Yummy pizzas and nice, stout drinks at a great price. Bright shining star during this visit was the hot pretzel — WOW was it excellent! Big, thick twists of tasty bread, great dip, cooked to perfection. Our server was knowledgeable and accommodating. Pizza is thin crust, my companion thought it was tough and not tasty; I liked it just fine and would order the pizza again. Great atmosphere.

We’ve been here twice now. So far we’ve had The Farmers Pie with added perperoni and The All-American pizza. They are both made with thin crust, local farm ingredients and are very delicious. We shared the stag salad which was very good does it have lots of added bacon type pieces. And chased it down with a shiner bock type draft beer.

I was excited to try Taverna Rossa based on the Unilocal reviews, and since I usually eat Mexican when visiting Dallas, Italian was a nice change of pace. We were seated at a bar table in the back area of the restaurant that almost looks like it should be an outside patio. As a side note, we noticed pretty quickly that the area we were seated in can get loud if there’s a rowdy bunch of post-workday happy hour goers at the next table. While browsing over all of the menu items, I came to the realization that I wanted to try every single appetizer. I held back, but went ahead and ordered a couple as my entrée. I was originally going to go with both the Homemade Dips and the Warm Pretzel, but our waiter Garreth kindly advised against it, since he said it might be a bit too much bread. He suggested subbing one of the bready appetizers for Stuffed Goat Cheese Mushrooms instead. I’m happy he did because they were fantastic. The dips/spreads were also really good. One dip was pimiento cheese with roasted chilies & cheddar, and the other was goat cheese with lemon basil & almonds. JW ordered the goat cheese and fig pizza was downright amazing. It had a fig drizzle on top instead of the standard fig compote as the base, which was just the right amount of sweetness. While we were sitting at the bar table our fabulous waiter Garreth saw that my napkin had been dropped. Without me even noticing yet, he brought over a new one. I’ll definitely be back to Taverna Rossa, and hopefully next time, I’ll leave room for dessert.

Our first visit here was after a series of what was beginning to feel like endless disappoints. Our journey started at CPK, only to encounter a ‘CLOSED’ sign. Our pizza cravings would not be denied as we carried on to Goodfellas, but alas, our taste buds were crushed as 60 soccer players had taken over the restaurant without calling ahead. After 30 minutes of waiting for water, we hopelessly traversed onwards to the glory that is Taverna Rosa. We returned for a second visit today and I’m happy to share my original joy gained from the pizza’s light flaky crust and sweet red sauce was legitimate and untainted by my starving belly. Nice sized patio with seating overlooking a pond. Solid rotating beer collection with friendly staff. Definitely not your everyday joint as the pizzas run $ 15+, but a worthy treat when craving dough(or when no other joint will serve you in a timely fashion).

Only reason for 2 stars is the ambience. Otherwise it should be 1* That was good. Pizza was meh. also service was slow and lot of mistakes. They gave wrong pizza to 1 in our group and we didnt know. The person ate a bite of the pizza and they came and said oh, this is your pizza and gave the eaten pizza to other person in group. Bad service. Also loooong wait to get leftover pizza boxed, checks issued and return our credit cards. It took 30+ minutes to get half of things done and restaurant was not busy. I most probably wont go bad. Also we saw a lunch special sign of salad+pizza for 9.95 after we placed our orders. We werent told about it. Ended up spending $$ for mediocre pizza

Smokey pie with goat cheese and the moscow mules are the reasons to keep coming back here. They have some great salads but they used to have some seasonal salads and specials they took off the menu which was a disappointment. Good place to have larger groups or parties.

I went here expecting an awesome experience due to all the awesome reviews and pictures posted on Unilocal. We were seated right away which was great, and the atmosphere was quite nice. While we were waiting on our waitress, we glanced around at what the people around us had ordered and it looked great! Once we had decided what we wanted for appetizer and as a main course, the waitress told us that the Goat cheese stuffed mushrooms could not be made without sausage, which is understandable. So we decided to get the spreads as an appetizer, and the Goat cheese and fig pizza as our main dish(without meat). When we received our appetizer 20 minutes later, it had a great presentation, so we eagerly tried it, both the goat cheese and pimiento spreads had NO flavor. It was just like what you can buy at the grocery store. So we were hoping that the Pizza would redeem the experience… 15 minutes later, we receive it. It looked exquisite, straight out of a cookbook picture. So we tasted it and it too was flavorless. The flavor of the figs was so bland, the only thing that had flavor was the balsamic on top, which was too sweet. Unfortunately, the entire experience was sub-par. We most likely will give it a second chance one day because we could have ordered the wrong things, but no time soon.

