I have mixed feelings about Forest Hills Coffee. Currently, I live in the area and love having a place I can walk to for a cuppa. The coffee quality is ok… slightly bitter. True, they don’t put enough ice in the cold drinks to make them instantly cold. But give it a stir and wait… you’re paying for coffee, not the ice! The prices are reasonable for a small independent shop. They have a few breakfast sandwiches and pastries available, too. The owners are a bit ornery, but in the most amusing way possible. Be prepared to get chided for ordering a «teenage girl drink»(i.e., ANY flavored latte). Happily, FH Coffee will substitute soy for a small fee.(Even my local Dunkin’ Donuts won’t do that). They are serious about not accepting tips. Last time I tried to leave my change, I got a speech about how much I would save annually if I stopped tipping. I might take their advice if I was back in Europe, but ok. It’s their choice. It’s far from the classy youthful coffee shops in the South Side, and the coffee itself isn’t the greatest. But you’ll always find local conversation and free wi-fi at Forest Hills Coffee.

I might be a little bit biased because I may or may not live nearby(cue in Austin Powers style pinky to lips expression now). But the owners are friendly, maybe more so to the *cough* locals, but I am no local and they welcomed me and my pops just the same. 3 things I adore about this coffee shop, they thumb their nose at tips, they make their coffee really strong, the price is reasonable and ok 4th They have a decent roast choice. I will agree they do not put much ice in their iced coffee, but they are trying to feed you more caffeine people! What is more important in your iced coffee… caffeine or ice? Come on we all have ordered a Starbucks iced coffee and sucked it down in 10 seconds flat due to tons of ice right?

Nice, friendly, clean little coffee shop. I stopped in to borrow their WiFi. The gent was very accommodating and pointed to a table with an outlet. This is not your typical collegiate hipster coffee shop. There is a tv, which can be a little distracting, but can be zoned out eventually. It’s more like Cheers without the alcohol than any coffee shop I’ve been to. Decent coffee. I overheard that they make sandwiches, but I didn’t see a food menu or find a website. That’d be my biggest complaint. I’ll be back, at least until I get my own internet.

The fella who runs this place is a bit of a cranky-pants and served my iced latte in a coffee mug with just a few slivers of ice. While I love Forrest Hills, I think that this café could be so much better!

This little isolated coffee shop is nowhere near anything interesting, the only reason I ever find myself out here is to drop off my rent check. I honestly do not understand how it’s in business, every time I look in the window it’s empty, I imagine they’re really busy in the morning with people who work in the area businesses. I’ve only managed to force myself in here once, which is more than enough, to get an iced coffee on a hot day last summer. There’s a TV, I really don’t like coffee shops with TVs, mostly because I don’t like to be assaulted with whatever news station is on. Don’t get me wrong I love news, I just don’t like obvious slants and sensationalism. Oh yeah, the iced coffee, it was bitter and the coffee concentrate to water ratio was way off. I probably won’t go back.

Awesome little coffee shop with very friendly staff and great prices. They make a really good iced coffee with some sort of chocolate orange(the name escapes me at the moment). Also, make sure to get a punch card as your 12th coffee will be free. Only gripe is that parking can be a challenge sometimes. I’ve never had a bad coffee from this place, check it out!
