Sunburst Shutters & Window Fashions

We selected Sunburst Shutters to do the plantation shutters in our new home. Jed took a look at the molding in our home and recommended the Craftsman style polywood plantation shutters, which has a very sleek and modern look to it-​definitely more unique than the shutters with the decorative borders. We opted for the snow-​white color, to make the shutters stand out throughout the home. Jed recommended the off-​white color for the front door side panel windows, to match the off-​white color of the molding. We agreed, so that the side panels don’t stand out and will match the molding.
When the shutters were installed, we were very impressed with the way they looked in our home. Only problem is that the off-​white ones next to the front door did not match the molding as expected, and really stood out because of the mismatch in color. We called Sunburst to see what they could do, and they said it was written in our contract and that we would have to speak with the boss Kimball.
When we spoke to Kimball, he was very accommodating and wanted us to be happy with our purchase– so he agreed to replace the off-​white shutters with snow-​white ones, free of charge. Now that’s what I call great customer service!
Another tidbit– the polywood plantation shutters are eligible for a tax credit. I believe they are the only company’s product that is eligible for that. And the shutters come with a lifetime warranty, which we greatly appreciate. Definitely recommend Sunburst Shutters!

My husband ordered our shutters 2 ½ weeks before my baby shower and I was so nervous that they would not be here or installed, but they were and I could not have been any happier at the results. It makes our house look modern, keeps the rooms cooler and they look amazing! Josh can and installed them for us and did a great job, he was sweet and professional and asked us if we had any questions! It was a pleasure working with Sunburst Shutters. I got the sliding shutter doors and 4 sets of roller blinds. I am in love with my shutters doors and I can tell the difference already about keeping the heat out! My living room is already cooler! Just in time for the summer! And my roller blinds are awesome! They are clean looking easy to use and I have gotten a lot of compliments! I decided to go with gray and it looks sharp! Event the installer was like «Wow!» are installer was kind and did a great job. There was one small thing missing but somebody came right out with it and my job was finished in time. They both checked everything thoroughly! And made sure I was happy before they left. I like there customer service they communicated with me all of the time. I really wanted these in before a dinner party and they got them to me early! I appreciate that and their professionalism. I would highly recommend Sunburst Shutters. I called many people to come out and nobody took me serious except for them. One other came out and tried to talk me into some other window treatments and told me I would hate the shutter doors! Thank god I didn’t listen and waited for Sunburst! I couldn’t be happier!

Had a great experience with Sunburst Shutters. My shutters (vinyl) are beautiful. The price was excellent. Jarvis, the installer is very ethical, helpful and really cares about customer service. He was very detailed orientated and everything was perfect when he left!

They were very nice when they scheduled the appointment, but when the guy got to my house, he made sure to let me know at least 3 times that they don’t usually come to a person’s house to measure for wood blinds, those are usually ordered on line. I don’t know thing one about ordering wood blinds, so I needed help to order $ 400, 96 inch wide blinds-​excuse me! The rep, Greg was rude, dismissive and didn’t even attempt to hide the fact that he thought I was wasting his time. He left saying he would send me samples, and after 2 weeks passed an no samples, I called and he said «oh, yeah, sorry about not following up, did you decide on the color?» I reminded him I didn’t have any samples to make my decision with and he snapped at me «I said I was sorry!». I then received samples in the mail a week later from someone totally different and they weren’t even close to the color I had in mind. I should have known what I was dealing with when Greg didn’t say hello to my dog. I called Custom Shutters and Wood Blinds and they sent a very sweet man named Mike who came out and greeted me and my dog, measured my window correctly, which by the way were wildly different measurements than Greg came up with, and a couple of weeks later I had new blinds. I got blinds from Custom Shutters in less time than it took me to get samples of the wrong colors from Sunburst. Don’t waste your time with Sunburst, they don’t give a crap unless you’re spending a couple of grand. Sorry I’m not rich, but us 99%ers need window coverings, too. The only good thing that came out of my dealings with Sunburst is Mr Personality left his tape measure at my house, and he ain’t getting it back. It’s a very nice tape measure. Just go straight to Custom Shutters and Wood Blinds, same area and the people are unbelievably nice, the service was fabulous and they deserve the business.

