Went there last nite and can’t say enough about the place! The wine was delicious and service was great– but the food can’t be beat! I tried a peanut butter and jelly stuffed burger and it was fantastic!!! Sounds like a contradiction in choice, but I never had a better burger!!! Love the place!!!

Port mushroom sandwich was great and you can’t beat ½ price wine night on Wednesday’s! Sat outside, perfect night for that too…

Have been at Hop Scotch multiple times now and the food has been excellent each time. So has the service. Whether eating inside our out, the servers have been friendly and attentive. The prices are pretty good too, the selections fairly large. There were young couples and older ones enjoying the place each time we’ve been there, so it’s a pretty eclectic crowd. Great meeting place for friends and family.

This place would be a five star if they could improve on Customer Service. Not a friendly atmosphere. Food is good. I have tried it like four times because the food is good and we do not have a lot of variety downtown Plainfield. I received the same welcoming no smiles. I think one out of four visits the young girl was nice and I even complimented her. Sorry I love to only write great reviews but this last visit I had to write. It’s such a easy fix. Most awkward dining experience. Only ones there for ten plus minutes, but last served. Food was bland, no flavor what so ever. Just not a fan.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. Just had the worst restaurant experience for Mother’s Day lunch. The service was so bad we walked out. We had reservations for noon(when they opened) and by 1 they still didn’t feed us… And they weren’t even busy! And, they ran out of what we ordered on the limited menu provided even though we were there at the open! I will never again eat here and I hope you don’t either.

Cute place. Did not eat here but went to bar. The selection of beers, wine and whiskey/scotch is huge. Too bad I’m a vodka drinker. The vodka selection would make any college kid happy because they will drink just about anything that’s cheap. Not me, I’m a bit older and didn’t want the head in the gutter feeling the next day. However, this is not why it got 2 stars. For a Saturday night there was one bartender. He was obviously overwhelmed. Said he could make l Cosmo, wrong. It was awful and the only beer my husband order they had downstairs and it was warm. Really?! I blame poor management on this.

Best burgers my husband, son and I have ever had! Cooked perfectly super flavorful and juicy! I had the garlic and blue cheese stuffed burger, hubby the southwestern and my son was brave enough to order the Elvis burger! He loved it, as did we! Service was good, especially considering it was a gorgeous evening and there were quite a few people sitting outside. We chose to sit inside near the bar and the bartender was funny and friendly and made me an awesome gin & tonic. Everything comes with your choice of two sides which is nice and I would highly recommend the garlic potato wedges!

This may have been the most absentminded service I’ve ever experienced. We went for dinner on a Friday night with a group of 8(reservation made). We were seated in an upstairs extra room. We waited 20 minutes for our waitress to arrive and take our drink order. When she arrived with our drinks she was missing 2. When we inquired where they were, she said she forgot that they were out of the ingredients to make them and didn’t ask what alternative drink we’d like. We ordered 3 plates of the goat cheese appetizers, one plate arrived and the other two took another 15 minutes. Meanwhile, at this point we’d been there an hour and our entrée orders hadn’t been taken yet. Instead, another waitress attempted to deliver another table’s entrees to us. Someone in our party ordered a side salad, in addition to his entrée. They arrived exactly one minute apart. Our meal took nearly 3 hours from start to finish . The food was pretty good, not remarkable.

I was a little disappointed with this place. It’s always busy when I pass by so I thought it would be a good bet. I thought it was a bit overpriced. 9 dollars for a glass of wine is excessive. The food was pretty good, but the portions were small, considering the price. The only positive is that the location is great. I’m not so sure I’ll be back there anytime soon.

First and last time. Went with wife and teenager, we all ordered burgers medium rare and theirs were ok, however mine came out RAW, then they asked if it’d be ok to reheat mine. When I said no, was told it would be a few minutes I declined a new burger as my family was half done eating. I guess we should have gone with leftovers as that’ll be my dinner tonight. Disappointing when you try someplace new for it to flop so badly. A manager couldn’t even apologize for the poor quality, the best they could do was take the raw inedible burger off the bill.

