a cut perfect for me. I said up front I was more than willing to take off some length – my hair was/is pretty long. What I received was great, however, it just looks like a more tamed version of what I walked in with. For $ 105 I thought I’d walk out with a great, new, stylish look. I also had a color service for another $ 100. Not worth it. I went in originally wanting Ombré and learned, once there, that it would cost a whopping $ 100/hour. I was appreciative that my stylist told me the cost before ever attempting that because I don’t know what I would have done if I found out at the end it was much above $ 200. My stylist seemed knowledgeable and seemed to have a good way around doing ombré. Once my hair was done and I was able to take a better look at it it wasn’t immediately obvious I’d had any kind of dye put into my hair. She insisted the lighting wasn’t the best and I gave her the benefit of the doubt and walked out happy and figured maybe I’d see it better in natural light. I got home this evening and I see a total of a few strands with a red tint. I have to physically lift a layer of my hair to see any kind of color – it being down and natural how I’d wear it on a daily basis hides the color completely. I was informed I could return for a color fix if I still wasn’t happy with it in a week. I’m reluctant to go back because I don’t want to spend another several hours sitting and IF it didn’t turn out then it will have been time wasted. Overall, friendly, professional service. I did a learn a few new tricks to turning out nicer curls, but I’m not so sure it was worth the hundreds of dollars spent.

I scheduled an appointment at the Styling Hutch because of all the great reviews. I have never had a Quidad cut and thought it would be great for my naturally curly hair. When I sat down with Kari and talked about how I’d been having my hair cut and what I thought I’d like, she told me that she didn’t think the Quidad cut was for me. That was a shock, but as she described a number of things I didn’t know it made perfect sense. How honest is that?!! I was very grateful and the curly cut she gave me is FANTASTIC. Also she introduced me to the Quidad products — they are the best. Next time I’m visiting Dallas The Styling Hutch will be my first stop! Thank you again, Keri.

I’ve been getting the Ouidad cut at The Styling Hutch for years and they are fantastic! I recently told Diane I was thinking of adding pink highlights to my dark hair and she found great examples of how it would look and stayed late to make it right. She is awesome and I love my pink curls!

I have very fine hair, mostly waves and loose curls. Every stylist I’ve been to has handed me a straightener. I want to embrace my natural texture but it’s hard when it’s already so damaged from years of trying to cover it up. Had a consultation with Jami. She was very honest and told me exactly what I needed, a little health trim. She didn’t try any annoying upsales or anything like that. I could tell that she really had my best interest at heart. It’s rare to find a stylist like that much less someone who is knowledgeable in your hair type. She gave me some really helpful pointers on how I should be caring for my hair. I left with beautiful natural air-dryed waves with the only product being leave-in conditioner. I have yet to notice any frizz. I never knew a cut could make all the difference. It’s 2 days later and I’m getting tons of compliments on my hair. The best part is I literally have no daily maintenance any more. «I woke up like this.» :)

Claudia is the best hair dresser in the City of Plano. I don’t even live in Plano and go to her. I’ve known her since 1997 and you will not find a better stylist. She has the best customer service and work ethic. She spends time actually talking to you while you are getting your haircut. She doesn’t spend time texting, checking her phone or talking to every other stylist in the salon. It’s you she focuses on. If you are looking for a fantastic stylist, look no further! Call and book an appointment with Claudia.

Finally!!! I have been searching for a hair salon that caters to curly hair. And I’ve found it! I can’t tell you how many times I have walked into a salon and my stylist looks terrified haha. That was totally not the case with Kelly. She was attentive and confident and made my experience personal. She validated how alienated I have felt in the past and whipped my curls into shape! I left with a bounce in my step and on my head… Cheesy as that sounds The place is nothing fancy, but don’t let that fool you or deter you. The stylists here know what they are doing. I have officially found my permanent salon! Thank you hair gods!

I really enjoyed my time at styling hutch. This was my first time using this salon. I had Michelle as my stylist. She was friendly and professional. My hair came out great. I would definitely go back.

I received my first haircut with Claudia, the owner, in January 2014. I’ll definitely return. Claudia put me at ease and listened to me. She didn’t assume she knew my hair better than me and even asked me questions since my hair behaves differently than hair she has previously worked with. My hair is medium to tightly curly and alternates between smooth and shiny to frizzy and kinky. I also have a LOT of hair and my strands are coarse and don’t do well with a lot of product applied to it. I am always nervous about first haircuts and have had horrible experiences when getting haircuts with new stylists. Claudia was calm and great at what she does. She explained why she cut my hair the way she does and asked me about the products I use. I highly recommend her!