I had 12 windows done on my brand new home, 10 windows with shutters and 2 with roller blinds. I love my shutters. I ended up going for polywood shutters after the sales rep recommended them. If you’re looking for polywood, Sunburst is the place to go. I was seriously contemplating between wood/​polywood but decided to go with polywood because they’re easier to clean, come with a longer warranty and are built with seals that block out the light in the crevices. Sunburst Shutter’s prices were quite comparable if you remember to negotiate with them.
My shutter install was incident free and my shutters are flawless.
There was a misunderstanding with my order but the owner contacted me and remembered to follow up so that he could fix the situation. I thought it was lovely that he tried his best to make me happy. Unfortunately I wanted something that would not work in my house, but I’m glad they reached out and tried to help me with all the options they could think of.

After doing a lot of research we selected Sunburst to do the shutters in our home — we have a lot of windows and spent over $ 11,000 doing all of the windows with plantation shutters. Sunburst prices were very competitive (actually lower then other estimates). I like the fact that the shutters are manufactured in the USA. The Polywood material looks great after ten years — no fading or warping. The material is also easy to clean. The people we worked with were all very professional, responsive and reliable. Recently I had to replace one of the magnetic attachments (they keep the shutters firmly closed) because the plastic material had dried out (due to the sun) and cracked. I called Sunburst and they sent me a replacement (plus a few extras) at NO CHARGE. It was easy to replace– remove two screws and replace the broken piece of plastic with the new piece — about two minutes of work! Since the shutters were done about ten years ago I was expecting a charge for the replacement and was pleasantly surprised at no cost. In a world so lacking in customer satisfaction it is nice to deal with a business like Sunburst that values their customers. This is a company that wants their customers to be satisfied. I would highly recommend them — they do beautiful work, at very competitive prices and their customer service is outstanding.

We couldn’t be happier with our new Polyvore shutters we purchased at Sunburst Shutters. We had exactly nine shutters installed at our home… and they look beautiful!!! We had the privilege of meeting three of their employees: Jed (who came to show us the products Sunburst makes and informed us about the different types of shutters, measured and gave us a quote), Kimball (came to remeasure a second time to double check measurements before shutters are produced and told us approximate time of delivery) and Ryan (installed the shutters quickly and efficiently and gave us a little tutorial on how to keep the shutters always looking beautiful). They were all very knowledgeable, they listened to and answered all of our questions. All three were very professional. We just had our custom plantation shutters installed today. They look amazing and were very reasonably priced. All of the staff we dealt with were very friendly and professional. We highly recommend Sunburst Shutters!

This review is for the final installation of the shutters. Ryan and Graham were the slated installers and they were prompt, professional, courteous and on point with the installation. The product was delivered and installed exactly as I expected and as with my previous reviews of Sunburst Shutters, you should definitely give them a call. Have had these shutters now throughout our home going on 13 years now. A few brackets have broke due to excess sun exposure and normal wear so I gave sunburst shutters a call their representative so so helpful and mailed out parts to fix issues which she gave instructions on how to fix. Two screws and a dab of glue will be all I need to repair. Free parts sent ASAP such great customer service :)

From start to finish the process was professional and easy. Simple to arrange scheduling for consultation with their appointment staff, the salesman Kenny had some great ideas for our particular situation and was very responsive, installation was quick and easy. Very happy with the way the shutters turned out.
Only issue was out of Sunburst control. The Hunter Douglass window shade which was a part of the order was damaged. Sunburst coordinated reshipment of the new shade within a couple weeks and installed within two days of receipt.
Will be using Suburst without a doubt for future installations.

Christmas came early! Today our shutters were installed.
As a newly wedded couple that just bought a house and had it gutted and fully remodeled, we were exhausted with making decisions after decisions. After living with temporary paper shades for months, we finally took upon the task of window treatments– curtains vs. blinds vs. shutters.
First, Kimball Jones met with us and presented the various window products, took measurements, and provided a quote. He was professional and candid when he answered all our questions. Kimball was very knowledgeable.
After getting quotes from 3 vendors, we ultimately chose Sunburst Shutters for us. Sunburst was not the least expensive of the quotes but after taking into consideration the actual product quality, history of Sunburst Shutters in the industry, and the record of excellent customer service; it was no brainer.
What sealed the deal for us was when we talked to our friend at ADT Security. In our consultation with Kimball, it was recommended that our sensors be moved so we wanted to get a quote on that service visit from ADT. We asked our friend for guidance in better placement of our wireless window security sensors prior to the shutter installation. To our surprise we learned he actually had Sunburst Shutters in his house, and he was very satisfied and recommended Sunburst Shutters. We got to talk with a former customer and got a personal « Unilocal» review in person! What a small world!
As promised 6 weeks after signing our contract, we had our beautiful «Better View» Polywood Shutters with the hidden splits installed on our three windows-​Master Bedroom, Guest Room (aka future Nursery Room as my husband calls it), and dining room. Mike who installed the shutters was professional, cordial, funny and efficient! It was raining today, and he was respectful to our home by placing a moving blanket on our foyer and removing his shoes to protect our new wooden floors when entering. He demonstrated how to open, close and care for the shutters. The process could not have gone any smoother.
My husband and I love our Sunburst Shutters and plan to for the years to come. They compliment the look of our home, and were worth the investment.

