Akins Heather, DO

Dr. Akins is the best. I’ve been going to her for… around 10 years or so. She’s incredibly thorough but not in an off-​putting way. She’s warm, very calming and quite funny, which is why I’ve kept going to her for so long.
Her staff is also great. I’m not sure what’s up with the girl who said her staff was unpleasant, but I’ve been nothing but happy with their demeanor. They’re friendly and get you taken care of without feeling like they’re rushing you.
I’ll say this: whenever I need to re-​think my insurance, I call and make sure they take whatever company I’m thinking of going with. If they don’t, that company is out of the running. Makes the decision process pretty easy.

Dr Heather Akins is very nice. I’ve only seen her once, but could tell she cared, and was very personable, and made me feel very comfortable.
As for her staff: Very unpleasant. From the ladies at the front desk to the nurses that get you into your exam room, they are not nice. They rush you, and heard you around like you are cattle. The front desk ladies are rude.
Even though I really feel that Dr. Akins is a wonderful doctor, I do not want to go back, and will not look forward to future visits due to the treatment from the rest of the staff.

Dr. Akins has been our family doctor for 9 years now. She is very knowledgeable and personable; I have always felt completely at ease around her, and I know that no matter what health issue I am experiencing, she will know just what to do.
I feel like she really cares about me as a patient; she has made every effort to get to know me and my husband over the years to the point that, even if I haven’t seen her for 6 months, she will still remember what we talked about last and will ask how things are going for me.
She is booked solid more often than not, so appointments should be made in advance. Having said that, if an urgent appointment is necessary, her staff are pretty flexible and will work with you to get you in as soon as possible.
