I’m so happy with the service here. My counselor is very helpful and understandable. She helped me going through a tough period of time.

Since there are 2 pages for Gearing Up on Unilocal,I’ll post this again… I’m beyond upset with my experience at Gearing Up. I really wanted to like this establishment as it has the flexible hours and location I was looking for, but their unethical billing practices and misleading employees left me incredibly unhappy. To think I started going here to help me handle stress! After multiple calls and getting the run around, I’m forced to write an unfavorable review to warn others. It’s kind of embarrassing to write a review on a counseling service as I am thus telling«the world» I see a counselor(pretty personal for Unilocal!), but this shows the extent of how awful it has been to work with this office. Warning — they will charge you for appointments and testing that never happened, tell you something is covered by EAP then charge your card, even when you have requested to pay everything in cash(card only for contingency) and then will send you random bills months afterwards. All of my calls/messages have been ignored! Please note, the counselor I saw here was actually good, but the billing practices, constant lies and ignored messages clouds this completely. I am a very rational person that doesn’t mind working through an issue logically and calmly to resolution — too bad they refuse to do the same.

The counselors at Gearing Up are great! Tricia has been the prefect match for my daughter. Don’t know where we’d be without her! Kelli has been real helpful also. We have had a couple of issues with the front desk but nothing major. Just a billing issue here and there.

This is a great mental health office! Dr. Sylvia Gearing has helped me so much with my issues! The office staff is great to work with and they help schedule my appointments around my work schedule. I don’t know where I’d be mentally if it wasn’t for Gearing Up this past year!

This is a terrible office. I felt very uncomfortable at my intake appointment. My papers clearly stated that I didn’t want to see a male therapist. Mr Gearing did my intake. Are you kidding me??? He asked extremely personal, uncomfortable questions. After the awful intake, I did get assigned to a wonderful Counselor.(Jennifer was the only good thing that came out of that practice) I wrote a letter of complaint to the Gearings. I was informed that I would have to recant the letter if I wanted to continue seeing Jennifer. Was that a threat? Sure sounded like it… The front desk is completely incompetent. Screwed up payments often and wouldn’t return my phone calls. They require a 48 hour cancellation or they charge $ 80. I wouldn’t recommend this office to anybody.
