I had read the reviews. We were looking for a sandwich place, something light b4 we drove to South Lake Tahoe from Sacramento. One of our son’s n I shared a pesto n feta cheese veg sandwich with chips n my husband and son had the roast beef chutney. It was more than enough for a couple of 14 year olds n us. Delicious homemade taste to the food n vibe to the restaurant. One of the cooks was waiting on tables n she was super friendly writing out great sightseeing places in and around South Lake Tahoe. Thank you ladies for the«soul food.»

Went today to try out the food based on reviews. There was a sign that said they will be closed for the weekends starting June 11th… Strange… It’s not June 11th yet but alas they are closed! Also, with summer coming and the camping and all the traveling, why would a restaurant be closed on the weekend??? Do they not get enough business? Strange. Can only do one star since they were supposed to be open.

Thanks to Unilocal!,we ate lunch here today. What a treat! The women were very friendly, they greet everyone like old friends. My husband ordered the roast beef with tomato chutney and I had the roast beef with blue cheese. Both were delicious. We will definitely be back.

On the way back from Big Trees, we stopped for lunch. Many choices in town, but this place looked really inviting, with nice patio furniture outside. The staff was really friendly and the food was AMAZING! I had the chicken teriyaki sandwich(which was the special that day), and it was the best I’ve ever had! Very flavorful and tender meat, the bread was soft and fresh and the portion was large enough I had to have a to go box! I’m from Texas and was visiting a friend, but Two Cooks on Main will definitely be on my «return to» list!

I’m assuming the owners were there preparing the food the day we were there because the service was prompt and personable. I got the roast beef and blue cheese and my girlfriend got the chicken teriyaki sandwich – both very good. They use delicious bread, which is half the battle when it comes to sandwiches. The only drawback was the potato chips on the side – they were fresh and good but I’d rather have a little potato salad or green salad.

Tried the roast beef with blue cheese. It was amazing!!! One of the best roast beef sandwiches I’ve ever had. My grandmother had the split pea soup and it wasn’t her cup of tea. Would definitely go back. Very good customer service, seems like most people that go there are regulars because they knew everyone by name which says a lot.

Great lunch! My husband and I popped in for a quick lunch with our 16 month old son. We each ordered a roast beef sandwich, his with blue cheese and garlic and mine with the tomato chutney, and both were delicious! This place has a great atmosphere and we felt very comfortable eating there with our young son.

Just… no. Not good. The combination of ingredients on the sandwiches are poor choices and not complementary at all. The Chinese Chicken salad had tiny bits of chicken, and crunched up ramen noodles in it. There was hardly any sort of flavor to it. The roast beef and blue cheese sandwich was flavorless roast beef and soggy lettuce on blazé bread. The tuna sandwich was boring to say the least. The women that work there are very lovely and sweet as pie, but that’s not enough to make us come back. One of the worst places I’ve ever eaten.

Loved this little spot on the Main Street of Placerville. I had read the glowing reviews online and heard from others how good the food was. We got: The turkey and cranberry. Classic. Apparently this is a must have and it hit the spot perfectly. Good sized sandwich with a lot of turkey and cranberries. Tried the Chinese chicken salad and it was nice as well. I got the Sandwich Special of the Day: Caprese Sandwich. I have been obsessed with Caprese Salad since having it in Italy. So this was an intriguing choice. It is a warm/grilled sandwich. When it came out I was surprised that it appeared so small and remarked that it didn’t look like $ 10…then I took a bite. «Ohhhhh, that’s why it is ten dollars… it’s overwhelmingly delicious.» I have a hearty appetite and this and the crisp, fresh Ruffles chips were more than enough. The tastes, though, were the key. The mozzarella just clung to the toasted bread, sun-dried tomatoes, and basil. Ahhhhhh, it was wonderful. We sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful Placerville downtown and warm summer afternoon. Perfect. I look forward to returning for some of the famous homemade soups. Don’t forget to stop by The Bookery a few doors down. Great store filled with treasures.

I love this place! Always amazing food! A must try if you are downtown Placerville at lunchtime. Excellent Chinese Chicken Salad, must have the Roast Beef with blue cheese and garlic, and the soup is always delicious.

This place is worth waiting for a table. The meats seem like they were made on the day, our pork was even warm still. Everything was tender and tasty.

This is a tiny shop with probably about 5 tables total. They offer sandwiches, salad and soup for between $ 6 – 9. We got the half sandwich a small salad — egg salad sandwiches, one Chinese chicken and one house salad. The sandwiches were very good and served with chips. The salads were so so — my Chinese chicken was super crunchy and had bits of dry top ramen mixed in which was sort of weird. My mom’s house salad was also good but she was off put by the amount of sugar residue from the candied pecans, as it really did look like they just sprinkled some sugar on top of the salad. Service was friendly and attentive — they offered us lemon with our water and talked is into getting two delicious cookies to go with our lunch. This place really does feel like you’re going to your mom’s house for lunch or something.

Really charming little lunch spot to grab some delicious homemade food. As the name suggests, there are literally 2 chefs putting your meal together in the small kitchen. Very charming and personable and most importantly great food. I loved the house salad with a poppy seed vinaigrette. Delicious. And if you like turkey, they bake it here themselves and their best selling sandwich is the turkey cranberry. Enjoy!

Walked up and down main street twice and this place looked the most appealing. I’m glad I walked in. I ordered a cup if clam chowder and the dilled albacore. The clam chowder was amazing! Ask for extra croutons, they are really good! The tuna was really good, one of the better tuna sandwich’s I’ve had. Chips were ruffles. The owners are super nice so don’t be afraid to chat. All in all, great food, great service. Great place to grab a bite to eat if you are in a hurry.