I’m pretty picky about my hair; so much so that in the six years I’ve lived in Plano, I haven’t been to the same hair stylist twice. That is, until yesterday. I found The Styling Hutch via Groupon. I have relatively wavy hair and I thought it was pretty neat that there was actually a salon that specializes in curly hair. I had no idea such a thing even existed. I opted for a shampoo, oil treatment and cut/style and made an appointment with Diane. The staff was very welcoming and hospitable, offering me something to drink even though there was no wait. Diane promptly came over and we got started. She was very receptive to what I wanted and made some really great suggestions that actually turned out fantastic. She gave me some helpful tips on getting the most out of my waves, but didn’t try to upsell me on a bunch of products I don’t need. I’m usually very hesitant to trust a new hair stylist because I’ve had a few really bad ones. Diane is the opposite of that. She’s AMAZING. I can’t remember the last time my hair looked this good! If you have curly hair, wavy hair or even stick-straight hair, go see Diane. She’s the only one who is allowed to touch my hair from now on!

When my former stylist moved to another state, I worried about finding someone who could cut curly hair as well as he did. After a couple of disasters, I found Mimi at the Styling Hutch. What a relief to walk in and see curly hair in its natural state. Mimi listened to me and my hari and gave me a great cut. I have been back three times now, and each time is better than the last.

The results from my last two visits, and in particular the last visit three weeks ago have caused me to rethink my return to salon. While I did love previous cuts, this last cut is not consistent with prior cuts and the color jobs(two) were either the right color but color kept coming out in shampoos with expensive sulfate free shampoo or the color stayed in well but wasn’t the tone or depth I asked for in the end result. Fair price or not, I regret spending money on something I’m not happy with. And this last cut was a bit different and I’m not happy and will be looking to have certain sections reshaped to give me look I typically like. I do not feel comfortable complaining to salon or stylist, as my first complaint ever with regard to color continually washing out and leaving my towels dyed led to what was a ‘redo’ that I had to pay half price for. I could go into great detail about my feelings and concerns, but what matters is that I am going with my gut and looking for/tentatively found another option for cut. And I may just continue to color my own hair as I actually get better results when I do it myself… it’s just a pain in the neck to color my own hair. I should have said no to paying anything for the color redo. But I was in a good mood that day and my instinct is to always be nice and agreeable to someone as nice as my stylist there. But, I feel I wasted my money on both color jobs. And if that were then only regret I would likely continue to go to SH, but I have not liked this last cut and how my hair styles/looks/lays and that just puts me over edge a bit.

I got my hair cut at The Styling Hutch a week and a half ago. Tyciana cut my hair. She did an amazing job. I left the salon loving my new haircut. But, I feel like the real test is in the days after a new cut when I do it myself. I am still just as pleased. Tyciana did a great job cutting, but also a great job explaining what she was doing and what would work on my hair as far as technique and styling. She is super knowledgeable about curly hair. I highly recommend Tyciana!

I went to The Styling Hutch yesterday and had my hair cut by Gabriel. He did a great job. I was a stylist for 12 years and he cut my hair the way I would have if I could have taken my head off and cut my hair myself. His shampoo was great and he had a very nice demeanor. The salon itself could use some tlc. For what they charge I was expecting a bit more upscale. I strongly suggest you spend the extra money to purchase whatever product they use to style your hair. With curly hair, your final results are part cut and part product. Will go back for sure.

I went to the styling hutch today for the most expensive haircut I have ever gotten. I showed up exactly 15 min late due to an accident on the highway during rush hour traffic. Mimi was my stylist… She asked me a few questions then proceeded to give me the worst haircut I’ve ever had in my entire life. Not only does the actual cut that I paid 105 dollars for look bad… but she actually mostly cut my hair dry. She did some of the Ouidad technique toward the end. She acted like since I was 15 min late she couldn’t give me the time I deserved. Her next client(after me) actually didn’t even stay and get her hair done. Mimi took me out from under the dryer and applied the pomade before my hair was even actually dry. When I left my curls looked terrible. I figured maybe the cut was good and she just did a bad styling job or the products didn’t agree with my hair. I came home and re-styled my hair myself… and I now have a head of unhappy 3c curls. :( I’ve had haircuts that cost me 25 bucks turn out better… I’m not a happy camper and I will not be back.

I live in Houston and have tried a plethora of hair salons since my last stylist moved away. After multiple disappointments, I’ve finally found a stylist to cut my fine and thin(yes fine AND thin!) curly hair… Jennifer. After she introduced herself, the first thing she said was«tell me about your hair.» Do you know how rare it is to have a stylist ask that? I’m not kidding… every previous person has interrupted me or blatantly ignored me when I tried to explain how my hair operates or how I wanted it cut. Jennifer met and surpassed my expectations for a stylist. She clearly knows what she’s doing and made me feel like she understood what I was saying and how to deal with my hair. I couldn’t be more pleased. On top of that, she didn’t try to push any products on me. I’ve been wearing my hair curly for about 13 years now and I know quite a bit about products and what works for my hair. I felt like she and I were on the same page about everything. I ended up purchasing the small bottle of the climate control gel, since I liked the look of her styling my hair with it and I wanted a change from my regular sculpting foam by Paul Mitchell, which can be a bit heavy. Great stylists are very hard to find. I’m jealous of those who live in Plano since it’s so convenient for them to pop in, but considering that haircuts only happen a few times a year it is WORTH the drive!(It helps that I make trips to the area 2 – 3 times a year anyway.) I cannot recommend Jennifer enough.