I tried the goat cheese appetizer which was fantastic. The spinach artichoke dip was pretty disappointing. It was just a ton of melted cheese/cream cheese with no real flavor! I got zero spinach or artichoke and it was terribly bland. The sandwich I had was the chicken caprese and it was good! Cute place, very quiet… like library kind of quiet! I DONOTRECOMMEND if you’re looking for an upbeat, fun environment or if you have a craving for an awesome spinach/artichoke dip.

I enjoy this place! First of all, HopScotch and Vine has the best waitstaff in downtown Plainfield. Everything seems to be priced pretty well for what it is. Food has always been great. I think they missed the mark with their fancy interactive menu but it was a nice try. The lack of draft beer doesnt bother me at all because the bottles prices are decent and diverse. Sitting outside Hopscotch on a nice day for a drink and dinner cannot be beat in the area. As a tip, I always ask if I can be sat away from the bathrooms, I feel that sitting within 5 feet of the men’s bathroom would far takeaway from the experience.

I was really hoping this place would be great. We were waited on by really friendly and courteous servers and the restaurant is pleasant. My Bloody Mary was super! Just enough spice. My husband and I are primarily veggie eaters but when we saw all the awesome burger selections and that they use local beef, we both decided to give them a try. I felt like they were both freshly made and the idea was great but the burger itself was a bit bland. The fries also left a bit to be desired. Not to say it wasn’t tasty, just not quite what I was picturing. I like to support local businesses so maybe I will give them another shot but there are just so many other great places to try.

I’m a big fan of this place. I think it’s great. I love the expansion, I love the food That being said, I have a couple complaints: — they list specials on the board that may or may not be available. Special was out by 5:30pm…what’s the point of putting it on the board. — interactive drink menus. Waste of money and confusing to the customer. An iPad takes much longer to pass around than a sliver of paper,

Finally ate a real dinner here. Got one of their crazy stuffed burgers(pb&j) and bowtie pasta, both of which were really good. I like the environment and there’s more on the menu I’d like to try. Only downside is their drink list is pretty weak. No draft beer, and the bottle list they have is run of the mill. Too many IPAs, no Belgians, nothing very interesting. They also appear to have no cocktails other than martinis. But food wise this is a good spot, and a nice addition to the ever improving downtown Plainfield.

Nice variety of entrees, salads and sandwiches. I ordered the portabella mushroom sandwich which could have been perfect if not for all of the oil. Also ordered the veggie of the day which was grilled peppers and asparagus, but super oily too. The coleslaw was a huge disappointment as it was mixed with ramen noodles and the ramen noodle seasoning packet. I realize that for some this would not have been a problem, but I happen to have an allergy to MSG and there was no mention of the coleslaw containing any of these ingredients on the menu. The waitress did offer to bring me a substitute side when I noticed the ramen, but really the portions were large and there was no need for more food. I must say the Red Sangria was perfectly delicious — not too sweet at all. I’d like to go back when the weather is good and try some other items, as I hear they have a nice patio area too.

Love the food here. We have been several times and are never disappointed. The steamed mussels are amazing and the limoncello mascarpone cake is not to be missed. The only drawback I have found is the limited wine selection. With such a great menu it would be better to compliment it with more wine options.

Been here many times and I’ve never been disappointed! It’s located in the heart of downtown historic Plainfield. They are a bit upscale and take reservations, but you can show up on a whim and tend to get a table. However, try to get reservations during the busy times. The food is delicious! They have a rounded menu. I recommend their steaks. They tend to change it up a little based on season. The bar is stocked. I tend to get a nice bottle of pinot noir. They have outside seating in good weather which provide excellent people watching on a good night.

The good stuff first… very nice patio. That’s it. So we ordered a bottle of wine. After an extremely long delay we were told they were out of that wine. We ordered another bottle. After another very long wait, sold out again. Something about the wine list changing every 2 weeks. We ordered another bottle and they actually had it! Waitress brought it out and struggled to open it. We ended up helping her. Usually they give you something to keep white wine cold but not this time. Waitress nowhere to be found. The hostess brought that to us. At this point things are getting comically bad. At least the waitress somewhat apologized. Ordered some appetizers which were just ok. Buffalo shrimp were simply shrimp smothered in Buffalo sauce. Not a lot of thought on the appie side of the menu. My advice– get the burgers which looked good and have beer or soft drinks. Whatever you do, don’t order wine!