I really wanted to like this place, but I couldn’t help but be disappointed by how much the flavor lacked in everything :( We were interested in the stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer but had to settle for the«dips & spreads»(which still sounded appealing) since the mushrooms as «pre-made» and cannot be served meatless. The goat cheese spread was nothing special, in fact, it tasted nothing like goat cheese(I never in my life considered adding salt to goat cheese until I tried this spread). And the pimento cheese was irrelevant and tasted typical of the packaged kind from the grocery store. But we stayed hopeful and waited for our Goat and Fig pizza. As beautiful as it was, once again the goat cheese was completely bland and the figs were just a texture on a crispy pizza. We ended up eating one slice each and boxing it to go(we thought we could spruce it up at home and add our own ingredients to make it have flavor… which defeats the purpose of eating at a restaurant) The service was good but a bit slow The atmosphere and ambience was an A+(that’s why I rated it 2 stars) I wish their food had more flavor but I can’t say I’ve ever seen such amazing ingredients taste so bland Not sure if I’d come back but I believe in second chances :)

Great spot for lunch! Located in the cute little center by weirs and a multitude of other restraints. They have a great lunch special that’s $ 10 for a side a salad and a personal sized pizza which can definitely fill you up! For the pizza I got the Arvina Bianca and I thought it was delicious! The pizza is definitely more on the greasy/oily side, but the flavors were great. I love white based pizzas over red sauce. It came with onions, bacon, and a mixture of mozzarella and provolone cheese. Yum! It was also a nice thin crusted pizza so it had a nice crunch to it.

This is a great place to check out if you want some good pizza and good drinks. Service was really good as well, and I’ll definitely come back. We were a big group, and they were able to seat us right away. We came before peak hours. If you want a good cocktail, moscow mules are really good here. They are a little pricey though($ 10). We started off with the hummus which comes with carrots, cucumbers, pickled green beans and garlic bread. The garlic bread was very flavorful, and the hummus was really good. We wanted to try a variety of pizzas, so we were able to split a pizza with 2 kinds. We ordered the farmhouse, supreme, chicken and steak. The farmhouse and chicken were among my favorites. Pizzas are big enough to split between people. I like this restaurant and will definitely come back.

We had our company year-end party here in December(82 people) and I can’t say enough about the job they did! Everyone raved about the food, drinks and atmosphere. We never came close to running out of awesome food, and the drink selection was fantastic. Prior to the event, they were extremely easy to work with and made sure that everything went smoothly. This was already one of my favorite places to take the family!

I really like the atmosphere here and the food is really good. We stopped in for dinner last Sunday night and they were pretty busy. My husband and I ordered a drink from the bar. He ordered a beer(pretty easy) and I ordered a Rossarita. After about 5 minutes, the waiter informed us that they had just come off a 2 hour wait and the bar was backed up. We waited another 10 minutes before getting our drinks. When it was time to order, I asked for the hummus but was told they had just run out. We ended up getting a pizza and shells and cheese. Both items were really good.

This place hadn’t been on my map, but it is now. My office was hosting some visitors from out of town, and we did an impromptu lunch with a party of about 12 on a Wednesday at about 11:30AM. The crowd was very light, so we were seated right away. Drink orders were taken and delivered, all soft drinks and water, because, business lunch in the 21st century. One of our visitors ordered Killer TX Sausage Queso for the table, and wow, what a delight! It was a deliciously spicy, thick-but-still-scoopable concoction, with a good dose of tasty sausage. This would rival the queso at most Tex-Mex restaurants. It was served with clearly from-the-bag Fritos Scoops, but there’s nothing wrong with that, they were the perfect accompaniment. Definitely a «killer» appetizer. My main dish was an original supreme pizza, subbing green olives for black olives. It was about a 10″ pie, served on a thin and crispy crust, with a wonderful golden brown edge. The toppings were plentiful but not overdone, resulting in a piece that could be picked up and eaten without much fuss, or devoured with a fork if you prefer it that way. It was delicious in every way. I’ll definitely be back here to try some of the other pies; if this one was any indication, I’ll surely be pleased.

Sometimes I need multiple friend recommendations to get me to try a new place — that was definitely the case with Taverna Rossa. It looked like it had a cool vibe from the outside, but we didn’t know if the food would match the location. We sat in the bar on a Sunday afternoon and had the pleasant surprise of having the chef act as our server. The bartender, who normally would be on shift, was out that day. There’s nothing like having the chef give you dinner recommendations! So we started with the dinner salad. Homemade croutons FTW! Then we split the original supreme pizza. The crust was incredibly tasty(Taverna Rossa obviously excels in bread products) and the toppings were very fresh. But desserts are where we went completely overboard and I totally blame the chef. I told my husband that I was full and it would have to be a world-changing dessert to make me eat anything more. The chef heard that and said he had the perfect things for us to try. The salted caramel bread pudding, he said, was inspired by the memory of eating his grandma’s kugel during Passover. .Gosh. It did in fact taste just like kugel which is only my absolute favorite thing on the plate at Passover. We only ate a couple of bites — and all of the accompanying Henry’s Ice Cream — before packing it up to take home. He recommended that we fry it up the next morning as French toast. FYI… that was an excellent(and tasty) suggestion. My husband couldn’t resist the chocolate stout cake — a very moist and tasty cake made with lots and lots of chocolate and stout. Again, we ate a couple of bits and all of the Henry’s ice cream and took the rest home. It came with candied bacon as well. In my mind, this was a little over the top but my husband loved it. Must be a guy thing. It was definitely a great meal and a nice place to eat slow, while enjoying the afternoon.

