I spent hours researching psychologists for an issue one of my children is facing and was disappointed to see that many of the providers covered by my insurance were rated rather poorly by patients. When I saw that there were several positive reviews of Dr. Vander Dussen and that her office was close to my home, I was encouraged and made a call to her office. My insurance company had warned me that many providers are in solo practice and that it might take 48 hours to receive a response from them, and so I was prepared to wait a short period of time for a return call. Unfortunately, after week I hadn’t received a return phone call from her. I emailed her and she responded indicating that she was not available at certain times. I responded quickly with an inquiry about availability at a different time. It is now 7 days since I sent that email inquiry and she has not responded to me. I learned that she was on vacation when I called, but unfortunately her outgoing voicemail message didn’t give any indication that she wasn’t in the office. Usually people contact psychologists because they have some issue in their lives and are seeking assistance. An almost complete lack of communication over a period of 2+ weeks is disappointing.
