Our first time here and so far so great The service is friendly and the food it yummy! My spouse got the fish tacos with a side of pico … Three tacos served w rice on a corn tortilla — very good. I had fried fish and shrimp and it is perfect! The pay as you eat system is fun and the décor very nice.

Reading some of the reviews, I’m starting to think people haven’t the least idea of what quality food is. The seafood here is excellent. Fresh and reasonably priced. The food is cooked to order and comes to your table hot. I have not had a bad meal here yet. The honor system is spot on and yes when it’s busy you have to stand in line to pay. People if b you want fast food go to mcdonalds. The key lime pie is the best I have ever had! Try the food and see for yourself

I got the filet, fried shrimp, and fried oyster basket. I tried it all and only ate the two shrimps. The oysters and filet were terrible and the fries were just okay. The filet was very thin and mostly tasted like the batter it’s cooked in. The oysters– ugh. I can barely think about them. Not a great dinner by any means. My husband got the grilled fish tacos and they were better, but still not great. The people were very nice and the outdoor seating was enjoyable. The atmosphere is fun. I might go back to try a different meal, but it won’t be a priority.

new location !! yaaay! I love the location near north dallas/utd, so when I saw another one pop up by fat straws, I made a note to stop by My friend and I came during happy hour and I got oysters and she got the fried shrimp basket. Consistently good, and the oysters here are cleaner than the north dallas location! The whole restaurant is super clean and new! awesome atmosphere and friendly quick service! I always recommend this place to my fellow oyster fans. Can’t beat the price, size, and amazing-ness this place is with their oysters: p

My husband and I love Big Shucks and Aw Shucks restaurants! Our frequent was the Big Shucks on Spring Valley in Richardson. We were in Plano doing some errands and decided to stop by for some breakfast/lunch. This restaurant is smaller and has lots more windows for natural light. Which I enjoyed because it was a nice sunny day. We decided on a spicy shrimp cocktail each. Ceviche to share and he wanted to try the fried calamari. Ceviche is still awesome! Bright flavored and nice size chunks of fish w/a nice serving of avocado. The only thing I didn’t like much were the chips. They were a bit too hard and crunchy. I still enjoyed it though. It’s our favorite dish. The shrimp cocktail was loaded with shrimp and nice and spicy. It’s a perfect hangover cure. The husband loved the calamari. The girls at the front were nice and helpful. So if we’re in the area we’ll definitely be back!

Fast and very courteous. Lots of seating indoors and outdoors. Oysters were fresh and awesome. Fried Calamari lacked flavor, blackend trout was good but the portion size of rice to veggies was off; not equal parts served. However rice was great. My wife’s shrimp cocktail was also good. The vibe is awesome but some of the food needs work. Staff definitely on point

Pay at the end process makes for a terrible customer experience and long wait times to pay. If they want you to pay at the end, then provide a ticket with a bar code that can be scanned to make check out quicker and more accurate. I have no idea how large parties keep their orders straight so that they recite the whole thing AGAIN when you leave. The average quality of the food isn’t worth putting up with this annoying process.

First time here and love it! I happened to be here during happy hour and ordered 6 oysters after having a dozen delicious ones slide right down. The price is incredible even at full price because these babies are large, fresh, and shiny! Plus the make your own cocktail bar is exciting to test your level of heat. I also had a cold brewski and a catfish filet a la carte that was juicy, crunchy, and hot served with a fine tarter sauce. Just being a first timer, I will be back for more and some craw-dads! I saw some lady near by tearing them up and they too appeared to be large, bright and seasoned well. As far as the setting goes, there is an outdoor patio and indoor seating with clear garage doors that open to offer a nice breeze. I hope dogs are allowed on the porch as I’d love to bring Fido along next time. Thanks Aw Shucks for a great first visit. Your friendly, fast service was noticed!

Love this place. Everything is good. All works on the honor system. Great selection of beer, fun atmosphere and best onion rings ever Also loved the crab legs, fried catfish and shrimp. Oysters are fresh and safe to eat

I got 2 dozen oysters on the half shell at happy hour(3/6:30 M-F) price of ½ off. Worth the deal if you have a craving for raw oysters.

I think you’ll be dissapointed if you order anything but the catfish here. That’s been my experience– the catfish is awesome, fresh and tasty. But the oysters, shrimp, and a few other dishes I have were letdowns. You make your own cocktail sauce(which I never knew was simply a mix of ketchup and horseradish sauce) — I actually didn’t like this because I found myself either putting too much horseradish and destroying my nostrils, or putting too little and eating ketchup– not experienced enough to strike the perfect balance. The service was good, food was pretty decent– definitely a downgrade from the original lower Greenville location IMO

My first time here… my rate is on the food! I ordered the filet and shrimp basket and was so disappointed! The filet and shrimp were cut so thin that it was basically eating straight batter… Was so disappointed! Heard great things but not the experience I was hoping for! Other than that, the staff was great! Very friendly and polite!

