Nevin’s Brewing Company is an interesting little place. The front half is a bar with a stage for performers/bands. The back and patio is set up with tons of televisions and a more upscale feel. We visited for a friends bachelor party and there was a pretty sizable number of beers available which was perfect for the occasion. The food was overall pretty good, they had an unlimited wing special and all of the wings I had were pretty tasty. The only drawback for this place is the service is pretty slow.

I wanted to like Nevin’s so bad, good local brews and good food. Well Nevin’s has neither. The food is lousy, usually overlooked, extremely salty and sloppy. At least try to use something fresh. And the beers are mediocre and have a metallic after taste, likely do to their brewing equipment or sanitary practices. I also agree with other reviews, the servers are condescending and a little snobby … bothered to take an order and even to just check in. As a restaurant you’d think customer service would be top priority, since the don’t put their food at the top. Hopefully they make some changes or they will be gone like the last establishment. Check out some of the other restaurants in this plaza!

Turns out I enjoy Nevin’s Brewing for the same reason I enjoyed Limestone… large venue that offers live music! Sure, there are a handful of their beers that I enjoy — especially when they have them on special for $ 2 — but the music is where it’s at. I’ve been here on a Thursday night and Friday night and both were a good time. We enjoyed the duo from Final Say so much on our first visit, that we came back to Nevin’s to see the full band play a couple weeks later. I’d say there were the perfect amount of people in the place both times. It’s a fun atmosphere, the waitresses are nice, and there’s plenty of seating(and room to dance!). Of course they brew their own beer, so that’s fun trying the different brews. I was a little upset the one time I came and they ran out of their IPA which was my favorite(and I only got one)! I’ve tried a couple of their appetizers and they were definitely tasty. Nothing mind blowing, but great food to munch on when you’re doing some drinking! I love how big this space is. They have seating downstairs near the stage, a back room, an upstairs, a large bar, and even a huge patio space. I wouldn’t go out of my way to just come to grab some food or a drink at Nevin’s, but if they have some live music or something else fun going on I totally would! I’ll also be back to enjoy their patio for sure.

Average at best. Patio was ok but service is slow and meal was nothing special at price point. First and last time dining here for me.

I have been here a few times now during their live music nights and it is always a good time. Both times out waitresses have been very attentive and we never went thirsty. This place has pretty good deals everyday. I went on a thursday for their $ 2 beers which were their own brewed beers. Only downside was the one that I was drinking they ran out of at around 10. Apart from that I would say this place is a good hangout spot with the good drink/food deals they have.

Great beer selection. But it’s overpriced compared to other places craft selection. Also staff has poor menu knowledge. Our waitress allowed my friend to order a mislabeled item on the menu and when he questioned her about getting the wrong thing her response was«oh yeah we know its a typo». No «can I fix this» or «I’m sorry I forgot, let me see what I can do». We left after 1 round as they had no specials either. Who doesn’t have a Wednesday special?

I’ve been to this restaurant a few times with high hopes but never leave feeling I’ve had something I can’t wait to have again. The service is fairly slow even when it’s not terribly busy. This place is okay, unfortunately not somewhere I’d hurry back to.

So we stopped coming here a few years ago as it really let us down, but a few months ago we decided to revisit Nevin’s and give it another go and I’m glad we did! The staff and the food have been outstanding! We have been back weekly since. The food has been fresh and cooked beautifully. Our service has been courteous and prompt. It’s our new favorite place again. We love that they are back on track. Such a great beer selection I hated not coming here, now I have no reason to stay away! — — — So I must have spoken too soon. We’ve been back a few times since and it’s the same old Nevin’s again. Poor food, terrible service, trivia night speakers/microphone way too loud. Had to adjust my rating back to 2 stars since our 5 star experience seemed to be a fluke.

I am sharing a post that I read on Facebook from a gentleman who’s friend passed away on the dance floor in Nevin’s: Okay everyone. I need your help here. I want this to go viral. April 8th my best friend passed away at nevins brewing company in plainfield. During that time a band was playing and he was on the dance floor. When paramedics showed up, the bar REFUSED to have the music stopped or the lights turned on. These paramedics had to shove their way through the crowd to try to get to my best friend and save his life. Many people dancing had no way of knowing any of this took place since the bar refused the paramedics request. Even the band had no idea anything ever happened. This is wrong and ignorant. Who knows if any extra time could of help. I know this won’t bring him back but i don’t want it to ever happen to someone else. Please share this and refuse to give this bar any more money.

The beer was average if I was being generous. Staff was very unknowledgeable when asked to explain the brews. Food was Applebee’s quality. Stay away if you are a beer aficionado. Or even if you like anything better than natty ice.

Slllllllloooooooowwwwwwwww service and snobby employees who know nothing about the menu or beers. Hostess and servers need a lesson in customer service. Food was nothing to rave about. Save your money. Not worth it.

Try the steak bites or firecracker shrimp, house favs! The salmon in any form is delicious. Brews to have: IPA, Quick Wit, Southside Stout.

This is a good sized place with some pretty good food. Unfortunately, the service I received there was very slow. The restaurant was very busy as there was a live music performance that evening. They were woefully understaffed; it took a very long time for my food to arrive and the waitstaff was inattentive.