We came here on Halloween with friends to have some food and listen to the last performance of local band Buster Brown. I was worried about soming here as I picked the spot and had never been. I am so glad we came. After a long wait(everyone was watching the band understandably) we got a table and our server greeted us with a smile. We ordered the buffalo shrimp as an appetizer. They were large shrimp dipped in buffalo sauce with blue cheese for dunking. They were delicious and spicy but I wish they gave you more. For entrée we ordered the Real Roman pasta and the Steakhouse pizza. Both were so flavorful and different and even good fr leftovers the next day. Perfect spot for a date night or to bring friends!

Make no mistakes… cause that’s what happened here! Not one mistake in our large party was made! For several of us, it was our first time out at Taverna Rosa and I must say I believe all of us will back! Our server Mike was awesome! He did a fantastic job of making sure we had everything we needed. The number one thing I always ask a server is whats the best thing on the menu, with no hesitation he recommended the Wings. And boy, he was not lying. 3 orders of wings came from our tabel and they where down to the bone good. I asked for them to throw the wings on the grill to give them an extra crisp because they bake their wings! They said sure, and before you know it, the bones is all she wrote!!! Mike suggested their food specials of the day! All of them sounded amazing. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms, mac and cheese with grilled chicken topped on, 3 different pizzas(which by the way was sooooooooooooooo fantastic –amazing crust) pasta and shrimp! OMG is so ALL good. That’s how you know you can’t go wrong here. Each item was perfect, hot, and tasted finger licking good! LOL. Thanks for the great service!

First of all, nosh on the brisket queso. It’s a must every time. Second, sit out on the patio if you can and get yourself a nice little view of the fountain and sometimes cute little baby ducklings come strolling through! They also have TV’s out there for you sports fans so you can treat your lady and not miss your game. Or you can grab a front row seat in front of the wood fire kitchen and get real fresh pizza experience. The whole restaurant gives a rustic and homey, farm to table feel. Third, order pizza, any pizza, they are all phenomenal! We love the Farmer’s Pie, the All American and the Supreme(of course). They have live music on Friday’s and Saturday’s and we have enjoyed it every time. Last time we went it was local artists from Denton, with a folky/acoustic/homey feel-good time. We plan to come back and try their brunch very soon on Sundays. Me and the bf love the atmosphere, food, drinks and price!

I was in Dallas for a week for a conference and then visiting with family. I met up with a friend from childhood for brunch. We hadn’t seen each other in YEARS! It was so great to see her. I made a reservation through open table. We wanted to make sure that we could get in. She had been to another Taverna Rossa in the city and she said it was always packed at brunch. She got there before me and to her surprise it wasn’t crowded at all and she was able to walk right in. Our server was really friendly but we felt like he kind of forgot about us a few times. Usually I would take a star off for this but Taverna Rossa it’s your lucky day. It didn’t bother me too much because we were so busy catching up on over 10 years of life! I ordered the Green Eggs & Ham breakfast pizza — green herb olive oil mix, scrambled eggs, Canadian bacon & double cream brie. I nearly ate the whole thing! I loved that the crust was thin and really crispy. Eggs were cooked nicely and all really great flavor. This place looked really nice. Cozy, nice wood and iron trimmings. Neat little place.

Ah Taverna Rossa. I am still dreaming about your pizzas and brisket queso. Fresh off our flight from Baltimore, our Texas-transplanted family brought us here for dinner on a busy Saturday night. The place was packed but by planning ahead, our family had a table ready and waiting for us when we arrived at this busy shopping center establishment. Thank goodness since we were starving and ready for some adult beverages! The brisket queso was amazing. Who knew that adding tender, flavorful brisket could elevate a simple but delicious cheese dip and Fritos to such levels? If you go here, get this. You can thank me later. I ordered a half Margherita /half Kona Fire pizza. I would be hard-pressed to tell you which one I liked more. The Margherita is my standard, and by which I measure all pizza places. It was fresh, simple and delicious. The Kona Fire was a spicy take on a traditional Hawaiian, and the hot pepper, salty turkey bacon and sweet pineapple was an awesome combo. I would order this same combo pie again and again. The DBF really enjoyed his Classic Rossa, and that pie was amazing too with roasted chicken, spinach and artichoke hearts. Service was great, timely and efficient and they kept our beers and cocktails coming. They really kept on top of our group of four adults and two toddlers. If I lived in Plano I would be a regular here. Hey Taverna Rossa, ever consider opening a place in Baltimore? Please think about it!!!