This place is a great place for lunch or dinner. The food is delicious and the atmosphere in the dining room is warm and classy. Outside tables are available, weather permitting, Service is usually good. Our favorite server is Adrian. He is always attentive and able to answer any questions we had about the menu. If you are looking to dine downtown Plainfield, you should definitely check this place out.

Terrible Service My wife and I wanted to grab dinner after checking out the menu and outdoor seating. The food was really good and the drinks were not bad. After receiving our drinks and food our server Katy disappeared for 20 mins. It wasn’t crowded and there were plenty servers on hand. After another 20 mins pass again, I simply tried to order drinks from the bar. At which I couldn’t because the bartender refused to allow me to order two drinks at once, which I’m still unclear about. Maybe he thought they were just for me, which is still odd. I didn’t seem intoxicated or slurred in my speech but nonetheless I explained we haven’t seen our server in a long time and just wanted to order drinks. We finally received our drinks. Now was tough battle trying to get our new check. After asking another server to get our check, our server brings us bill and asks very politely«anything else I can get you?» She had great timing. My recommendation get your food to go…

So Overrated!!! Went to HopScotch & Vine based on Unilocal reviews. The décor is fine and the service was ok. However, the food was just terrible. We ordered the«The Sheila» sweet and spicy chicken skewers on the recommendation of the server. This was the introduction to the general approach to food at this place: sugar! It was wrapped in bacon — everything is great with bacon, right? Not! The chicken was overcooked to the point of being squeaky. It was not spicy and very sweet. Ugh… For the entrees we ordered the Mahi Mahi and London Broil. I was worried about the amount of sugar, so I asked for the prep that goes with the Salmon — mustard based. Thank goodness that I asked for the sauce on the side. The Mahi Mahi was overcooked once again and the sauce was so cloyingly sweet. What I expected of the London Broil was a tasty marinade with a quick sear on the grill. Nope! They told me that they braise the meat and cannot be served medium rare because it is already medium. Ok?!? What we got was a grey and soft piece of beef with an Au Jus that tasted just like it came out of a Lipton Onion Soup packet. There are too many better restaurants around here to go back to this place…

Love to ride the bike or drive out to Plainfield and sit on the patio at Hopscotch & Vine. They serve great stuffed burgers from my favorite Butcher & Deli in Plainfield Tischler’s Meat Market. The downtown Plainfield area is such a fun area to relax & dine in or outside. Servers are friendly, and drinks are great as well.

Sat down at 5:30, left at 7:15 without having our meal. Kids food was brought out, server kept lying to us saying food would be out any minute. We cancelled our order and the manager didn’t even try to keep us there so obviously food wasn’t even being cooked. This was a Tuesday night so it wasn’t a crazy night. I want to support a local place but it’s just too hard given how awful the experience was. There were people who came in after we did ate and left before we even complained. Last time we go here.

We were sat outside which was perfect. It was our first time at the restaurant and our server was great. She recommended a few different option. They have stuffed burgers with peanut butter and jelly! I ended up ordering the stuffed Mac and cheese burger. The bun was FABULOUS. The burger was FABULOUS. My husband also got a stuffed burger. My dad got the meatloaf sandwich. He said it was a little over cooked but all in all delicious! We will be back for sure!

Loved this place. Took the wife here for a post anniversary dinner with our 3 yr old and had a blast. Food and Service was great. Had a Gentleman playing classics on the Piano — there from Wed-Sat every week. Great crowd great food. We will definitely be back. Food price was very decent too, considering everything on the menu is organic, grass fed, or cage free.

I called before we arrived, I wasn’t sure if there was a kids menu. There is and my toddler enjoyed her macaroni and cheese. My hubby and I each tried a stuffed burger, both were very good. The sides were traditional with a modern twist, we liked(steak fries with Parmesan and cole slaw with an Italian/Asian dressing). I ordered the house made white Sangria, yum! For a treat we tried the PB chocolate fondue, which came with green apples, bananas, soft pretzel, marshmallow, and rice krispy treat dippers. Great and thank you, Julie, for being so attentive! One more thing, they buy their produce from Peter Rubi and meat from Tischler’s — we love to see local businesses supporting each other.

