Worst experience yet. Dropped off my scuba bottle to be hydro tested. I was told it was a 2 – 3 week turn around which I already thought was a long time versus other places advertising a week. It has now been 5.5 weeks without a bottle and they can’t tell me when it will be back for use.

This shop has really gone downhill. I took my dive course here 20 years ago and bought all my equipment here. They they downsized. I have still had my regulator serviced here, but no more. The communication between staff is zero. I needed a part for my compass on my gauge and was told they would call and order it and let me know. This was a Tuesday. I heard nothing. I called on Friday and was told nothing had been done. I was also told they could still order and have it for me by the following Tuesday. I questioned this but was assured I would have it. When I called to let them know I was coming in to get it in the afternoon I was told they could not get the part. Went to pick up my regulator and the compass wasn’t even there. I was supposed to wait until whoever took it came back. I asked if they could call this person and was rudely treated. I was 20 miles away and really needed to go. Being lied to and not contacted is inexcusable and I will never return.

I scheduled a Diver Refresher Course back in December. They were suppose to email me some(medical?) forms, but I never received them. I called them and left messages the weekend and Monday before my course, but I did not hear from them due to them being closed, according to their message. On the day of my course, I called multiple times and never got a response back. Not wanting to lose my money(because I had to pay in advance over the phone), I drove 45 minutes to the store. Upon arrival, I see a sign that they are closed for the day. I never received a phone call or message that my course had been cancelled. The next day, I called and told them the situation. The response I received was that it was an «oversight,» but never received an official apologize or reasoning. They said they would refund my money. Two weeks later, I still had no received my refund. It took a second call to receive my money. I do not recommend this place to anyone, because they do not treat their customers with any form of respect.

Completed the confined part of the PADI open water diver course with instructor Doyle Mains, took my referral paperwork to Cozumel, and finished down there. Good people; a pleasant, seamless experience. Doyle made himself readily available to us in case we had any questions or difficulties. I recommend this shop.

As a parent you want to minimize your child’s difficulties and help them succeed. The instructors at Adventure Scuba encouraged me not to do this. Now, before you get your panties in a twist, they were interested in making sure my son knew how to do all his skills on his own. While I still find myself doing certain things for him on the boat or dock, I appreciate the instructors making sure he actually knows his skills so he can both keep me honest and do the majority of the setup himself. My son was 10 year old when we attended our class and there were only 3 others in the class. We had 2 instructors in the pool with us and while the pool was fairly small, there was plenty of room for the 7 of us. The instructors spent a lot of time one-on-one with anyone that needed help including my son which made me all the more confident in his skills and those of the instructors. When my work prevented me from doing the open water dives with Adventure Scuba, they were very helpful in setting up the student referral(transfer) to another dive shop where we were vacationing. When we returned and were already certified, they allowed us to tag along for the open water dives here in Texas at the Clear Springs Scuba Park(CSSP) in Terrell, TX. While I was surprised by cost of the park($ 20/diver and $ 10/spectator) and the fact the park was cash only(make sure you stop at the ATM), there were again 2 instructors for the 5 students in attendance. Both instructors(Tom and Vanessa) were extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Last bit, if you do your open water dives at CSSP, bring some charcoal and grill out for lunch :)

Rented tanks, regulator and BC. Prices were reasonable and customer service was pleasant. I read the two star review and while I agree that 10 people per instructor is a lot, the pool is not an oversized bathtub. I have been in quite a few dive shops over the years and this one looked no different than any of the others. You have to remember though it is located in Plano, TX, the land of the entitled whiner. I would spend my money there again.

If you are sort of interested in scuba but aren’t sure if it’s worth the investment, this is the class for you. I’m a petite girl, so my husband was convinced I’d sink to the bottom with the tank or a shark would eat me b/c I couldn’t swim away fast enough. I found a deal to an Adventure Scuba class and we went there last Saturday. Before coming in, I made several calls and each time, Alan, was awesome. He answered my questions and gave me reassurance(let’s say I was just a wee bit nervous) that I would survive my 4 hour class. We got there a little early and it was nice meeting Alan. He was very helpful in answering our questions about masks and different snorkel equipment. We attended a 10 minute video class(on VHS!) and Steve, our instructor, did a great job of reiterating the video lesson and walking us through the high points. They have plenty of masks and flippers for those that don’t own their own, like us. Once in the water, the pool gradually goes from 3 feet to 5 feet, but watch out for the 18 foot drop! We put on our scuba gear, which, yes, in the water I could carry just find thanks to my vest, Steven did a fantastic job of walking us through our equipment. He would describe the next step, take us underwater to demonstrate and then ask us individual to copy him. He was very encouraging and open to questions. After we were comfortable with breathing through the scuba equipment and swimming around, we were ready for… wait for it… the 18 foot end! I’ll admit I was a little nervous, but figured, there are two instructors in the pool, nothing is going to happen to me. With the handy dandy hand signals they teach you, I knew I’d be fine. So one by one, Steve took us down. It was so much fun! He was great about making sure I was okay and reminding me to pop my ears(super important in scuba). Once at the bottom, the hubby and I played football and did flips… such a blast! Also cool was that they took pictures of you underwater and posted it on their Facebook page. It was an AWESOME experience. I highly recommend it for anyone that is unsure about scuba or just want to «test the water.» :)