Happy to give my final review for Sunburst. They came to install the remaining shades and someone from Century (blind manufacturer) came to repair the broken shade and one with the crinkle.
Overall the communication got better and they did attempt to fix all the issues we encountered. It was unfortunate, but they made up for it in the end.

When Kimball came out, I asked him all the basic questions and grilled him on product knowledge and manufacturing. He answered all my questions and gave me an estimate that was comparable to all the other companies. I chose Sunburst because of the quality and the lifetime warrantee and I’m confident that the shutters will look great when they arrive.

WOW! So we just got our new Sunburst shutters installed and we are super happy with the results.

A few weeks ago we invited Sunburst shutters to come out to our place for an initial quote and measurement. We were lucky enough to have Kenny as our sales rep. Kenny was very personable and easy to deal with. I explained to Kenny that we had other quotes in the wings and that although price was important, the most important thing was to ensure that a company is backing the quality of their product. Kenny reassured us that Sunburst lives and dies by their reputation in the industry as leaders in both quality and customer service. After doing some sleuthing on the internet my wife and I both agreed that Sunburst was the right choice for us.
The install was outstanding as well. Sunburst install tech Diego showed up early to get us set up. He was super professional, super clean, and super fast. He had the shutters in faster than I ever imagined. He took time to explain how the shutters work and how to maintain them.
To sum it up these shutters are beautiful and the experience was awesome from A to B

So this review is about their initial consultation and follow up. We have yet to actually purchase shutters but I felt the need to give a props to a great start. I have never done a review this early in the process, but due to a major lack of customer service skills we’ve experienced recently, I wanted to make an exception in this case.
To put this in perspective, over the course of a few days we had various reps for a few different jobs we’re looking to get done in our home (shutters, closet organizer and plumbing). We had already been beaten down pretty well by reps talking down to us, assuming their service was ‘the one we had to have’, placing ‘urgent’ calls into their manager to get a last minute deal (think a car salesman going back n’ forth with his/​her sales manager) and just generally rubbing us the wrong way. No bueno.
This is where Sunburst rep Kimball gets a shout out from me and my wife. And quite honestly, it’s folks like himself that represent this company in a way that we feel much better about moving forward with a major purchase of shutters in our home. His sales approach was low stress, friendly, very knowledgable and extremely no-​pressure. He was happy to keep our budget in mind while not making us feel ‘we really should upgrade to a higher level’. Quite honestly, their products already seem to start off in a great spot so even if we ‘settle’ for a moderate priced option, we feel confident in the product and work we’ll receive.
Relative to what we had endured with other folks, it was a breath of fresh air. While this should be the norm to make our choices more difficult — sadly, the opposite is true. It’s folks like Kimball that represent what may be perceived as a bit of a higher cost option for an item. But it also comes down to the fact that if the person that reps them makes us feel confident about moving forward, that large purchase is a bit more easy to swallow and in the long run looks to be a wise decision.
As for his follow up… again, low stress. No brow beating or urgent deadlines. Friendly exchanges and curiosity if there were any follow up questions. The quotes we received were thorough and gave us a good overview of all of our options. We will be moving forward with our purchase from Sunburst. I look forward to updating this review. I’m confident my rating will remain intact and I’ll have more good things to say about the experience and how the products looks & work in our home.

Four years ago, I ordered shutters from another company. Waited 5 – 6 weeks for the shutters to arrive. I had ordered 5 shutters. When they arrived, 2 didn’t close correctly and one had been completely forgotten in the order. The company said they would leave the 2 good shutters in our home while we waited 5 more weeks for the other 3. We said «no way» and they luckily took the two good ones back and gave us a refund. It was ridiculous.
So we called Sunburst Shutters. Sunburst BEAT their price. Delivered them within a fair amount of time and the instal was absolutely flawless. I was SO happy with their service and quality.
SO I just ordered an entire 4200 sf home full of shutters from them again. Because they ROCK