Great service and even better food! I recommend making a reservation so you’re guaranteed to not have to wait, as with all fantastic restaurants it gets busy. My boyfriend and I ate here he had a stuffed burger which he said was amazing I had the French dip sandwich which was to die for also the burschetta was incredible! We will 100% be back again

Was traveling for work and my fiancé got to travel with me. We don’t like eating at chain restaurants so we always find local places we can’t eat at home. This was a quick drive from Joliet. The atmosphere was good, although definitely an adult only environment(which was fine for us). I tried two of their Martinis as they are supposed to be known for them: Pineapple Rightside Up Cake(YUM!!!) and a dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives(haven’t had one that good in awhile). For appetizer we tried the bruschetta, which was very good but nothing out of the ordinary. The dinners were great and what really did it for us: I had the Drunken Mussels which was just delicious. It was so good, I didn’t want it to end even though I was full. And it they do not give you a small or slight portions of mussels, large size that I could spread throughout my whole pasta bowl. My fiancé had the Maplewood Chicken. It was very delicious! That chicken(I tried a bite) is something we’ve never had in all our travels and will definitely try to replicate at home. Also, our server Justin was a great kid, gave us good recommendations, very polite and answered lots of questions we had as first time guests. Would definitely make this a regular joint if we lived in the area.

Sat down for lunch on Wednesday again at a new spot for me in Plainfield, Hopscotch and Vine. I have passed this place many times going to MoeJoes Cajun and have always wanted to stop in. It has solid reviews so I made it happen. It is in a killer corner spot in downtown Plainfield surrounded by some heavy hitters; Capri Sogno, MoeJoes and Wine & Cheese by TCc, sooooo expectations were high. We sat at about 12:15 and were warmly received by the hostess/waitresses that were waiting in the front of the store. The décor is very warm and kind of dark. We were walked around the the back dining area and decided it was just a little too dark for a light lunch and asked to be seated in the front by the window. Our waitress was very pleasant and she showed us the Ipad mini that contained a digital list of their wine and beer suggestion. Very modern! I can appreciate the value of a little frivolous spending to make an impression. Well done. No booze though, had to work in the afternoon. The menu was pleasantly unique. We opted for the fried stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer. B+. They were crispy and flavorful and the Asian chili sauce was a nice accompaniment to the shroom. For lunch we both went with the stuffed burgers. I had the bacon cheddar stuffed burger. B+ It was fresh juicy and tasted as it should. I just get annoyed when a burger is so tall that when you bite into it everything falls apart. Probably a personal problem but this is my personal review! Overall a good experience, I look forward to sitting for dinner and drinks one evening to really, truly experience Hopscotch! Give it a try you should be pleased!

So my wife and I had the chance to go out the other night and we ended up here. We went in and the hostess was great, sat us right a way. We looked over the menu and put in an appetizer order of the stuffed mushrooms. We got our drinks, and had to wait about 15 minutes for the mushrooms. When we got the mushrooms they were great! Hot and a ton of flavor! I ordered the clam po boy with the Parmesan fries and cucumber salad and my wife got the tilapia with asparagus and sweet potato. We waited 40 minutes after our appetizer came out and when we got our food both were over cooked. The clams were way over fried and the fish was dry. We were both really disappointed with our meal. I would go back and give them a second chance, probably order a burger because all of them looked so good when they were coming out of the kitchen. Over all a bad first impression.

I’ve been in here a few times for drinks, but this is the first time I’ve had dinner. They have expanded and have added a well appointed dining area. Our server was cheerful and really a lot of fun. We tried a few different appetizers, the baked Brie was my favorite, but the hummus and goat cheese were quite tasty as well. They have a nice selection of martinis and I had to try a few! Before dinner, after dinner and again today… Ooops wrong review… I digress. I had Salmon Dijon and it was delicious. We stayed for a few hours taking our time enjoying our meals. They serve generous portions and the food is nicely plated. For dessert, they serve a peanut butter chocolate fondue that was the perfect end to our dining experience.