Good first visit. Got the crab cake with butterfly scrimp and fries. We liked the large fries served very hot. Cake was so large that we saved one for leftovers at home. Fast service. Worth another visit next year.

I’ve waited to try this place out twice before leaving a review. I’m not sure if I’m the only one, but I’ve only heard good things about the Aw Shucks franchise, but I have yet to have a pleasant dining experience at Aw Shucks. Both times I had friendly staff take my order and serve us, but my only complaint is the food. The food quality is just not up to par. it just simply doesn’t taste good. My first time, I had a order of Calamari, and the Shrimp Cocktail. The calamari was soggy and incredibly greasy and the Shrimp in the Shrimp cocktail just tasted like unthawed generic frozen shrimp straight out of the bag. I visited a second time to give them another chance, and had the same experience food wise, dry chicken wings and overcooked fries. I will give this place two stars for their hush puppies and the environment, but it’s nothing to come back for. Save yourself the money and go to a razoos to fulfill your Cajun needs.

I came to this location expecting it to be as yummy as the location in Lower Greenville. but it’s just not the same. Service was amazing, everyone was super helpful and just overall very sweet. The food was just alright. I order the half dozen raw oysters and the boiled hot & spicy shrimp(which is one pound of shrimp). You honestly can not go wrong with oysters, but I’ve tasted fresher oysters elsewhere. The shrimp is dry rub and wasn’t as spicy or seasoned as I had hoped. It just tasted like boiled shrimp with a slight hint of seasoning… I ended up just squeezing a ton of lemons on there and mixing the tobasco sauce with the tartar sauce to bring out some flavor. Overall it’s just alright. The things I liked about this location was that it’s really big and there’s indoor and outdoor seating. Our dirty plates were immediately taken and cleaned off the table. And as we were paying, the cashier was very sweet and asked us about our meals and such. I will try this place again and maybe try different items on the menu next time.

I stopped by for lunch over the weekend. Most of the menu items are fried but they do have a couple of grilled fish items. I ended up ordering the grilled fish tacos — figured its kind of hard to mess those up. They were really the worst fish tacos I have ever eaten. They were one piece of grilled fish in a corn corn tortilla. No salsa, no topping of any kind on top of the fish. I have had fish tacos a million times and never have they been served totally naked! Chefs always add their own touch via the accoutrements with the taco, maybe a pineapple or mango salsa, or some type of flavorful cabbage. At least throw some cilantro on top. These are totally undressed. They were accompanied with a huge amount of rice and some quite spicy ceviche — both were not good. And to make matters worse their draft beers were small. There has to be a better option for oysters and seafood in Plano.

I went here yesterday because a favorite nearby restaurant was closed. The food is okay. You can get better food at Snappy Catfish or Rockfish for a similar or better price. You have to make your own cocktail sauce, which is interesting. I didn’t know what cocktail sauce was made of, but I would rather have had the option of just getting pre-made sauce so I didn’t have to assemble it all at the counter. The waiter was having a bad day. Maybe I’m spoiled, but DFW usually has friendly service, and a restaurant probably won’t make it with«what do you want?» You have to pay on the way out and recite your order again to the grumpy waiter. And your group has to wait on you when you’re standing around ready to go. You can’t substitute for fries. Sides can only be added on.

We were delighted to see an Aw Shucks so close to where we live. We had been driving up the highway to Lewisville for years, but not ejoying the traffic. The menu is more or less the same as the other locations, except no provision for grilled oysters. We thought the food quality was pretty good, and the service was excellent. Drinks were good, and the key lime pie was superb. The second time around, the shrimp were overcooked and tough. The same thing occurs at the Lewisville location about half the time. On the other hand, the onion rings were perfect. Since they are new, I’m giving this location 3 stars for now, and I’ll say more research is needed.

This place is just okay for me. Service was good but food wasn’t too impressive. You order and pay later on their honor system. You tell them what you ordered instead of giving them a ticket of what you ordered. My husband enjoyed the $ 2 draft beer during their happy hour(ends at 6:30) and would come back just because of that. The margaritas were only $ 3.50 and super strong. I added the mango flavoring but I should have just left it plain. Now to the food. We only ordered the raw oysters(half off during happy hour) and got the fish fry basket for the kids. The oysters were clean and not bad but the cocktail sauce killed it for me. It was on the sweeter side and taste mostly like ketchup. Yuck! The fish fry was bland and the coating was a little thick. You can barely taste the fish itself. Their tarter sauce was way better than cocktail sauce though. My 2 year old toddler saw my margarita and kept crying for it. So we asked the girl at the order counter if it was okay to bring outside drinks and she said it was fine. So my husband went to the bubble tea joint next door to grab some watermelon slush. We got a happy baby! That was nice of them to let us do that.