Showed up on Saturday with few friends to see a live band, I wasn’t too hungry so I’ve decided to try their appetizers, first I’ve got mozzarella sticks, order arrived promptly but it was awful, disgusting frozen crap thrown into the oil and served with some concussion they call marinara sauce, not only it tasted like cardboard but it looked like they haven’t finished cooking it since it didn’t pick up any color. Not being smart I’ve decided to try their chicken wings, this was even bigger mistake, tasteless deep fried chicken dripping with oil that will make your stomach sick, after this I’ve decided to save my money, waitress once she picked up money for the order clearly disregarded request for water, not my type of place, in my book it had nothing going for it.

The manager accused my husband of paying with a $ 10 bill instead of a $ 20. Said he was going to watch the security tape. My husband told he would be vindicated by the tape but the manager said it was unclear. Manager refused to side with customer. I just want to wish that manager good luck because I’m guessing things are getting pretty bad if your manager has to go toe to toe like that over $ 10. Everybody else watch your money.

So when we arrived we were told there would be an hour wait in order to get a table. We didn’t mind because we were not in that much of a hurry, but the hostess didn’t ask us if we wanted to wait for a table. She pretty much said, «there’s an hour wait. How about you find a place at the bar.» It was a bit annoying, but we just went to the bar. The atmosphere is really nice. The décor is pretty cool. They have a small stage for bands. I ordered the macaroni and was disappointed. The macaroni was bland and the portion was so huge that even with 3 people we barely got to half of it. It would be much better as a side dish or charge less and give a smaller portion. The menu seemed to have a diverse selection of food. My friend ordered the pulled pork and he was happy with his selection. Now as for the beer. This was the best part. They did have a good selection of beers they brew. My girlfriend tried the sampler and the beers were pretty good. I wasn’t drinking so i only had a few sips. The vanilla porter was one of my favorites. I’d like to come back and try the beer selection. Overall the experience was average. The hostess not asking us if we would like to wait for a table while sitting at the bar did make us feel very unwelcomed, but i guess i can chalk that up to her being young. I’ll try it one more time and see how it is.

A solid three stars brewing company, I would recommend Nevin’s to those in the Plainfield area looking for good beer and hearty American food. I didn’t try all the beers, but there was a variety that were tried in our party, and no one had anything bad to say about them. I had the wheat ale, which was tangy and their own version of like a Blue Moon. I came here for an ISA presentation(professional society), and I will say, the venue was definitely one of the best ones I’ve been to. They had a big, accommodating room, and buffet-style food. The project was sharp and clear, and the sound system was easy to work! Three cheers for no technology difficulties! Food wise, I like the blue cheese dressing with their salad, and the def recommend the Mac and cheese. The noodles were cooked perfect, not too mushy, and had plenty of cheese and breeding topping to provide a wonderful American flavor to pair with your beer! Service was a bit to be desired, but the atmosphere and food was good. A great middle ground place if you are having a hard time choosing somewhere to go out.

So following up on my last review. I complained about overcharges and heard from someone who discussed my issues and promised to follow up. Maybe the volume of bad service follow ups has derailed the process so I guess months later there will be no follow up. When my friends want to go there again I will not be joining them. If there is a zero rating I would award that.

Bleh, I couldn’t be less impressed. This place is a pit — drinks are pricey, food is sub-par, and the service was terrrible. Three R terrrible. It’s one thing to wait 20 minutes for your drinks to come, but it’s another to see clueless server after clueless server walk by your table with your food order — asking multiple other tables if the food is theirs. It’s even worse when the jerks at the other tables accept your food and there you sit — hangry and thirsty. To be fair, we also had servers bring us other people’s food twice during the meal. We were honest Abes, though and didn’t accept the food we didn’t order. Get your shiz together, Tommy! Assign numbers to tables and then make your servers learn them. Once we got our food, we didn’t have small plates for apps, let alone any self respect for actually staying another hour. Don’t even get me started about the band and cover situation. I hate this place. Sorry, I’m not sorry Tommy.

I’m visiting from Austin(aka Live Music Capitol of the World), so I see lots of bands; both original and cover bands. I’ve seen a few bands around here and they’ve been ok. Nothing great, nothing horrible. Tonight I did not expect much as far as the music. I was wrong. I have to say ARRA was one of the best cover bands I have heard. The lead singer sounds more like Steve Perry than Steve Perry does. Outstanding! The bar itself was pretty nice. I ordered a margarita & am always hesitant to do so in IL because they’re usually not very good. I’ve been in Austin way too long. It was ok. Not great. The server was cool & fairly attentive. She did take all of my friend’s cash on the table when she was trying to still count out what she had, so that was a bit weird. She probably would have gotten a bigger tip if she had waited. Typical Saturday night bar scene though… lots of singles, lots of couples. And thank God there wasn’t a lot of dancing. I would go back here again because it doesn’t seem to be a major meat market. We were able to hang out and not be bothered too much. Although it’s not a great place to talk because the music is really loud. But who needs to talk? There are other places for that.
