Even though they’re open til 10, they ignore you at 945 and act like you can’t see them through the window…

I still do not understand why Jimboy’s is not more popular. These guys are still putting out a great product far superior to most chain Mexican-style places at a competitive price. The location on the east side of Placerville has always been a favorite due to its proximity to Apple Hill, and the upgrades over the years have kept it a very nice option in the area. Jimboy’s is like a gourmet Taco Bell. It is not a taqueria and is a bit gringo-ized, but it is still a solid option. Their grilled tacos straddle the thin line between soft and crunchy while still keeping that tasty parmesan cheese from falling to its death. I always love the chicken and actually prefer the better seasoned ground beef to the shredded. Beans and rice rival those found in nice Mexican places. The Placerville Jimboy’s is an excellent option for those heading to Apple Hill or Lake Tahoe. It is an easy-on easy-off option from US50 and has a great menu for everyone.

if you want real mexican tacos — this is the place — it is much better than other fast food places. the service is terrific when sharon and rebecca are there. other times, the service is ok but not anything special. prices are fine and the food is served quickly. guacamole is pretty spicy but good.

Came in late on our way home to Tahoe. Efficient service I had the regular beef and also the pork tacos. Good flavors A basic place to get a quick meal while traveling

I. Can’t believe it, ordered the standard chicken taco and it was flavorless, didn’t have Jimboys trademark dusting of cheese on the shell or cheese inside. Not going to this location again. Normally I can’t get enough of their tasty and addictive tacos. I guess this store is having an off day?

I have grow up on Jimboy’s Tacos from my 1960’s Denios Farmers Market Days in Roseville. It was only tacos for me. Sometimes asking for extra meat and Cheese and cooked crispy. Later my favorite was at the end of Greenback Lane in Granite Bay then it was Arden Way in Sacramento tied with the Jimboy’s on Cirby in Roseville. But if you want more than just a good taco go to the Placerville Jimboy’s Tacos. The enchilada sauce is spiced and cooked to perfection. The beans and rice are healthy portions and the ground beef is chunky not smashed to pieces. The staff are always happy and pleasant and will take your order inside first before taking the drive-thru! Easy on and off Highway 50. Enjoy a number six combo for me please!

Jimboys is Iconic! It’s been around since the 70’s and they haven’t changed their tacos. I wish there was one in LA! It’s a mom pop shop that hits the top in my book! Therefore, 5 stars! Wouldn’t trust the grouchie people who gave it less than 3 stars. Check it out for yourself. That reviewer Dave should’ve sent me his greasy taco! Never heard of a non Greasy Taco. Yeah can i get a taco without grease, please? Duh? BTW gotta get the beef taco. Chicken is a little flavorless…

After I paid for my lunch, I noticed the restaurant smelled like vomit. I grabbed my tacos, got in the car, and realized the vomit smell was my food. Super greasy shredded beef tacos. Not sure if it’s old oil they are cooking in or what, but I couldn’t wait to toss the food asap. Horrible!

One of the better jimboys. Salsa Bar is stocked and food isn’t as greasy as some of the other locations. Staff is also friendly.

This was a VERY pleasant surprise. I was a little sketch to eat at anything called JIMBOYS especially a taco joint. Just didn’t sound very authentic lol. I like adventure though. The staff was extremely nice. I ordered a 2 tacos with beans and rice… CRAZ-AMAZE! The tacos were soooooo different from what I was expecting. Almost like a cross between jack in a box with REAL ingredients. Sooooo freaking good I can’t wait to go back.

The only«fast food» I’ll eat. Jimboys food is delicious. I order a #12, veggie burrito and chicken taco. Taco shells are a little greasy but otherwise excellent tacos! Very clean location, lighting is a little low and the urinal in the restroom has been broken for a month now.

I drive by this place many times on the way to Tahoe. The food was not so good compared to the mission tacos here in SF. I’m not a fan would rather have not eaten here.

I give this place 4 stars for their tacos and 2 – 3 stars for everything else! Super greasy tacos, but so delicious! It’s the only thing I would really recommend. The combo plates look and taste like TV dinners.

It pains me to see the low reviews that people have been giving Jimboys. Many of the critiques are fair: this is not authentic Mexican food, and the nutritional information on their website is enough to give anyone nightmares. The beauty of Jimboys, however, is that they don’t worry about ascribing to a rubric of health or cultural legitimacy: Jimboys concerns themselves only with the production of delicious food. The ground beef tacos are the staple: ground beef, cheddar, and lettuce in a crispy shell dusted with parmesan cheese – just one example of how this place is willing to flout convention to create a culinary delight. Another favorite is the bean and cheese burrito. It’s ostensibly grilled, but the amount of oil in it makes it more like a delicious chimichanga. Jimboys has all kinds of options, from the basics like taco salads, burritos, enchiladas, etc. to more exotic fare like the taco burger(a taco made with pickles, mustard, and a hamburger patty… better than it sounds!). It’s also right off the freeway, so why not grab a dozen tacos or so on your way up to hit the slopes in Tahoe? It’s not like you won’t burn off the calories…
